Milan have called Juventus arrogant after the Old Lady mocked CEO Adriano Galliani who blamed Juve for not showing a decent replay of Carlos Tevez’s probably-offside goal.
Milan and Juventus have managed to turn a match with some moments of exciting and interesting football (at least for the neutral) into a childish and ugly battle of words as they’ve been exchanging assaults and insults on social media and through official channels all day (Sunday).
It all began yesterday when Carlos Tevez scored Juventus’ opening goal from a position many believe was offside. Milan would go on to lose the game 3-1 with Juve picking up the rather comfortable win over an inferior Rossoneri but Adriano Galliani didn’t forget about the goal of Tevez, who he failed to sign from Manchester City in Jan ’13.
“Unlike the other Serie A clubs, Juve produce and control the television images from their games at the Stadium,” Galliani is quoted as saying on today’s edition of il Corriere della Sera.
“They make a very clear decision not to show the replay of the move that leads to the first goal. I’ll kick up a hornet’s nest in the next Lega meeting to ensure the Lega can produce all the games, without allowing a club to control its own images. I contest the fact Juve are allowed to show only what they want to show.”
Secondo voi nel fermo immagine tv prodotto dalla Juventus, le due linee sono parallele? Per noi no #JuveMilan pic.twitter.com/VEanYEuQVf

Things only began with these Galliani statements which was followed by Milan’s tweet: “In your view are the lines produced by Juventus on this replay parallel? We don’t think so.” And this press release:
“Milan do not intend to stir up controversy, but make a clear and precise request. At this moment the 10 Serie A games are put together by six Sky directors, three Mediaset directors and one independent director. Milan ask that from next season all the directors are independent and do not come from broadcasters who have bought the rights to the Serie A matches.”
Juventus made things worse by replying to Milan, making a mockery of Galliani and his request:

“Mr Adriano Galliani, vice president and CEO of AC Milan SpA and vice president of the Lega Serie A, has decided to revisit two of his old passions: television and geometry.
“However, Galliani seems to be unaware of state law, of regulations passed unanimously by the LNPA assembly and, above all, of what happened on the pitch. Galliani is trying to create a farcical scandal in the media in a clumsy attempt to distract Milan fans from the clear-cut result in yesterday’s match: 3-1.
“For the sake of clarity, the full story is as follows:
“Galliani seems to be unaware that it is the Melandri law that entrusts the production of television images to clubs, something clearly stated in the ‘Guidelines for the centralised sale of audiovisual rights’ which were unanimously approved by the Lega Calcio.

“He also seems to be unaware that in order to prevent manipulation, the Lega reserves the right to appoint the broadcasters of individual matches and, therefore, also reserves the right to appoint directors and producers.

“He seems to be unaware that the production of audiovisual content by an organisation outside of the club is an option that only becomes active when the club in question informs the Lega that it is unable to proceed otherwise. He seems to be unaware that many clubs have thus chosen to delegate production to a body that acts as an advisor to the Lega itself, as a sponsorship broker and even as a producer.
“The about-turn made by Milan (i.e. by Galliani, who continues to be the club’s only representative in the Lega Calcio), in calling for the use of independent content directors, makes little sense. Galliani seems to be ignoring that such an option is not provided for by any regulations and would need to be debated and reformed.
“He seems to be unaware that any pool of independent content directors would most likely be formed – or provided – by the advisor/broker/producer alluded to earlier, which would then be in a position to draw up the rules, implement them and then reap the benefits.
“Galliani also seems to be unaware of the fact that all graphic elements (lines and so on) are applied by broadcasters in the post-production phase and have nothing to do with the live production of images, which is in any case managed by the directors and producers designated by the Lega, with no interference from other parties.
“Finally, Galliani seems to be unaware that for decades he has been operating in two main sectors: football and TV. He thus seems to be unaware that all technological, legal & regulatory developments have passed before his eyes, if indeed they have not been approved by Mr Galliani himself.”

Milan made the final statement, at least as of now, stating Juventus are simply arrogant:
“Arrogance is something that belongs to Juventus and they cannot get away from. Any response is superfluous to anyone like this. It is nonetheless good they too share this opportunity to discuss and reform the issues that emerged during the graphic elaborations of last night’s Juve-Milan incident.”
Sky and Mediaset dedicated a few minutes to discussing camera angles and basic geometry that caused the confusion and made Milan start the controversy. Fans on social media are also clashing.

Wow what an overkill response from Juve, its clear that they feel guilty and have to prove themselves. That line is ridiculous, and the offside was clear for everyone to see except for Juventini and the linesman. I’m not surprised though, they always have to win with some help of the referee no matter the opponents. Just think of their Clash with Roma earlier this season which Also sparked controversy.
It is a disgrace. In live time it was so obvious it was offsides, and then they show you the most idiotic angle over and over on replay. I don’t care if Juve has a much stronger squad it’s the principle.
So true… Thats the thing – its the principle, and it happens time and time again. Sure Juve were better, but does that mean that an offside goal should count? Absolutely not, and it seems like that from some of the comments here. Of course they get the upperhand once they go in front… Galliani is absolutely right to call them out on this, why shouldnt he?
Its not as if its the first time it happens with us facing Juventus either. Like you so wisely put: its the principle.
Juve Still buying games.. Thats why they only win in italy with their strong team. They go to champions league and do not even get to quarter finals. Everyone knows juve only wins inside the country
It doesnt matter Juventus could score at will anyway and they dominated Milan completely its like they said Galliani is just trying to distract us Milan fans sure it maybe was offside but i am sure that Juventus isnt buying games why risk everything they have built on a game that they dont need help for Yes they did buy games in the calciopoli but Milan was caught aswell dont forget that… I will Always be a Milanista but This is NOT the REAL Milan and i dont support these lazy overpaid amateurs they jog on the field they dont… Read more »
So as well as being embarrassed out on the football field through lack of investment and appalling mismanagement which is the real and only true reason we are getting bet by everyone we to have to suffer the indignity of our club being made a fool of and looking pretty pathetic by our vice chairman who thinks that last nights match was somehow won by Juventus because of bad officiating by the referee and his linesmen or indeed maybe it was because of the cameraman! It was because they are so much better than us you idiot and just to… Read more »
The line looks nowhere near parallel to me. Even if the goal was disallowed there was no chance that we would have won.. Juve’s response is so bitter it almost intends to make Galliani look like a neanderthal. Bottom line this is not good for the image of serie a
Yes the goal was offside but how does that change anything?. Milan already lost once Inzaghi submitted his team line up. Galliani always creating a smoke screen to divert attention from the reality and as usual, he got some deluded fans on his side again. Galliani should quit crying over spilled Milk and honestly, Juve needs to take responsibility sometimes, that line is simply ridiculous. I mean ”We weren’t born yesterday”
I dont think anyone is complaining that the match would turn out differently, but its the principle of the matter. It’s such a Juve thing to do and Milan are just calling them out on it
Yeah true, not saying otherwise just think it’s baseless, considering the fact that Galliani should be complaining about more pressing matters in Milan. We have bigger problems than one offside goal from a player who should have been wearing the Black & Red Jersey. Galliani should direct all that energy towards Inzaghi, he sure needs a lot of help… Peace.
Galliani please spare us this controversy and just resign
The defeat was inevitable,so all these noise Galliani is making is rubbish. Just accept these team is weak and after these last match I was finally convinced Inzaghi is clueless. And has that creature was given the captain handband it just shows how much of a joke these club and even down to the dressing room.
To everyone: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7L-ZthR6Mc (start at 2:00) Watch this clip and you will see that the Tevez was not offside. Compare the line to the grass mowing line and you will see it is indeed linear. Zaccardo made a horrible mistake though as he could have easily caught Tevez offside. That being said, this is a classless response from Juventus who really should know better. However, I think it is equally classless from Galliani to try to distract away from the result or even blame the result on that one incident. We were clearly not on par with Juventus, and we… Read more »
We lost and i respect.. that but still they havnt show us a parallel line in that video the lines are not parallel neither
The line is parralel, look a the mowing patterns in the grass. The line does not seem parrelel because the camera is right on the half way line. It is called perspective.
@N3G Your analysis sounds Juventini
My problem is this, how on earth will inzaghi field the three worst mid fielders in Europe, wah happened to suso and vanginkel who both can play a free flowing football for us. This same inzaghi played against real Madrid with a 442 formation, that alone has shown him that 442 is our formation for now with the caliber of players he has. So y play 443 when u don’t d players. Galliani should stop hiding from the truth and not distracting some fans, if I were to be among juventus management I wud just go mute and not reply… Read more »
Because his daft
Off-topic I saw niang against lazio yesterday and he was fantastic
Haha yes I know, Matri goes to Genoa and starts banging them in and Niang goes there and turns into Henry. Typical.
we maybe still lose, but this case was clear that official always help juve when face us. remember the last season? i think maybe this is the answer why juve dominate seri a but cant do much in euro. hope next season the official will more fair, FORZA MILAN.
Galliani just signed baselli. Forza galliani!!!
Forza milano! Just read Milan is at d verge of signing Daniele baselli to join dis summer. To me its good news to get him as it will really help us give flair to our mid field if inzaghi is going to adapt to an attacking style of play which modern teams play dis days.
Galliani is just doing all dis to make sure inzaghi succeeds but Mr pippo is inexperienced. God help us now he has almost all d players he requested for at his disposal.
Perspective my a$$. to make it simple, compare the offside line with the half line and you can see its sure an offside bcause the line is not parralel.
But it doesnt matter bcause this matters just to bring an excuse again about how Milan play badly bla bla bla. Even now Inzaghi and Galliani pleased with milan display against Juve. Wtf. what i can see dos we display that we are really a poor build team.
I’m really surprised people can’t understand a simple message, if that line is parallel, tevez will show offside, juve know what they are doing, things aren’t just right in Italy anymore, galliani has every right to complain, I remember the juve-roma game, I remember the Muntari’s ghost goal incident, I remember when the ball crossed the line against udinese @ the sansiro. What is bad is bad, games are decided with little details and that was one.
Its an offiside goal, fine! but that incidence isn’t what made us to miss ucl for another season. This team simply can’t win. Seedorf’s team wasn’t this bad yet the aroma of sack was already all over the place. We won’t get anywhere with mr. Galiani runing the show.
please any link to the baselli story? i mean that we have signed him? that will be good news indeed.
thanks.
