HAPPY BIRTHDAY to AC Milan – the most successful club in the world!
Today, 16 of December, 111 years ago, two British men, Alfred Edwards and Herbert Kilpin, founded a cricket club, named Milan Cricket and Football Club.
Only in 1939, the club got its current name – Associazione Calcio Milano. Success was immediate for this club, as they won three national leagues titles in 10 years, in 1901, 1906 and 1907.
Van Basten: ‘I see myself in Ibrahimovic’
Report: Cassano agrees terms with Milan
A lot of great players played for the Red & Black (Rossoneri) outfit. Names like Roberto Baggio, Marco van Basten, Ruud Gullit, Frank Rijkaard, Franco Baresi, Paolo Maldini and Alessandro “Billy” Costacurta are just few of the legends that played for AC Milan throughout the years.
Winning is in the DNA of this club; it has won the Scudetto 17 times, the Coppa Italian 5 times, the Supercoppa Italiana 5 times. Milan are the most successful club in the world, with 7 UEFA Champions League victories, 2 UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup wins and 5 UEFA Super Cup wins. Milan have also won the Intercontinental Cup three times, as well as the FIFA Club World Cup once.
Forza Milan!
