AN interpretation of the market thus far.
The Market. We all scramble around to figure out who Mr. X,Y, and even Z are, and despite our best attempts, we end up incorrect more often than correct.
That’s no reason to stop the speculation though, as that’s what makes the transfer window so exciting (as does a new cycle of buying players – no more Klass Jan Huntelaar as a marquee replacement for Kaka).
Joe Jordan: “Bale to Milan? Depends on him”
Constant issues plea to Milan
With that said, here is my interpretation of the Milan market thus far. Before I begin, I want to emphasize that I do not know the future, I do not know what we are planning, and I do not claim to know any information that isn’t available to all of you. These are my opinions.
I believe tonight to be crucial with regards to our confirmation of Axel Witsel. He will be playing vs. Turkey in the Euro 2012 qualifier, and will be expected to hold the midfield as well as push forward. Much like the qualities expected of our Mr. X. He also fits the “identikit” (which may or may not be real, but if it is, clearly was made with the intentions of this player fitting it). We seem well on the path to signing him, and I think this is just one last confirmation. I expect him to be our first paid signing of the window barring a disaster game.
We also seem to be waiting on a larger player to be signed (reports have been surfacing for the last few months that we had a budget around 60M for this entire transfer window, as well as the Berlusconi promise of a gift). A few weeks ago, I may have said it’s Asamoah or Hamsik. Last week, it looked like Fabregas or Schweinsteiger.
Speculating on who our big signing is, will probably ultimately prove fruitless, as no one until mid August could have guessed Robinho AND Zlatan would be coming. If I had to guess, however, as of now I would expect us to sign either Cesc Fabregas or Gareth Bale.
Cesc comes from Barca’s youth academy, playing in the same team as Iniesta, Pique, Busquets, Pedro…etc. It seems fairly obvious he will eventually return to Catalonia, but I believe he may make a stop before he returns. Xavi is still in his late-prime (and surrounded by a core of players just entering their prime – Iniesta, Messi et al.) and can continue doing what he does for Barcelona for at least another 3-4 years. I don’t think Cesc is willing to wait at Arsenal for another few years until he can become a starter for Barcelona. Barcelona does not seem to have him be a part of this current transfer market (they most likely seem to sign Rossi and perhaps Aguero. Wenger said they have not expressed a desire to sign him in this period, which makes me believe that if Cesc wants out, we could be a suitable destination. With Raiola constantly being spotted in London, it seems our big signing may come from there as well. But this may be a decoy. We will have to see.
If our signing is to come from London, then another possibility is that of the Welsh Left-Wing Gareth Bale, one of the most electrifying players when on form in the world. He has injury woes, plus Bale recently extended with Tottenham, which, like Schweinsteiger, makes me believe that he is not the man that we are going to sign, as this would require a fee upwards of 40M to sign either of these players.
A final signing might be that of Paulo Henrique Ganso. While we wait on the results of whether or not Italy will be granted a second non-EU spot, Ganso continues to recover from his latest injury. As time has gone on, Santos seem to slowly be softening their stance with the inevitable departure of Ganso looming ever closer. Ganso will leave Santos, and Milan seems his likely destination. The real question is whether he will be coming this summer (which is possible if Taiwo’s passport goes through) or if we will sign him in January, or even next June. I believe Ganso so be joining sooner or later, and for that reason, I have excluded players like Nasri who might be a summer signing, but would fill the Trearquista role. I believe us to be set on Paulo Enrique, and in the mean time, to use Clarance Seedorf and Kevin Prince-Boateng in the AMF role.
I’d love to hear what you guys think, as these discussions are some of the most interesting times for Milan fans.
Forza Milan!

I think Schweinsteiger would fit our team better than Fabregas. Both are amazing players thought and would be great additions. Tottenham want around 40-50m for Bale which is too much. He has had one good season of which he’s been mostly injured. If he can keep this form up for couple of seasons then maybe. Axel Witsel and Andrea Poli would be also great young additions to our squad and I’d like to see them both join us by this or next summer. After all Ambrosini’s , Gattuso’s and Van Bommel’s contracts end by next summer and we need more… Read more »
Poli would be great but I would only want him if a Senator left (Gattuso most likely). Otherwise, I think signing him would stunt the growth of Strasser, Merkel, Carmona, Fossati etc…
It definitely won’t be Pastore – Zampa said his starting negotiation price is 50m – he must be drinking too much wine I think. lol.
Pretty Good Article. I hope that Fabregas comes to Milan but I dont want Milan to give away their youngsters like Merkel, Paloschi, and others. I hope they dont sell Emanuelson as part of the deal either. Because he’s a very good player but he just hasn’t had a proper chance to prove it. But whenever he comes on, he brings energy onto the pitch, just like boateng did when he came. Ganso is a very good player, he basically has everything. Speed, strength, passing-ability, agility and he is also pretty tall. I think Milan should try to get him… Read more »
Wow sweet, if u say we might have about 60mill to spill i would buy: Ganso 25mill, Witsel 12m, Astori 6mill, and another top class midfielder for the 17m or perhaps a midfielder and another LB…………Forza MIlan!!!!!!!!!!! Have faith in Galliani and Co………
Also, we spent 10M of that already on KPB and Paloschi and 8M on Zlatan’s first payment
LOl ooh yeah, so lets forget that extra midfielder :P
I heard that milan want another striker maybe adebayor or drogba.i hope it hasnt reality .we need 2 midfielder.
Apparently we need someone to cover for Ibra when he’s out on his red-card streaks.. Maybe that’s why the talk of Paloshci being shipped out.. I personally wouldn’t like that..We should keep him around..He’s heir to Pippo’s throne..
WE JST NEED A WORLD CLASS MID FIELDER=CESC,VDV,BALE,GOURCUFF.any of them wil do
Gourcuff will not do at all…
He was cut from our squad for poor training performances, and has since been floating around the French league.
Fool me once shame on you…
yes, I agree, gourcouff is overrated, and I really don’t think that Fabregas is a good choice at all, given the fact that he’ll eventually leave and in that case we might need to reconstruct again. As I said before, I think Asamoah and Basti are the best choices, however Wtsel is good too, let’s hope he impresses this night aganst Turkey
i feel thats a bit biased from you considering you think the ligue 1 is mediocre ;)
As much as i’d love to see Fab playing in our team, it seems highly unlikely.. Schweini seems more realistic than Fab does.. Cesc did admit to favoring Milan in the past (during the 2008 window)If Cesc does land up at Milan, wouldn’t Barca be bidding for him too? Or maybe Arsenal’s gonna sell him to us and facepalm Barca by keeping them out of it..and then we’ll rip off Barca again (like we did for Ibra)by selling him for super-profits..that seems like a shrewdly clever business move by Galliani.. But then again, nobody’d predicted the Ibra+Robinho move..so it’s hard to… Read more »
Not to disagree with you @ Vasquez, but Fabregas hasn’t tasted what it likes to be part of the Milan family. So, yeah he wants to play for Barcelona, but if we treat him like we’ve treated every other players, plus the trophies, he’d be with us for a long time.
I think Fabergas would be a suitible choice for milan, along with bale if he can stay fit…
I heard the same thing about milan wanting another stiker yeah Ibra has his temper at times but i would hate to see drogba or adebeyour in the RED and BLACK, they are ball hogs and look at how they both have acted in the spotlight (yeah john terry and goggs have tone worse but)
honestly jesus navaz wouldnt be such a bad investment either, saw his name in a few “off the wall” reports
Finally I have to tell you the secret of Mr.X…he is DANIELE DE ROSI…negotiation is on progress and almost done..
That would be amazing if it were true. The guy is a rock in midfield and contributes in attack as well. But if we buy De Rossi, I’d imagine we also buy an AM. De Rossi is creative, but not creative enough.
So he’s grown a full head of hair by now ?
But yea, de Rossi would be oh-so-awesome !!!
Lets just wait and see right?
I wouldn’t want Drogba or Adebayor at Milan. Rather give youngsters playing time so they can fulfill their potential.
We have 4 world class strikers in Ibra, Cassano, Pato and Robinho. Also Inzaghi has shown that he has that class still so I wouldn’t be worried about our attack.
Now that midfielder and then January or next summer Ganso to replace Seedorf and I’m happy.
Daniele de Rosi? Hope thats not true….we need a creative midfield a playmaker……and about the 60M to spend dont we have to pay 24M for Ibra and already paid about 10m or sth for Boetang Paloschi and Amelia? (i dunno?)
That means about 26m to left only? :(
Ibra’s 24 M is spread over 3 years, so 8M in 3 payments.
Enough! I am sick of all this speculations! Lets wait until 31st of August. And lets hope we get Ganso asap, if there is problem of EU spot then lets kick out Taiwo.
Why wait until the 31st of August? The market is open before then! Lets kick out Taiwo? Are you nuts?
lol ganso is overrated! i thought he was great at first but hes not MAGNIFICENT!! and yeah lets kick out our best LB for ganso!! BEST IDEA EVER!!! *sarcasm*
more stupidity
this Pato is pile of shit
oh btw Italy and Belgiums match started
mentioning Italy cuz of Cassano i hope he proves himself!!!
and Belgium uh…is leading the Frontline with Witsel and Hazard guessing Witsel gonna play AMF…
i think we need nasri
Jux watched the friendly btwn ghana and congo and boy i gotta say that asamoah is indeed the REAL DEAL. ac milan would be making a huge mistake if they miss out on asamoah. by the way KPB totally sucked in that match
taking a bet won’t be much better, as for everyone we all know what we want at that midfield role. Fabregas is d only option now, he can fill in d gab left open since kaka left for madrid. Ganso is a good player buying him also is even gud should incase of fabregas frequent injuries, as for bale he doesn’t hav d qualities yet to be a milan star. Imagine d midfield wit prince boateng- fabregas- nd mark van bommel, wat it wil look lyk, i really think fabregas, ganso if necessary nasri would be a perfect match of… Read more »
Witsel missed a PENALTY!!
a trully nice writing. well done. i do hope that galliani will bring the right players to milan. no need to spend big money for star players that cannot blend with milan. forza milan!
OMG!!! Why did he have to miss that Daamn Penalty. He played pretty well through the match. WoW! LoL, he skied that penalty aswell. I hope Galliani still wants him. I think he needs to learn how to play as a Attacking-mid. Because when I was watching the match, he kept trying to hold-up the ball and waiting for others. But he should try to put a through ball in for the ST. But there was only 1 ST on the pitch, and he wasn’t too good. Hope Milan get him soon. for around 8mil InshahAllah. FORZA MILAN—->
LB has being our headache for about 2-3 years now. We’ve someone who can atleast play better than Antonini and you think we should let hin go? Lets get a utility midfield player who is basically a CAM, ANd get co ownership deal for Poli. Witsel can be useful right away be he’s definately not going to be mr x.
i just read some news : 1. arsenal are willing to sell fabregas for a minimum price of €54m. 2. bayern munich are really interested in signing hazard although lille want to hold the player. so, it seems that bayern are preparing a replacement for schweinsteiger or ribery. the questions are : why do bayern want to release their WC players for a belgian boy who does not have experience playing for a big club at a very competitive league? what do bayern see from hazard and why do milan prefer to sign experienced players with a huge price rather… Read more »
“Pato Is Brilliant”
SHUT UP everybody is laughing at u.
Personally I’d prefer nasri over ganso but what the heck either one would do I guess they are both qulaity players! :D I say nasri cos there is no EU passport restraint meaning he can come this summer! whereas ganso may have to wait till january or even worse next summer :(
Milan too slow to the market!!
Sheesh. you don’t jump in the market right away. No team really is. You can get ripped off that way.
Budi shut the fuck up you scum bag, low class jerk. What have I said wrong, huh? If we miss Ganso and he goes to Inter because of Taiwo then what will you say then. Stupid moron.
How can Inter sign Ganso? answer that one. They are going after Sanchez. They aren’t even interested in Ganso.
does your mother know you use that kind of language? She should wash your mouth out with soap, a kid like you shouldnt use that sort of language
Another name that has come up is Juraj Kucka… it is said we agreed to sign him in 2012 from Genoa, but I hope it is sooner (and other reports he may come sooner than that possibly this summer). He’s an interesting player. He’s a Slovak… has a lot of stamina and strength… a left sided midfielder. Similar height, build and hair as Allegri mentioned lol… tho we all know he was kinda joking about that. Anyways… check it out. He’s mentioned pretty much everyhwere. Preziosi said there is an unnamed team doing business for him… we can connect the… Read more »
@Pato is Bri
just shut up….stupid Ganso fan
hmm….Honestly i nvr heard of him…..and i doubt it about Hamsik…better to get players from other leagues…we dont wanna end up like La Liga do we? 1st and 2nd always the same……
While I don’t agree with what he says about Taiwo, Ganso is a great player we should buy immediately.
And what’s wrong with Kucka? Watch some Serie A for a change. Genoa constantly buy new players from other leagues. We just buy their players for cheap. Don’t see the problem here.
did you saw montolivo against estonia? he was amazing! he is a must sign, him plus ganso and europe will be afraid of us
I think Kucka would be a goood signing if we get him for less than 10 mil. But i still dont think that he is the ‘BIG PLAYER’ that Berlusconi promised.(He might have said that just because he was happy about Milan winning the Scudetto, I hope not)…I think it’s alrite for Milan to buy players from lower clubs in serieA because they’ll be cheap. But Milan shouldn’t buy the top players from other big teams in Italy, unless they’re up for sale. And it’s good that Berlusconi doesn’t just care about Milan, he also cares about italian football in… Read more »
