Back to action: Gattuso and Nesta are finally back

Gennero Gattuso is fit to play for something about two weeks as now also the former Lazio player Alssasndro Nesta can play.

Milan’s midfielder Gennero Gattuso was designated to do his comeback on the match against Juventus (1-1, report) but insists his knee is not ready for action in his situation, as he does not want to take any risks. “[I’m starting] To return to my previous levels, but it takes time. I can feel my knee is not yet ready,” He said. The player was out for something about 5 and half month following a damaged his anterior cruciate ligament during the Rossoneri victory over Catania (1-0) on December.

The 31-years-old is a real fighter as he was participated in Milan’s match-up against the Albanian national team, (3-3, but Milan won in penalty kicks) and played for an half game. It would take a while before he will be able to play 90 continuous minutes as reported on 13 May, after his returning match. “I don’t think I’m ready to play 90 minutes, but this was an important test for me, as I have regained courage,” Gennero Gattuso insists.

The captaincy candidate took part in Milan’s disgrace losing against Udinese last weeks but only called up without play as he still not in the best shape/form we can have him. I think his backing would influence a lot about Milan’s playing as he gives many energies to the team. Plus – we will won every match! (If fouls were what team needs to do to win) Now to some other injuries stuff: Milan had a big hole in the defense this season.

The main reason for that is all the injury players Milan as Bonera (who backed too as reported on 1 May), Nesta and many more are been injured for most of this season. The former Lazio captain is the one who make the best defense work in the last few season with the ‘Old-Man’ Paolo Maldini. Both of them are the best defense Milan have in the last years.

Nesta is those kind of players that don’t speak much and do a lot as he the base of the back unit of the Rossoneri. He was missing to any fan or player as he was injured during the Rossoneri’s training and carry along this injury since the end of last season.

In the last month, he even considered to retire for some reason. Maybe that means that he will not be the same Nesta we know. But he decide to stay and that only for good. “Will I retire? That is bad talk, and I will prove it,” he insists.

Nesta promise he will return as he said, “I do not know if I will return this year or at the beginning of next season. We will try now and if I cannot then I’ll make my comeback later.” No matter when, the point is he getting back and this is wonderful as he can fill in the hole that been made following his injured. Maybe he did not know that than when the quoting I took was published (10 May) he will return this week- on Tuesday actually!

The 33-years-old defender has back to full training alongside his team-mates according to Milan’s official web. Nesta has been doing specific recovery exercises since late February, however, it seems like soon he will get his full recovery and will be %100 fit to play. The Italian international took part in his first full training since last year, as he has not done any official appearances for over a year.

Nesta has appeared in the UEFA Team of the Year four times and made over 350 appearances in Serie A. Despite his recovery, it is unlikely he will be risked during the final two matches of the 2008-09 campaign.

More few players should back from injury. Marco Borrielo is one of them as he hardly fights on recovery and just do magic in his recovery thing. I hope they all will get back as soon as possible!
