Jean-Clair Todibo is the first choice of Milan for the defense, but Barcelona do not seem open to a loan with obligation.
Milan are looking to strengthen the squad in January and one key area where Paolo Maldini, Zvone Boban and Massara want reinforcements is the defense.
Barcelona’s Jean-Clair Todibo has been identified as a target and in the last weeks talks have been ongoing between Milan and Barça for the 19-year-old central defender, who only made 5 appearances since joining the Spanish side last January.
As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio on Sky Italia, negotiations for Tobido continue and Milan are trying to get Jean-Clair on loan with obligation to buy. However, there is no agreement on the figures: Barcelona want €25m with the option to buy the player back for a predetermined amount.
According to Friday’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, Boban and Maldini are in constant contact with Barça director Eric Abidal, who found Tobido at Toulouse and brought him to the La Liga Champions. Barcelona need money and are ready to sell the youngster, and Tobido himself also appears to be willing to move to Milan. However, the possibility of a loan does not feasible.
Negotiations will continue over the next weeks, Milan appear to want to get a new partner for Romagnoli. Per Milannews.it, one center back could leave in January if Tobido arrives.

i watched inter – barca, and this guy is real deal; big, strong, no-nonsense approach, very good on 1 on 1. if he comes he’ll be perfect match for elegant romag. like i said, to have good cb pairing u need a clean, technical leader (like rio ferdinand) who will act like sweeper/marshall and strong, no nonsense defender (like vidic). musa – romag, hell even de ligt – bonucci aint really successful because they are all basically same type of cb, and just as bonucci needed hardass chiellini and now demiral, romag needs todibo. i hope milan can get him… Read more »
I agree. Romag needs a physical badass next to him who can handle strong physical strikers like Dzeko, Mandukich, and so forth, not to mention helping in one of our weakest areas which is set pieces. Todibo seems to check all boxes, but I’m personally worried about his age and lack of experience. Buying a player at this stage of his career is always a gamble. And like you mention, the buy back clause is super annoying, and I can see Barca insisting on it all the way to the last minute. Of course, Koulibali is the perfect buy here,… Read more »
correctamundo mate. im sick of watching dzekos or icardis of the world scoring free headers on milan because milan defenders aint capable of beating them in the air. also, i dont know about u but seeing todibo bullied martinez and even lukaku around like rag dolls really brought smile to my face. bailly is similar to todibo though not as physically imposing. however, im not so sure if he can perform as well as he did before after long injury. likewise umtiti or yanga mbiwa. regarding kessie as cb, like i said way back, good dm can make good (emergency)… Read more »
We can play musa as a dm he’ll do better there and play kessie as cb. I say we give it a trial if we don’t get a cb in January.
Kessie play as cb ? He will not accept cause he always think he’s messi =)))
I’ve seen Todibo against inter and he looked good but at his age I still think this is a gamble. Why not put faith in Gabbia who showed that he is capable of playing in the senior team? Personally, I would prefer if we target a more experienced CB like Demiral, Eric Bailey or Upamecano. It’s difficult for me to see Milan use another CB ahead of Caldara and Romagnoli partnership unless we are planning to sell Romagnoli now that Raiola is his agent.. Musacchio needs to go and Gabbia will most likely leave on loan hopefully with no option… Read more »
And why does musachio has to go?
Anyone else here know about this rangnick bs? Set to take full control as manager/director of sport/nutritionist. Basically giving him a role similar to Sir Alex ferg? What makes this guy so special that we’re ready to make another total REVAMP?
i think its just baseless rumour. whats his merit actually? besides, red bull is such a garbage beverage
Todibo is perfect but Barcelona won’t let him go for easy at least they wil put the deal buy back clouse
well, cant blame barca for doing the right thing, right mate? cant afford to expect that life will be easy either. that much self entitlement will only destroy. if anything, milan should learn from barca (and madrid) on how to scout young players and not letting them go that easy without buy back clause
Milan 10 we are better now our management is trying to get a quality players one by one our previous management use to buy 5 quantity players +we got monceda one of the best scouting staff
correctamundo mate. i mean, theo, leao, bennacer, krunic, rebic, these were logical transfers on paper and some like theo, bennacer and krunic have proven themselves right away and im sure leao will prove himself as well soon. and now theyre targetting todibo, olmo etc. its safe to say milan is in right hands, at least compared to li brothers era
He would be perfect, as many of you said already – strong, big, nonosense CB who will complete Romagnoli the ball player with his physical presence. I am still a bit dissapointed why they went and waste 15 miilions or so on Duarte in summer when they already had Gabbia
I am beginning to dislike Maldini and Boban’s mode of operations can drag feet like there is no tomorrow. Get this guy signed already. And we really wanna play 433, why not sign kuluvski for the right wing, Everton for the left wing, then sign Bakayoko as dm and push Beneccar to the eft as cm. My 2 cents
The only thing missing from last seasson is bakayako. He was by far the greatest player on the team. Now he is gone and deffensivly we are a mess.
