Milan are chasing after Wolfsburg Edin Dzeko for weeks, and the deal has still not completed, as Wolfsburg claim their man is not for sale. However, Oliver Bierhoff say Dzeko can help us to forget Kaka era, after that moved to Real Madrid earlier this summer. The Bosnian striker is Milan no. 1 target and they work hard to bring him to San Siro.
Dzeko, who scored 36 goals in 42 matches, found himself winning the Bundesliga Player of the Year award. With his teammates, he brought Wolfsburg to a very special time last year, as he helped Wolfsburg win first ever league title. Bierhoff think that player from his kind is il Diavolo future.
“Dzeko scored a lot and from all kinds of different positions. He can do well. He is calm, balanced and generous,” Bierhoff told La Gazzetta dello Sport. Dzeko is not a name that known in every family, such as Lional Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo or Ricardo Kaka. “He is not a big name, but he is ideal for Milan’s economic situation. He has hunger and potential,” Bierhoff added.
When asked if Dzeko is similar to how he was as a striker, Bierhoff replied: “No, he is a lot more agile.”
Bierhoff turn his attention away from Dzeko, spoke about Kaka sell to Real Madrid. “I understand Milan’s sensations, but a reconstruction has to base itself on these people rather than old champions or those who no longer have desire.”
On being asked if he was referring to Ronaldinho, Bierhoff replied: “I am too far away to make a judgement on the transfer strategy.
“If what you say is true, the hour to limit big spending has now arrived. If you lack the funds, you need players of a limited price, but with potential. Dzeko is one of these,” he concluded.
Oliver Bierhoff played for the Rossoneri only for three seasons (98-99, 99-00, 00-01), scored 38 goals in 91 appearances.
Wolfsburg have no need to part with their prized asset and will only consider releasing Dzeko if they received a bid in excess of €30m.
