Arrigo Sacchi suggested that van Basten and Ibrahimovic are a like, and today, the Dutch and Milan legend responded to these statements.
“He is a good player,” he told La Gazzetta dello Sport. “But he goes about his life and I go about mine. He is an important player for Milan and I hope for him and for the club that it all goes in the best way possible and they have a lot of success.

Van Basten won 12 trophies with Milan, and scored 90 goals in 147 games – only in five years. Ibrahimovic is a huge success so far, as he scored 13 goals in 12 matches in the Rossoneri shirt.
“Comparisons right now seem a little out of place. Milan are doing great things, but it doesn’t seem to me that they are playing great football,” he added.
“For the moment it seems that they are worrying above all about winning games and it’s right this way. Then once the results are consolidated, they will think about playing better.
“Every now and again I see myself again in Ibrahimovic above all in terms of physique. Ibrahimovic has a formidable power, but also good technique. But I keep thinking that comparing two players from different ages is difficult and rather useless.”

I agree with him.. These 2 can’t really be compared because the style of football has changed dramatically over the 10-20 years. Nevertheless, we can see that we have a player who can win games for us just as van basten did that’s the most important thing

When Milan face Ajax on UCL 2003, as where Ibra still wearing Ajax shirt, Alessandro Costacurta talked about Ibra who had the same playing style like Basten. So i prefer trust Costacurta approval, cause he’s one of Milan legendary defender who face Ibra that time. Not some unknown kid like Roonie2009 who don’t know s*** about football and prefer watched Nothingham than Milan.

isan, me too! When I was 7 years old, my Dad came back from Italy with a Van Basten Jersey! It was love at first sight :)) I slept, ate, played, and did everything in that shirt and I still have it, although it’s not in good condition haha. Like you said, Van Basten is the reason I love football and Milan :D

As for Basten, he’s a legend. I still remember when he scored that amazing goal against Russia (USSR) in Euro Cup 1988. And i don’t see any player in this world who can score like that except Basten himself.

van basten asked by koeman (when koeman was the head coach of ajax) to train his strikers and one of them was zlatan ibrahimovic. (at that time, van der vaart was the captain of ajax and had personal problem with zlatan)
no wonder ibra has similarities with his guru.
also, alen boksic said in late 90’s that he was inspired by van basten on the way he played football.
