Mario Giuffredi was at Casa Milan today and the names of Jordan Veretout and Mário Rui were on the menu.
The business week started today and Casa Milan welcomed agent Mario Giuffredi, who represents Andrea Conti, but also represents Milan targets Jordan Veretout of Fiorentina and Mário Rui of Napoli.
“The meeting was good,” Giuffredi told reporters as he left the headquarters. “If we talked about Veretout? No, we spoke in general. A possible operation? I don’t know, we didn’t specifically talk about players. Mario Rui? We’ll see… the new management made an excellent impression, as always.”
According to Sportitalia’s Alfredo Pedullà, the meeting was ‘positive’. Pedullà claims that Veretout is a priority for Technical Director Maldini and within 2-3 days an official offer could be formulated and sent to Fiorentina. Milan like the 26-year-old midfielder and seem willing to invest over €20m.
Pedullà believes that Veretout is considered the ideal midfielder for Giampaolo, while Stefano Sensi and Dennis Praet are also on the link of Milan. Roma are also interested in the player. The Frenchman made 33 appearances last season in Serie A, scoring 5 times while assisting 3 times.
The possibility of signing Mário Rui, 28, was also discussed but as suggested by Sky’s Luca Marchetti, today’s meeting was more for Veretout than for Rui. Pedullà adds that should Milan make a move for Rui, they’d first need to sell one of their left backs, most likely one of Diego Laxalt and Ivan Strinić.
The transfer market of Milan is alive and they are looking at different profiles. RadioRossera’s Pietro Balzano Prota reports that the Rossoneri are keeping an eye on Lorenzo Pellegrini’s situation as well.
I really like Veretout, he’s a very good player that doesn’t get enough credit imo. He’d be a very solid addition, but more than 20m is pushing it. I still think we’d need another creative player in midfield, one of a higher quality. Signing Rui would just be stupid. We’re on a tight budget and still need to invest heavily on a SS in addition to the midfield. Can’t afford to waste money on unnecessary signings.
Rui is a solid LB. Better than Ricardo Rodriguez in my opinion. Laxalt is on his way out and Simic will be leaving as well.
Therefore, we will need another left back. We already have Conti and Calabria for the RB position. So signing Rui makes sense.

Let’s go after Luca Pellegrini instead. Rui is not an upgrade to what we already have. at least Luca Pellegrini is young, better and has lots of prospect ahead.
IDK much about Veretout, I’m a bit concerned that we are getting untested players. Inter get Barella, Juve Rabiot and we end up with these 2. but judging from the reports our midfield will consist of:
Paqueta
Sensi—–Veretout
Torriera(hopefully)
And I know that we are in a very hard position with UEFA, but Veretout and Sensi?? Hopefully these guys will prove me wrong.

Sensi can play regista and mezzala, so he is also a CDM ! He put Locatelli mostly on the bench last year ! Calha will be mezzala or trequartista ! Krunic is mezzala and sometimes trequartista ! Paqueta will play trequartista, but he played under Gattuso mezzala ! Kessie should know if he will be here next year ! Veretout is a regista !
Calha should be sold like Kessie and Suso. Krunic should maximum be a sub.
And why aren’t we trying for Lo Chelso or Dani Ceballos? They are really good too. Or how about an attempt for Van de Beek?
To be honest all of them have the same or close to Suso’s value. we could trying buying any of those guys.
