RODNEY STRASSER is joyful after playing and winning against B0logna today.
AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri gave some space for the youngsters today to show their worth as during today’s 3-0 victory over Bologna, Strasser got almost 40 minutes to play.
The 20-year-old is very happy with playing. Strasser played well, he wanted the balls and wasn’t afraid to hold on to the ball and deliver crosses towards Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Robinho.
Allegri: ‘Now we wait for Roma’
Bologna 0 – 3 Milan
“I’m delighted for having made my debut today,” Strasser said after the game. “I already played in 2008 against Udinese, but today I got to play a bit more. I’m happy for myself and for the team’s win.
“It wasn’t easy to come on and take the rhythm of the game, but the boss showed his trust in me. He told me to go to warm up in the first half, when Gattuso injured himself. I did so and finally my time arrived in the second half.
“I’m doing my best in training, I’m following the advice of the coach and my teammates, who have a lot of experience. I’m happy to be part of this group.”
AC Milan CEO Adriano Galliani said: “Coach Allegri is doing well. He brought on Strasser with the game in progress and the youngster didn’t disappoint. We have a deep squad rich in alternatives.”
Also Allegri spoke about Strasser: “Strasser’s performance was a pleasant surprise, he played with personality. His development goes faster compared to other youngsters, thanks to the great group he’s part of.”

yeah Rodney did played well for the time he was on the pitch, i would still like for milan to purchase a left back (Criscito-italian)and a center back (Astori-italian) and maybe a stricker (Paloschi-italian) and try to get a loan move for Poli or candreva…..and the squad will have alot of italian international in the future :) Ganso would also be a nice addition.
the formation against Roma should be:
—————-abbiati——————–
abate——-nesta—–yepes——Montelongo
—————ambrosini——————-
——Strasser———–merkel————
—————-boateng——————–
————ibra——-robinho————-
Subs: amelia, papa, zambrotta, onyewu, pirlo, seedorf, ronaldinho, Oduamadi.
Bobby Khan, are you insane? You want to throw both Merkel and Strasser in at the deep end against Roma?
They may not be having the best season at the moment but to throw two rookies against a team that is notorious for being one of our hardest opponents this is a recipe for disaster.
Get them more game time against the middle or lower league teams before we can trust them against what is still one of Serie A’s big guns.
@Bobby Khan, Khan bhai be realistic. Allegri will never start with 3 youngster against Roma, there will only came on from the bench if we are in front with 3 goals. ;-)
@vyperprism, who would you like to be in midfeild? gattuso and slowdorf!!!
@Ali Milano Aslam, so you dont want to start the youngsters (merkel,Strasser,Montelongo), so who do you want to be started? What, do you want slowdorf, gattuso and bonera to start!! WELL I SAY HELL NO! AC MILAN SHOULD START THOSE YOUNGSTERS OND NOT THOSE OLD, SLOW PLAYERS!!!
Roma has Borrielo but we have Ibra, Roma have Totti but we have Robinho…….. So who do you thin is going to win???
@Bobby KHAN, that formation we have right now, because its working, understand? :-)
@Bobby khan
Calm down mate! i agree with u’r formation but replace Montelongo with Antonini. Montelongo is not a LB, his RB. And replace Strasser / Merkel with Pirlo. We NEED Pirlo for his playmaking and high quality pass. Both Merkel and Strasser don’t have yet those quality.
FYI, Speed is not everything to winning big-match. U need experience, skills, teamwork, and good mentality too. The two rookie (Strasser & Merkel) doesn’t have those requirement right now. Maybe a year or two than we can talk about them as starter in big-match.
bo way do not play merkel or any other youngsters against Roma until were winnig and I think strasser is much better than merkel anyway boateng lays just like merkel so we don’t need him. strasser should start comin on like he did today every game he is just what we need. young strong good defensively and offensively just like essien. eventually I would like him to be starting like wilshire or Pedro or busquets do play them until they gain confidence and then they can start. he didn’t make any mistakes today and it’s only his second apperance
yeah… strasser played well against bologna, but our next opponent is roma… never underestimate your enemy…
@Bobby Khan
Nice formation except that i wouldn’t play strasser and merkel at the same time in a big match like this.
Don’t worry i’m sure allegri will play both of them in other matches and even montelongo will get a chance to play
@ Bobby Khan
y dont we start with primavera… Montelungo is a primavera…look @ acmilan.com
Slowdorf can pass, Gattuso is finding hisself again…so in big matches oldies r better…
Oduamadi Nnamdi was the highest goal scorer in primavera. Allegri should try him at least for 20 minutes on a winning day.
The boy is good.
You guyz r totally insane..we need merkel and strasser but for the time being against team like cagliari…in those game they should start and why not give gattuso a rest in that game … I am a diehard milan and serie a fan but sorry to say it is pathetically slow.we need 2 increase our tempo..thats why we need those young guns.
i just love u milan
you guyz always talk about primavera players.but i think there is a short of quality in primavera.why not we start 2 follow barca nd bring out our own xavi.in serie a they talk more and work less.thats why gattuso still plays for milan who is way past his best.younger players should be given much more time on the playing field.look at sorensen of juve.but where is milan’s sorensen
i think sandip is the same Guy( Bobby khan)
I think whilst we all want to see yuonger players introduced into the first team, starting with three of them against Roma is mad. Maybe play Strasser, Pirlo and Ambro behind Boateng and the two strikers. Maybe bring on Merkel for the last ten minutes if we are 3 – 0 up. In another game, when Rino and FLamin is back, maybe we could play those two and Strasser behind Pirlo or Boateng, if they can track back. The point is we need to gradually introduce them, not destroy their confidence by introducing them all at once and seeing them… Read more »
