Inzaghi’s future – the Coppa Italia game is decisive, Tassotti to replace him?

Filippo Inzaghi could face the sack if he loses to Lazio tomorrow but Luciano Spalletti is unlikely to arrive, according to this morning’s reports in Italy.

Milan haven’t won a league match in over 40 days and coach Pippo Inzaghi feels the heat. After the 3-1 defeat to Lazio in Serie A, the players and staff went in retreat at Milanello and yesterday CEO Adriano Galliani had a meeting with Inzaghi before the two had dinner with the squad.

According to today’s Gazzetta, the San Siro match on Tuesday will be decisive for Inzaghi’s future. The pink paper claims that Inzaghi will ‘almost certainly be relieved of his duties’ if Milan fail to beat Lazio and get eliminated from the Coppa Italia, which is the seasonal objective.

If Inzaghi gets the sack then assistant coach Mauro Tassotti will most likely replace him. Tassotti represents a more affordable and available option than Luciano Spalletti who appeared a favourite for the job. However, the former Roma boss is under a contract with Zenit until the summer and his wages are too high. If Tassotti were to take the job then it would be until the end of the season.

Cesare Prandelli, who was sacked by Galatasaray represents an option for next season but it’s too early to discuss about it. What’s clear, however, is that Inzaghi has to beat Lazio tomorrow.

Gazzetta also gave some dressing room talks in their edition today and they claim that after the defeat to the Biancocelesti there was silence in the dressing room with Inzaghi not saying anything to the squad. It’s also claimed that Mexes was directly told by Galliani to apologize for his actions.

The paper also says that there could be a small revolution in the summer with the contracts of Mexes, De Jong, Pazzini and Essien unlikely to be renewed (there is “hope” for veterans Abbiati and Bonera) while Armero and Van Ginkel will finish their loans.

A positive result tomorrow will give Inzaghi new hope and maybe will have help him regain the enthusiasm of the early season which seems to have been completely lost.

Inter just signed brozovic. Milan has just wasted this January transfer window n the entire season cause of this bs man seriously how does my beloved Milan continue

Sanoske

This club has no vision again

John

But they never had one!

N3G

This is actually a blessing in disguise. Inzaghi will lose out to Lazio and we will be rid of him.

Tassotti will take over and prove to be just as incompetent, so he will leave at the end of the season as well, and we will get someone who actually has coaching experience and brings his own (competent) assistent.

Should of kept seedorf! He was getting us to use all the pitch spreading play , pushing high up the field possession football which seria a teams hate playing against! Pippo just plays like everyone else and with donkeys like..silly muntari , zapata!’ Circus star mexes! and a few others it will never work!! Just wish the old milan would come back :(

Pa ibra

Inzaghi might need replacing but i’d rather him finishing the season than this spalletti guy or tassotti. And if tassotti is that good then perhaps team would already be doing alittle better than this. Milan are not moving because of these small lazy changes. Just hire a good modern coach like montella or don’t hire anyone.

cocor

Why they have to call Acmilan name with every players on the market

peter kenyon

@cocer. because we are in need of them

Ted

Whenever Tassotti took control of the team, they won

cocor

But none of them ever come

160rm

Well Tassoti is assistant for many years and many managers worked with him… So he has knowledge

Sheva

Tassoti is a big reason why or defence been terrible. I personaly think tassoti should be the second to be fired immediately after galliani

Galliani and Tassoti should be fired already. But it wouldnt matter if berlusconi still owns the club.

The only solution for him is to sell the club

Ezra

What’s most disheartening is the fact that we always concede from the same types of play: 1. dead ball situations, 2. quick counter passes thru/to, or crosses from the left or misplaced passes!! It’s like the team has no coaches to study this game in game out!

Inzaghi’s obviously lost the dressing room, and I really don’t understand how after the start to the season and the positive run against Napoli, Roma and Real. Where that team went over xmas is anyone’s guess.

Cowmagnet

we convinced a football legend to retire to be our coach, fired him half a season later only to hire another inexperienced legend to be our coach and (probably) fire him, and then we’ll hire the assistant? -_- smh these coaches won’t have the effect Milan seems to think they will. Only well proven coaches can come into the club and change the culture. Wouldn’t mind Prandelli, but I really wouldn’t mind Inzaghi staying either, as he’s simply not the problem. The club internally is so backwards. You’re gonna let De Jong go, but hold on to Bonera and Abbiati?… Read more »

Seedorf’s spoken truth is maturing gradually. Many of his unwanted 75% non Milan material had been sold last summer and many more of them are visible now.The biggest revelation would be why Seedorf never wanted to work with Tasotti.Hahahahahahahahahaha.We shall see.

LionHeart

Because most of Milan/Italian players are not faithful. They are hypocrite and that’s why they sacked Seedorf. Berlusconi also said, he wants Italian/Milan. How many Italian player nowadays are like Zlatan, Inzaghi,Kaka,Gattuso, Ambrosini,CR7,Messi,Robben,ThiagoSilva,Nesta,Maldini,Cafu and so on and on and on. Most Italian palyers lately are just normal players . CRAP!!! B and G should just wakeup from sleep or better sell this club than hurting us!!!

rosso138

So, we offered 7m for brozovic, got rejected, and inter now sings him for 8… 1 million… Is this the club we have become? For 1 mil we let go of player…

Milanello

Well, Stephan is out for at least 6 weeks. What a shame. His right foot is his curse. Now its up to Lopez Abate, Alex, Rami, Calabria instead of Armero, or even me, or even you, just not him or mexes. Suso, NdJ, Poli Cerci, Pazzo, Menez. For the future we need, baselli, a left back and destro, to switch menez to the left until bonas comeback. and sell pazzo. Ah …. i fear the tuesday. My gf (Lazio-Fan) will laught all the night like the devil that we should be….Anyway Forza Milan. Earlier times i would have said, dont… Read more »

well, seedorf too was biased. let’s face it squarely. he never said anything we never knew either. he too should have had the common sense to leave rather than play to get an extension just like mesbah and co were doing. please stop all the nonsense of seedorf being better. he’s not. he is an arroogant fellow too, who forgot player’s contracts cannot be terminated in milan (we are too broke for that), and you do not cut off the head because of headache. he wanted to bring back the milan character by firing the whole backroom staff and bring… Read more »

Milan is lost if they use tassoti as head coach

Prandelli is the only man with good tactics
He has made the final in euro 2012
He can make milan forsure win of smaller teams

moyo

What a joke!!! Renew Bonera and Abbiati, but they might let NDY leave??? Dts so ridiculous. I ask myself if Messi or Ronaldo were to b Ac milan players now I’m 100% sure d mgt wld have sold both of em to balance d books and bring in Pandev or Drogba. Unless we have a change of mgt nothing good can come from this present people Galliani especially.

Sheva

Sack Inzaghi because he’s stupid as a coach! That’s it. He doesn’t know how to train and play the young talented players like Saponara, Niang, Cristante, and Mastour. But he sticks his ass with losers like Muntari and Bonera.

Sheva

Why are you using my name? Who are you

Nas

I think it’s your evil twin!!!!!!!

RKaY

Oh no!!! Two shevas!!!

abe

A blind dog could do a better job than tassoti

Whatistheawnser

If they decide to renew Bonera’s contract and put NDJ on the transfer list then I have no hope for Milan until B sells the club. They can’t renew Bonera’s contract.. It’s like putting a grandma in a F1 car while you have a Hamilton at your side..

Biggs4mum

Tassoti will be better than Inzaghi as head coach. For his years of experience as a coach will tell(Mourinho once serve as assistant coach, Gardiola, Sampdoria coach)

arber

Even if they kick out Inzaghi…no coach on earth can put this team on top 3
We lack everything a team needs.
We lack 3decent defenders,2wingers…a real striker,we sell youngsters (Aubameyang,Gourcuff,Cristante)
THis isnt how a team should react..;selling talents and getting rubish for free
We need to pump in cash to be on top again.
Berlusconi sais hes got no money or Milan got no money…the guy has 7Billion€ in wealth more than Real Madrid,BArcelona and Manchester combined

Ankur Tripathi

I’ve heard (on football-italia) that Conte might be our next coach. If he arrives and B starts to shell out some money then that’ll be fantastic. But I know none of that is going to happen
