Galliani on Robinho, Honda, El Shaarawy, Inter and more…

ADRIANO GALLIANI believes Honda will arrive in January, praises Robinho & says he’d play Messi as a 3/4tista at Milan.

The transfer market is very much alive these days but the Rossoneri appear to have just one target – Keisuke Honda – who may or may not arrive this summer, and after Robinho’s extension, Adriano Galliani believes Milan are fine as they are.

“Robinho is a great champion, and he has reduced his salary. He came from Santos and he has had a wonderful career. Robinho didn’t want to leave Milan. He just wanted to return to Santos,” the Milan Vice President and CEO told the press.

Highlights: Milan 5-1 Pergolettese
Bryant visits Milanello: “I have always been a Milan fan”

“Robinho refused many Brazilian clubs because he wanted Santos. We couldn’t reach an agreement with Santos, so we decided to continue together, which is why he has signed a 3-year deal. Robinho agreed to cut his wages and extended the contract. I told him ‘you didn’t do much last season, so you’re basically a new signing and have to prove what you can do’.

“If we will sign a player after the Champions League play-offs? We have signed many players in 2013, and we’re well covered. We played 20 Serie A matches in 2013, and we got 45 points. Juventus got 43 points and Napoli 42. We believe that we are fine as we are. If someone were to leave then someone will arrive. Our squad is competitive and we’re covered both in terms of quality and quantity. We’re the only Italian team that has finished in top 3 in Serie A in the last 5 years.

“I’m referring to the last 5 years because that’s what UEFA do to determine their rankings. Keisuke Honda? His contract with CSKA Moscow expires on the 31st of December, so he can negotiate with another club, which, in this case, is us. I think that Honda will join Milan in January because CSKA Moscow are rich, and they are asking for a lot of money to release him now.

“Honda is doing well in Russia, and he did well in the Super Cup against Zenit. It’s difficult to see Honda joining Milan now, unless some of Honda’s sponsors can finance the negotiations that are about to start. We think that the deal for Honda is too costly both in terms of his price and his salary, but with some external interventions the deal could be closed now instead of in January.” It’s said that Milan, with the sponsors’ help, can offer only €3m, while CSKA are demanding €5 mil.

“Stephan El Shaarawy and Mario Balotelli are great friends. If there is a problem between them then it’s a tactical problem and not a personal one. We received a huge offer for El Shaarawy, but he told me that the money that he’s earning at Milan is more than enough for him. He’s a Milan fan, and he’s very happy. I’m sure that he will have a great 2013/2014 season.

“If (Paris SG’s) Zlatan Ibrahimovic will return to Italy? It’s impossible because he has a very high salary which isn’t compatible with Italian football. In my opinion, he will never return to Italy. Who I would try to sign out of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Thiago Silva and Gareth Bale? Given the players that we have at Milan, and seeing as we’re playing with a trequartista, I would sign Messi and field him behind the strikers – not as a striker,” added Galliani.

“The future of Italian football is connected with the economy of this country. Foreign investors don’t invest in Italian football, because Italy hasn’t got much appeal. Thohir and Moratti? I don’t know anything more than what I read in the newspapers. I know that Moratti has done a lot for Inter. The Moratti family, just like the Berlusconi family, is a great Milanese family, and they have been protagonists since the 1960’s. There is a beautiful exhibit at the Palazzo Reale in Milano now, where there are beautiful photos from the Milan and Inter teams from the 1960’s. The Milan and Inter fans should make monuments of their presidents. We have won 7 Champions League titles and Inter have won 3. And we have won 36 Scudetti combined.

“We’re the most successful and most evolved city in Europe in terms of football. We must think positive. If Massimo Moratti decides to sell Inter, then he’s allowed and free to do that, but the Inter fans absolutely have to be grateful for what he has done. I have never been worried about Silvio Berlusconi entering politics because his passion for Milan is very strong.

“He has always been a great Milan fan, and he will keep on having Milan in his heart,” said Uncle Fester. On Tuesday evening Milan will continue their pre-season preparation with the TIM Trophy as they will take on Juventus and Sassuolo.

What is happening with milan. This defence that conceded four goals at nou camp last season. G&B pls consider signing solid defenders if we are going to lift any trophy. We should be ashamed of third spot in serie A, which is just play-off in Europe. Wake up Milan, wake up.

ChrisMilan

I still think the defeat against Barca had a lot to due with our midfield. C’mon… Muntari (played in the 2nd half)… Flamini…

They’re not Milan material.

roy milanista

Milanisti pls remember…conditions at AC MILAN is far from good & im talkin about the financial aspect of it..wen der was money B&G din think twice to bring in BIG SIGNINGS!! B&G love the club as much as we do..dey knw wat they r doin… Ppl talk abt the 60 millions from the TS33 n Ibra sales..well dat money has secured the wages of plyrs for 3 yrs!! Ppl are cryn abt STROOTMAN, did v rly need him wen v hav a plyr lik BOA??!! We lack creativity dats y we r after HONDA n LLAJIC … n im sure… Read more »

Can somebody tell Galliani to stop making unfortunate statements. Why reducing the great Milan to any wishy-washy club. Pls stop sir.

arber

I hate this sentence: We played 20 Serie A matches in 2013, and we got 45 points. Juventus got 43 points and Napoli 42

Yeah but we finished 3rde and Juventus was champion, so dont make stupid comparisons but look at buying some decent players so we can have a normal team again

Jonathan Gbaja

We could use some optimism in your comments of getting Honda. Seems you don’t really care when he’s coming my dear uncle fester. Although am always behing you #forzamilan

fyah-mayne

and i quote “robinho is like a new signing” and “we are fine as we are”……..its obvious that something is wrong here its either the club is broke which i find hard to believe as milan has made more off transges than any other club from the Shev sale to the pato sale to balance the Books and other revenues or this guy really thinks this squad is competitive!!!!

ChrisMilan

Ever heard of debts? :/

fyah-mayne

its seems like we are always in debts thats the point i am trying to get cross…every other teams are busy spending while we are busy talking about italys economic situation

Rez

How come a team like Milan, which is in top 4 from 90’s to 2007 has became like this??? Is it possible to be Champion in 2003, final 2005, champion 2007, and after that just debts!!! With all these sellings???? Ibra, TS, KaKa, Shoa, Pato…hasn’t helped at all??? financial Fair play?? Yes of course!!! It depends on Italy??? Even Lazio is acting better…Looking forward to see what will happen to Inter.

ChrisMilan

Yes, but it wasn’t a long time ago where Berlusconi’s company had been levied with a massive €560 million fine. People seem to have forgotten that. Even if B&G denied reports suggesting it would hit Milan’s budget dramatically, I think it kind of did. Also, we have to be patient. It’s like what Barbara said: “Football is always conquering new portions of the market. But many European clubs are deep in debt,” added Barbara Berlusconi. “If they don’t change strategy they are liable to go bankrupt. The model I’m thinking about is Germany. Winning teams with their books in order.… Read more »

In fact Milan have debts of over 200 Million, including bank loans.

I just hope we can reach German team’s financial status in the near future, like for instance Dortmund’s.

These are just speeches to calm down the fans if somethink breaks down. Currently, i can’t imagine that Honda will not arrive in summer. Galliani is not a blind man. He knows very well, that our defence isn’t good enough to win Scudetto. And he will work on it after the Honda transfer. But it’s obvious to me, that we have a bankroll which is not unlimited, so he wants to reduce Honda’s prize as much as he can – to make other important signings. On the other hand, if the Eriksen rumour is true, than along with Honda, Saponara,… Read more »

ChrisMilan

Indeed.

Milan4live

i knew this is going to be said by Galliani. He always refer someone who recovered from injury or similar situation as new signing. No way the same level of motivation the player has since he has been up an down already.

donsky

I request to filter baldy kojak comment…every time he made comment, it’s made fans more and more pain…

De GiustiMilan

Look at the facts, after signing balotelli in jan, we picked up 45 points in 20 games, where as napoli got 42 and juve 43, fiorentina came close to taking our 3rd place if it wasnt from a goal from mexes, keeping in mind he is a centre back, we have signed poli and saponara in the mid-field and in defence we signed zapata, who, may i add had a great season with us and vergara, now i dont know about any of you, but if you watched the under 19’s confed cup, vergara showed that he is a very… Read more »

Yes we ave signed poli and saponara but right now there jus talents with poli being the one that more is ready to play, can they contribute right away we cant say, and as for our defense it is far from perfect which we have seen in the barca match and others, we also lack depth there!!! so if one of mexes or zapata is injured who do we play vegara? the kid is playing for columbia under 21 and not there senior side so its gonna take time for him to find his place in the starting birth and… Read more »

We are fine … If you want to fight for a Europa league spot next season. Wake up …. Everyone is improving and we are not … We can not compete that way .. But hey if you like the Europa league then yes i can understand that you would think everything is fine…. Unfortunately I like CL , so things are far from fine….

abu

Honeslty we need to accept that we can’t afford to purchase expensive players, I too believe we can compete for any trophy as we are, although another CB + Honda will give us depth, and that’s what any club needs, Depth!!

I can’t wait for the season to begin and I can’t wait to see our new signings, mark my words, this is going to be a good year for Milan! Forza Milan! Fan from South Africa!

RKaY

Galliani is right. Cska are already rich and asking for too much for a player with an expiring contract.

De GiustiMilan

Its because players wages are too high, its simple we cant afford to pay their wages, other teams can

De GiustiMilan

Thank you abu <3

Sidi

Maybe we have more patient with B&G
We already prepare the rising star in new season :
Def : Vergara
Mid : Poli, Cristante, Saponara, Honda (maybe)
For : Pentagna

Calm guys, in January reinforcement will come just like Balo last year

Forza Milan

fyah-mayne

january = cup tied

Decorder

Do we have a promising defender in our primavera? Why can’t we just promote 1?

Abbiati70

this has nothing to do with milans transfer window but i wanna wish a speedy recovery to francesco acerbi who had to have emergency surgery for testicular cancer.

Hawk

Finally I’ve got someone who belong to the same lane as me.. We re fine now, with or without Honda… The people who want us to give our young players chance are the same people who want us to sign every player we are linked to.Bryan Cristante, Poli n Saponara for midfield, Vergata for defence..the attack is already good.. De Jong is like a new signing to me.

Raunisto

Believe On That “” all He Says about Honda Is just a tactics from his mouth. Sure after Honda’s arrival in this summer, he’ll say that “All I Wanted Is to see Honda in this Summer”
Sure were’ not cheap like that. And after this deal, we’ll sign another player who I think will be a central D

Kole

After Zapata and that youngster i doubt we geting any defender wth the current managements behaviour,…

Milan fan

We saw the maximum result with this squad last year destroyed by barsa and last minute fight for third place. Now,that was before Napoli,Juve,Inter,Roma and Fiorentina got stronger,I don’t even want to think how this year will be for milan. We can see that Baloteli wants reinforcements,if they don’t give them to him,I wouldn’t be surprised if he asks to be transferred next year. Who would want to play with Constant,Muntari,Bonera,Antonini in the same team ? Milan will lose all their fans if they continue in this fashion,I don’t say that we should buy like crazy or throw away 100… Read more »

With all due respect, I disagree about the fans. Maybe they won’t want to watch them, but Milan fans are loyal, I know that. Only plastic fans give up on Milan.

Summer mercato 2013 , Milan is interested in one player, and he will be coming in january…

Way to go Uncle Fester…

Milan4live

Robiniho is new signing for you guys, enjoy it…

Jibola

You all believe Galliani? wait till August and see the truth unfold. FORZA MILAN

Yehezkiel

why are people so worried about honda being cup-tied??? do you all honestly believe that even if honda came now and play in the cl that we would go as far as say the semis? i think not.. so either way be glad that we’re actually getting honda at all!!

Some Guy

With Honda we might. We would’ve got past Barca had Balo played; he probably would’ve scored that one on one against Valdes, and therefore Barca wouldn’t have scored that goal from the counter-attack to that miss, and the score would’ve been 3-1. There is a possibility that that could happen again, and nobody wants a repeat.

fyah-mayne

Its not about Honda being cup tied, its more about progressing from the group stages which we hardly did last season to increase revenue and we need the best possible squad to ensure that

Spencer

Did G&B gamble all th money they made over th past years?? Someone please answer!

Some Guy

The fact that Galliani chose a world class trequartista rather than a world class center back for Milan clearly shows how clueless he is about Milan’s problems. I know I’ll probably eat my words at the end of the mercato, as he usually surprises us, but at the moment the only defender that we got is Vergara (Zapata was with us last year, so he doesn’t count for me), and that’s frankly not good enough.

Jibola

Same fans who complain and bash Galliani now will hail him come August ending. I still believe in this mercato which ever way.

ladon

@Jibola, did you hail Galiani when he brought in Aquilani as our mr x?

Jibola

Why didn’t you mention Montolivo for free? why didnt you mention Zapata for 6mill?. I will always hail his work because nobody gets it right all the time, even Ferguson paid a fortune for Bebe a more useless player than Traore. Appreciate him for his works please and don’t judge him only by his mistakes which everybody makes.

Patience is much more like finding a virgin in a labour room for we fans but I repeat, Galliani will surprise fans come August with a marquee signing. I BELIEVE

ladon

People that said beign cup tied for a major signing is irrelevant knows little or nothing about football. If forgot that our 4 nil loose to Barca was with a rookie point man that is just learning the a,b,cs of football and we had a certain Balloteli in our squad that could have wreck havoc to the Baca defence had he not been cuptied. We refused to bring Montolivo to milan in january because we didn’t wan’t to make the sacrifise of few millions and as a result we lost the league to Juventus that same season as a result… Read more »

fyah-mayne

people are talking about about the barca matches as if balotelli played we would of progressed!!!! look at the quality of the barca team last season to the milan team….Barca obviously didnt show up that match an we made them pay for it, would we had won if they played there game? probably, probably not…..in the second leg they did there thing, who said balo wouldnt have a bad game like the rest of tha players? football is unpredictable but on paper the stronger side normally wins

ladon

ooh, you mean i should hail Galiani for the habit of sniffing around to see which player to steal? Not me.

fyah-mayne

By the way napoli just signed albiol and pepe reina, this is how a team strengthens after a massive sale, expect more to come from napoli!!!

I hate dis man (Galliani)

Milan fan

Jibola and you think that Zapata for 6 mil. is a good transfer ? PATHETIC. Zapata is good for the bench, nothing more.
Disgrace once there were players like Maldini,Cafu,Nesta,Stam in our defense, now ??? Zapata,Constant,Abate…..makes me sick !

if you people remember how balo was signed from city in january all of you will be certain that Honda will be in milan this summer. in 29th of january G said that signing balo is 99.9% impossible, in the next day we heard that milan signed balo from city. G always tries to show that milan has no high budget to reduce the price of any player he wants to sign. trust me if there is any competitive team to sign honda you would see G paying 10 mill without hesitating. but he is sure that honda will be… Read more »

Its heart breaking to see we cant even have a budget of 10m for the mecato :'( . Other clubs sell and replace…..we sell and leave a vacum! If a serie a club can afford ibra or not is not our problem, you (b&g) should decide if running this club is toi heavy for you pls sell it now! Its really getting emrassing day by day.

Pls for the benefit of fellow bloggers.. Uncle Fester didnt say “Robinho is like a new signing” as quoted by Fyne..he only said he told the man he didnt do much last year and have to prove himself like a new signing..

But i wanna see what gonna say mr. Galiani when some one else gonna get Honda in winter when his contract expires .. : We in Italy cannot compare to the teams in Spain or Englan or Germany ..so he left to Manchester United but we are not angry ..we are good as we are and Saponara is getting better , We can finish 3th this season but next season even 2cond,.. ,

Urby Emanuelson (Market value: 6.500.000 € )
Antonini, Luca (Market value: 2.000.000 € )

I see people here are not sure about ACM economy and why B&G are “greedy”. Some of you guys have probably been reading Swiss Ramble (blog about clubs around Europe and how they run it). If you have some time left to read, you might get the impression of what Galliani are talking about. http://swissramble.blogspot.no/search/label/AC%20Milan ..this article is old though, but here you got the numbers, money income, tax, salary, and etc.
