HERE are all the options for the attack.
The new season is about to begin and new coach Massimiliano Allegri is still not sure about which attack should start this term.
So, here are all the options of Allegri.
Milan close in on duo
Milan (5) 0-0 (3) Panathinaikos: Shootout decided Silverdome
Alexandre Pato-Marco Borriello-Ronaldinho
This is the most likely trio to start the season. Pato on the right, Ronaldinho on the left while Borriello waits for crosses in the middle. It worked well for Leonardo last season (although there were some problems with Borriello’s finishing ability) and this could succeed for another year.
Alexandre Pato-Klaas-Jan Huntelaar-Ronaldinho
The Dutchman, if impresses in the pre-season matches could be given the nod. Huntelaar has had a tough season but like Marco van Basten said – if he gets the right support, he can score at least 15 goals a season. There is nothing else to add on Ronaldinho and Pato.
Alexandre-Pato-Marco Borriello/Klaas-Jan Huntelaar-Simone Verdi
Verdi has already been touted as Ronaldinho’s replacement for this season. He’s younger, faster and has great technique. Ronaldinho has gained weight and until he loses it all back, Simone could offer a decent back-up, although he and Pato cannot assist as well as ‘Dinho.
Nnamdi Oduamadi-Marco Borriello/Klaas-Jan Huntelaar-Ronaldinho
This is very unlikely to happen but if Pato can’t play due to an injury or an illness, Odu is capable of replacing him. Apart from speed and high technique, his also finishes well and can help Borriello or Huntelaar in the middle.
Clarence Seedorf; Alexandre Pato-Marco Borriello/Klaas-Jan Huntelaar
All the other options suit the 4-3-3 formation but Allegri could play 4-3-1-2 with Borriello or Huntelaar, and Pato upfront with Seedorf behind them. So far, the veteran Dutchman is playing on Andrea Pirlo’s position so we still don’t know if he has the speed to play behind the strikers.
Alexandre Pato-Filippo Inzaghi-Ronaldinho
This will probably be the last year of SuperPippo with AC Milan. The striker who turns 37 on Monday played little last season and this season he will probably play from the beginning only on Champions League matches as he wants to break the goal-scoring record. This, however, unlikely to be the trio.
Alexandre Pato-Marco Borriello/Klaas-Jan Huntelaar-Alexander Merkel
Merkel is one of the youngsters who have impressed a lot during the pre-season. The player is capable of playing on the wing, behind the strikers and in midfield and even Allegri admitted that he would suit the first team. Merkel could offer a very decent replacement for ‘Dinho and Pato, but Verdi fights for this spot too.

we are being realistic. the reason why allegri got the job is bcos of how he plays with youth. I went to a friendly last year and Leo didn’t play any youngsters. but allegri is starting them against arsenals who are the best and we competed. yes they are unlikely to start in top half games but against lower sides and I believe that Verdi will eventually start over either borrileo or hunter. but I also hope they include the youth like Merkel and Oduamadi who played well.
for my own opinion the front should be something like this Ronaldinho/–Huntelaar/Pato.or ronaldinho-dzeko-pato Amelia, ilsinho, nesta, silva, bochetti, boateng, pirlo, ambrosini, van der vaart. Allegri will play a 4-3-1-2 just like in the Emirates tournament. It worked out well, and we only conceded goals and were dominated only when all the useless players were on, aka Oddo, Gattuso, etc. When we had our best line-up with the players available, we killed the opposition. agree w/ milanista. pls stop dreaming to have ibra/dzeko. we dont need them. we already have good players. CB are solid (nesta-silva-yepes-onyewu + bonera-sokratis). need more support on wing back as only antonini play solidly as defender. zambrotta-oddo are too slow & weak on headings. jankulowski maybe better than oddo but we need s.o stronger, faster & excellent on heading. may try bonera-sokratis-silva-onyewu as wingback. midfields r ok as we have lots backup like abate-merkel-strasser. they just need 2 practise on tactics & shooting!!! i prefer 442 or 4312 like we play against arsenal on 1st half. strikers, u all… Read more »
