The treble winner revealed after the match that he has an offer from Italy and there are reports that his demands are already known to the Rossoneri.
Ignazio Abate is almost certain to renew his contract but Milan have been linked in recent weeks with a move for departing Barcelona fullback Dani Alves who will be out of contract on June 30th.
The 32-year-old last night played in Barca’s 3-1 win against Juventus to win the Champions League, thus winning the third Blaugrana trophy of this season.
After the match Dani spoke to Sky Italia, stating that: “It would be a pleasure to join Milan. There is a proposal from Italy and I will evaluate all the alternatives before deciding.” The main obstacle is obviously the salary and according to Sky’s transfer guru Gianluca Di Marzio, Alves wants €6 million per year from the red and black devils.
New funds could arrive from Bee Taechaubol’s shares buy but this remains a lot of money for Milan who are also linked with a move for Paris Saint-Germain’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

No thanks.Go for a younger and cheaper fullback. He doesnt deserve 6 m anymore.
there is no better right back than him
there is Danilo from FC Porto
already gone to madrid
Rather go for Darmian? Knows serie a, young, promising, cheaper, fits in berlusconi itallian milan…
But not free.
True, not free, but Dani Alves on a 2 year contract is 12 million. What would Darmian require in wages and what is his price? What would his total cost over two years be? Comparing overall value, and not forgetting that Darmian in two years still has sales value, and in any case is likely to sign a three or four year contract wherever he transfers to, or that Torino is more likely to be interested in an exchange deal than Barcelona, who would have no use for any of our players we can afford to depart with, the only… Read more »
I agree that Darmian will be a better purchase as he will be a long term player rather than a 2-year solution which is what Alves will be, assuming that he stays fit. He will also start losing pace and stamina and the fullback position demands a lot of it while Darmian should be peaking in 2 years. But the problem is that Milan management don’t want to spend on transfer fees thinking they are saving money but they end up losing so much because of this policy.
Just dream about dani alves+suso on one side and abate+shaarawy on the other side of the defense crossing the ball the whole game with ibra up front lol and a decent midfielder creating opportunities for those 5
Abate can’t play LB.
thanks but No thanks. we need someone younger, and 6million per year? please
I am all for signing Alves because even at his age he is arguably the best in the world in his position. Abate cannot cross to save his life and is very inconsistent. Am sure he can be convinced to lower his wages.
I agree with you.. Alves is easily in the top 3 full backs in the world right now. If i was galliani i do not think about it even once considering we will get him for free….
And people complaining about the 6 millions.. In my opinion i prefer to pay 6 millions to alves than spending 4 on players like muntary essien bonera montolivo pazzini zaccardo lol just saying
Sorry but Monto is good player
Eh. He has his moments. He’s not Muntari/Bonera bad, but he hasn’t been as good as he should
it would be pleasure to see Alves in ac milan , even if he is 32 there is no right back better than him …
I love this guy
For me everyone have his own opinion but for me is a gud he is the best right back in the world and he is free I will not mind to pay him €6 sometimes in football age doesn’t matter but Milan is paying mexes €4 who is not solid so why not Dani I have a great feeling next season Milan will make the different forza #milan
Milan can still reduce their bad players such as bonera, zaccardo, mexes, pazzini,Abrattizi, zapata, etc and save there wiges and give contact to the good player’s
So, we sold TS right after he signed a 6m per year when he was the best CB and much younger and now we want to sign an aging Alves for the same sum per year? More management idiocy, I see. Another Zaccardo vs. Pirlo deals. Next, we should sign Ibra on a 6-year deal and Pepe on a 5-million per year.
Luca Toni on 7 mill would be next… He is the capocannoniere after all.
Looooool…!
Sarcasm of course.
At that time Milan was financially restricted, had to let Silva go, now with $ in the bank we can afford to pay wages for quality players
We could have trimmed our squad and got rid of the deadweights instead of selling our best player. We had about 36 players at the time and trimming out 4-5 of those would’ve saved a lot on salaries.
Dang so many people bashing him, yea he’s 32 but if it were between Alves and Ibra, I’d go for Alves not only because he’s free. But knowing that he does have the ability to get along with other unlike almighty Ibra. And he’s probably the best there is in his position in the world But I will say that youth MUST be our priority. And a massive overhaul of the usless players that are taking up space at milan. And does anyone have a firm idea of how much $ is given for transfers because with only speculating numbers… Read more »
Eh, yes, but we also complain when they sign mediocre players, so what exactly is your point?
Nobody said we prefer another Muntari on 4m over Alves…
Personally, I would rather get Darmian, a Milan youth product and 8 years younger. We could probably get him for about 18 m, Alves’ salary for 3 years but while Alves will deteriorating, Darmian will be peaking.
And how you know he will be peaking? What has he won in his career? He will never be as good as Alves, even at his age.
Well said also
And how do you know Alves will show the same level with Milan?
Out of sense
Lets say we buy messi or cr7.. Are you 100% sure that they will play as good as they play for barca or madrid?
I was only responding to Luke’s question of how do you know Darmian will be peeking. It’s an expectation, juat like expecting Alves to continue playing at the same level. The difference between signing Alves and Cafu is that at the time, we had an excellent squad starting from Maldini and ending with Sheva. The only position that needed filling was RB after we had to play Simic as a RB when he was a CB. Right now, the team is so bad that RB is the least of our worries since we have 2 decent options for it. We… Read more »
I totally agree with you. We better buy a cb a midfielder and a striker.
Totally agree. Don’t understand why Milan Management cant see that. I’m also tired of Milan signing out of contract players who are not in there prime. Alves only has maybe 1-2 more good seasons left in him and that’s not a wise investment.
If we have to spend on a RB then get Danilo or Darmian. That way we can build for the future.
If we talking about distant future, I dont see any point of getting darmian at all while we already have abate and not to mention De Sciglio on RB, but Alves on the other hand is a different beast. Comparing Alves with Darmian is just downright preposterous.
I think that midfield should be our main concern this summer… And all I see is attackers and defenders linked to Milan… Dont get me wrong, it would be great to have Alves and Ibra in team, but who will be playing in midfield?? If we really get some cash flowing this summer, signing Alves, Ibra, and Luiz Adriano or Ayew (if they haven’t already got a deal with other clubs)… all on free transfers, maybe we will only need to pay for Ibra.. Signing Cuadrado from Chelsea (he came for 31, now we could get him for cca 25m?… Read more »
i like your opinion. i guess that will require about 70m which is not bad considering the quality of that squad.
Why spend on Cuadrado when there are Ayew and Konoplyanka available on free and far better than Cuadrado in my opinion
Cause he is proven good in serie A… Btw I mentioned Ayew… It would be great to have both, right? :P
Oh and we just refused to sign Khedira for about the same salary when our midfield is really lacking but that’s probably because he is only 28.
Signing Dani Alves is a real joke especially for his wages. Darmian is a better option, younger and promising. I don’t understand why we would signing Dani Alves when Abate is a quality right back, maybe not as good as Dani Alves but good enough.
Darmian and abate are not even half of alves bro common
If Darmian is not half of Alves why are teams like Bayern Munich looking to sign him and not Bayern Munich? I am sure Pep Guardiola knows him well since he signed him. Look at David Alaba? who was he before Bayern Munich signed him? Barcelona signed Aleix Vidal to replace Dani Alves. Who was Aleix Vidal pior to Sevilla coach Unai Emry signing him from Almeria? He was a youth player at Barcelona like Darmian was at Milan. It would make more sense to sign Darmian OR Danilo over Dani Alves, why? because long term it benefits Milan to… Read more »
Class comment, bravo nick! Agree 100 %.
Ok so everyone wants Milan to bring in top players and now that Dani Alves may arrive, lots of you so called experts say he is too old or too expensive. Well guess what, he is not too old, he is one of the best at his position and good players cost a lot. He would be a great signing for sure and would make Milan much better! You want great players, pay up!
We want to build a team that will last for several years. Think how we got our most recent excellent team, we bought Pirlo at the age of about 21, Seedorf, 25, Gattuso 21, Nesta 25, Kaka 21 etc. That’s how you build a team. You buy quality players at their young age and they become part of the club. Now compare that with our “good” purchases of recent times: Ronaldinho is one of the best fantasistas/terquartestas in recent times but he only lasted 2.5 seasons with us and collected 8m per season for below his peak performance; Ibra: is… Read more »
I don’t disagree, but with his signing being the first after the reported influx of cash, I remain skeptical. It would do us no good at all if he becomes the only arrival of his quality level, and we have to go through the whole “year zero” bullshit again two-three years from now. As part of a major overhaul of the team, sure thing. As a single high earner in a squad of mediocrity, I would rather see the superstar salary (remember the ibra and kaka years, when Milan “could only afford to have one top erarner in the squad?)… Read more »
think about serginho and cafu..they aall came to milan at this age…and alves is healthy and experianced..
Serginho was 27 when we got him. Cafu was 32 but you really can’t compare Alves to Cafu. Cafu is miles ahead of any other RB in the past 15-20 years.
Why does so many of you have a problem with his wages?? Do you seriously think your going to get a rolls Royce full back for less?? If Milan are to be taken seriously then those are the wages you may get used to seeing because your not going to get the absolute best for anything less than top dollar and if anyone doubts about how good he is then go back down whatever hole you’ve been in for the past 6/7 years and haven’t noticed him He’s won everything at club level on a consistent basis for the past… Read more »
He was injured for more than half the season either last year or the year before. Adriano had to fill-in as a make shift RB at the time.
Christoph Kramer from Germany won the world cup.does it make him a fantastic footballer?there is no logic in your sentence.of course alves is not a bad player.but we are here in serie a. A rb has to play perfect defending and dani alves is not a perfect defender.he is a good winger.thats because alves was not the best rb in the world over the last 7 years.phillip lahm was. Ivanovic and zabaletta are way better as rb in traditional sense than him.Alves never looked solid when he just had to defend.barcelona had always the ball.so he never had to defend… Read more »
Good player or not, there are many better options. If he was that good then barça would never let him go. They already bought vidal as his replacement and we should go for a younger and talented fullback
So this means De Scilgio is either deployed on LB or bench and by reports that Mihajlovic wants Kolarov at Milan i guess he’ll rot on bench. Sad
But i’m all for Alves, he is still one of the best RBs in the game and he can give a lot, hopefully it will turn out like it did with Evra in Juventus
alves is looking for a payday with milan and i hope milan dont get em, we dont need rb, we need cbs and a new midfield+ striker. right now apart from bonaventura and de jong no one else is good enough to play on the milan midfield right now, id say buy 2 more cms and and a striker . If we are getting the money, it should not be wasted on old players with no potential for the future, we need to be building milan for the future-not the present. Getting alves will only be a temporary solution. we… Read more »
If Alvez and Ibra help us get back to the UCL their salaries will be worth it…
We need to rebuild for the future, not for the next one or two seasons. He an excellent fullback but his presence may interfere with de sciglio’s development, ie; choosing Alves over DeSc in important games.
Further more he only has two more years in his legs tops. If you watch la liga you would have noticed Alves is slowing down, he is not slow yet but he is not as fast as he was in say, 13/14 season. And he is certainly slower than Jordi.
This is the same as ibra. Two expensive, talented short-term solutions.
If he joins. What happens to our full backs? We will probably sell De Sciglio… Classic Milan, i think Alves is good and would bring a lot of experience to us, but… I dont want to lose De Sciglio who is TEN years younger and can so much better, we have all seen his potential. If Alves comes and nothing happens to De Sci, except that he learns, then i’m for it. Perhaps we can mould De Sci into a centre back.
Yup great.. Glad to see you back…!
Lol thanks man, of course i appreciate your comments and insight on things as well.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
milan cannot want to have top players without spending and I dont think having around 3 over-30s should be a problem to the youth movement. alves and zlatan(thou he’s not my type) are not the same as our usual 33yr old purchases like alex. these men can make differences. we haven’t been link with a top player directly for a long time and people are rejecting this lol
I still do not get most of you guys.. You cannot build a winning team full of kids or eather 8 kids and 3 trash players. You need some good experienced players to guide our good kids.. What lesson is suso getting from lets say muntary? Lol or desciglio learning from watching bonera’s movement. Haha guys common we need two top class players we already have the young players
Im just going to ask you a question.. How old were pur players when we won the champions league in 2007? Were all of them 22 years old players? I think they weren’t
No, they weren’t, but the same core of players had been playing together for a long time and were of a high quality. To replicate that we would need to buy players with a future ahead of them and see them develop over 5-7 years. Winning earlier by purchasing top class players is possible, but that is going to take a lot more than 220-250 mill. Look st what Chelsea, Man City and PSG spent each summer the first three-four years under new ownership. Is Bee going to pump in a billion euros a season? If he is not, then… Read more »
Bro that question is just out of place.. Lol how you come we buy cr7.. Are we sure he will play as good as he play with real?
Cafu joined Milan at the age of 33. I think Alves shud be replicate that and also add quality to the squad. The top brazilian players are missing in milan for quite sometime. Go for it.
y do we want a younger player …we already hav de sciglio…we want quality…players like alves can help to upgrade our youth…our youth have to refer the playing style and technique from older players…and who is there for de sciglio to refer..zaccardo….abate is there..but u know..abate and alves are like north pole and south pole…the problem with milan is that..we lack quality players with experiance…and we need someone like him..there is no problem in having 3 or 4 quality players at their 30s
Sign one of them only
Dani Alves and Kolarov
We will have strong full backs
Rb- Alves, Abate, calabria
Lb- Antonelli, MDS, Felicoli
Now we will need two CBs 1 young( doria) 1 experienced( subotic/ hummels/ thiago)
Two quality midfielders (bertolachi/Soriano and veratti will be Okay)
Two Strikers( ibra and gabigol)
we r linked with doria and ramagnoli
Guys even I believe youth should be a priority. But look what happened after we let go of Pirlo he has played 2-3 of his best years. If we are getting a world class Fullback for free who’s probably the best in the world we should not think twice. Becoz rich clubs will inflate the market and we might need those funds to sign quality players. We need a team which has a mixture of youth and experience with Alves and MDS on either side I feel we will be solid. Instead use the money we saved and get a… Read more »
No
If alves was still that solid, barca wouldn’t be seeking for a life after him already! Dang! Alves has nothing to play for anymore!
You guys must understand one thing… There is two possible outcomes to this.. 1. Bringing old stars like Alves, Ibra – they bring sponsors, they bring expirience and short term happines – if we want next year serie title we need to go for them 2. Bringing young talents like Doria, Darmian – they bring long term solution for positions, BUT not next year serie a title (but maybe next 3-7 years they could bring all the titles – serie a, ucl, coppq itallia) Problem is that our managment want results NOW and they want money NOW, we have already… Read more »
Thiago Silva, Dani Alves and Benatia, thats what we need for our backline!
Rami, Paletta and/or Mexes as backups for CB, Abate for RB and Antoneli vs De Sciglio for LB
Just to sum up, this will be an excellent but very unwise signing. Milan will get a temporary solution for a problem that doesn’t exist but it will drain the very little resources we have.
My only problem is the wage demand. Milan is not a pension club to pay players their last lump sum but technically this guy will offer at least 3 fantastic seasons.
i like to see Dani Alves in milan.. if only his wage below 4mil.. otherwise we cant improve our financial aspect.. after all we still out of CL or EL next season..
Dani Alves would be a great signing for us De Sciglio on the left and Alves on the right Milan should try to buy Aymeric Laporte as CB but it will be hard to find a leader in midfield players like bertolacci baselli wont be enough to bring us to top 3 we need Verratti… Cuadrado on the right wing is a must i cant stand seeing Honda there and Suso is not quite ready to start there yet
Alves, Ayew, Konoplyanka are freebies worth of a consideration this summer… Maybe throw in Ranocchia for bench
i read that inter will give him a contract
Cerci and Menez out with Ayew and Konoplyanka in on bosman as their replacements and i’ll give Galliani a high five… And maybe a cookie
*drooling while dreaming*
Milan surely needs this guy.. Don’t forget too easily that milan used to have aged defenders , remember maldini, pancaro, costacuta ?? How old were they?
I’m a maybe on the alves deal… But there have been so many players linked with us in the past, 48 hrs it’s crazy, recently Jackson Martinez, British, hummels and gundogan, and ibra…. I will start to believe where that serious when I see a headline stating that we have bought any of these players for 20+million. Then I will start to believe that this is real. You can be linked with great names, it’s a whole other situation to buy. If we r to be serious and buy, players like gundogan, hummels, ibra, and Jackson Martinez are most welcome… Read more »
I really want to see de sciglio in cb a times
Some fans here are beyond hypocrites. As far as I know anything concerning the fullback positions isn’t a problem and if Milan are interested in getting Dani Alves it isn’t a bad idea but we should be looking for a long term prospect Like Darmian as many has suggested. Sometimes I asked myself between fans on this blog and B&G, who are the liars?. Last season majority wanted Abate out because many preferred MDS but at the beginning of these season there was a plot twist, Abate was in superb form while MDS sucked pretty much and then suddenly the… Read more »
