2012 Summer Mercato comes to an end

80

MILAN HAVE signed 10 players this mercato but also waved goodbye to a big amount of players.

The market is now officially over and Milan did not make any move on the last day of the transfer market, finishing their mercato with the signing of Dutch midfielder Nigel De Jong from Manchester City.

The mercato started slow for the Rossoneri who took their time and some transfers in the last week of the window, capturing Giampaolo Pazzini, M’Baye Niang and Bojan Krkic to complete the strikers department.

Allegri: “Milan will improve through results”
Bologna-Milan: The Rossoneri squad

Milan opened the mercato with two Bosman signings in Riccardo Montolivo and Bakaye Traoré and also captured Gabriel. Kevin Constant arrived on loan after the injury of Sulley Muntari and Francesco Acerbi came to strengthen the defense with Cristian Zapata. Pazzini, Niang, Krkic and De Jong all arrived late.

Didac Vila came back from loan and is now remaining, though Milan were trying to sell him off. In the departures department you can find bigger names compared to those who arrived in this mercato: Sandro Nesta, Rino Gattuso, Clarence Seedorf, Flavio Roma, Gianluca Zambrotta, Mark Van Bommel all left with expiring deals while Milan did not use their option on Alberto Aquilani and Maxi Lopez and sold off Merkel.

The Rossoneri also sold three of their best players this summer, as Thiago Silva and Zlatan Ibrahimovic left first to join Paris Saint-Germain in a €62 million deal, and an unhappy Antonio Cassano left for Inter in the striker Giampaolo Pazzini deal as Milan had to add €7 million to the deal to complete this swap deal.

Possible Milan line-up considering the current injuries, according to this morning’s La Gazzetta dello Sport (screenshot)

Milan of course also loaned out some players but they were never considered real first-team members (Edoardo Pazzagli, Michelangelo Albertazzi for instance) and signed Sulley Muntari after his Inter deal expires but that doesn’t really count as a new signing. Milan completed an above average transfer market as they sold their two best players to Paris Saint-Germain but brought new names to start the new era.

Milan surprisingly didn’t move on the last day as they were expected to make a left-back signing. The reason they didn’t make any signing appears to be Djamel Mesbah. Milan were keen to sell him but the player rejected all the proposed moves during the summer. Milan were considering Antonelli and Peluso.

Milan did not bring Kaka or any real big name in July-August. The two non-EU spots were spent on Gabriel and Zapata and Massimiliano Allegri can now focus on the players he has at his disposal and work hard.

Great Job Galliani

Nasko

Im kinda disappointed. I expected a leftback and Kaka! :(

namo

overall I am pleased to see Ibra go and we can start playing some good football again, I hope.
No more punt it up the park to Ibra to see what he can do and how long before his petulant side gets him a 3+ match ban in the French league too =D

Juninho

Grade: 6,5

Truongdang

Many name come. But not enought for any title… May be Galliani hope in God. We have a bad boss!

Bash

Where are those fans who bash Gallaini all this while

maldini3

why not KAKA?why????????carier kaka just end…grazie RICKY for all

makAveli

Grade 5.5

makAveli

Kaka was a must and i dont care the economics lecturers on this blog who are going to talk about 16mil bla bla. How much was injury prone Van Persie? How much was doubtful Pazzini? How can Pazzini be worth Cassano + 7mil. Which of our 6 attackers have genuine Champs Lge experience? Who is the star of the team? As if De Jong is going to win us the scudetto.

makAveli

Too many panic buys will cost us in future. Muntari gets injured and you quickly get Constant, when in the end you went for De Jong. In my opinion only about 5 signings were needed and the youth promoted to act as cover. Of the 5, i mean Motolivo, De Jong, Zapata, Mbaye and (one of Bojan or Acerbi) the rest were not needed at all

makAveli

Now we will forever see KPB play behind the strikers, whiles he and Badu(udi)sat in front defence for Ghana during the world cup. Knowing that he is injury prone, who will play there when he is injured? Allegri will push montolivo there, after monto himself said he is not comfortable there. We were never linked to VDV so there is no point talkin abt him

shark

Wen u missed on kaka how did u lose ur chance to get afellaye or vandervat, Wats wrong wit u guys, HE WAS OFFERED TO US, DAMN YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nyemasem

Am not happy with this mercato b’cos mesbah, traore and bonera shd have been sold. We needed a LB,CAM and a CB.

arya

too many people here suck up to kaka for god sake forget about him hes 30 and we need younger players thats it!!

Acorn

That is why instead of getting Constant from Genoa Rather get Merkel Back

afeez olawale

wot wll bee wll bee, lets hav faith in GOD nd pray 4 de team, alegri wll try is BEST nd GOD wll HELP him forza milan !!!

Ouch!

Am overall happy with the mercato now its upto Allegri to play his cards right i.e. dont play Bonera in defense, give Bojan a chance, play with tactical variation (4-3-3, 4-3-2-1) etc etc.

Btw according to juve fans their new signing Bendtner is better than both Bojan and Pazzini hahaha! Deluded much!

Rico

now:

– abbiati –

abate – bonera – yepes – anonini

montolivo – de jong – nocerino

– boateng –

– pazzini – robinho –

Future:

– gabriel –

de sciglio – zapata – acerbi – didac

flamini – traoare – constant

– emanuelson –

– pato – bojan/sharaawy –

Rico

i mean 1fst and 2nd squad, sorry not now and future

alchemist

Bendtner’s a decent squad player, but to say he’s better than pazzini and bojan is just ridiculous. Considering the names that juve were linked with this transfer window, bendtner is a disappointing buy tbh

manee

Now let’s see the Magic..

Kyle

this was a big disappointment. Milan needed Kaka desperately. there’s no focal point in the team and no game changing player. Milan could have gotten him for 12 million after the Modric deal. they would’ve also made a ton of money from shirt sales for Kaka as that would be the only jersey fans would buy. I feel a big part of why he didn’t come was because Allegri didn’t want him and because of stupid signings like Constant and Traore and spending an extra 7 million for Pazzini. i don’t see this team improving under Allegri. I kind of… Read more »

Must de jong start from the bench,Mr Allegri? When sneijder joined inter on transfer deadline day mourinho played him d following day against milan, even cassano started inter’s first match of d season.Allegri needs to b a bit flexible nd start using players like zapata and acerbi and not keeping them on d bench at d expense of bonera and yepes all in d name of being a new player.

redwithblack

Wow this must be the worst squad milan ever had in history with the.worst coach in italy för sure. All u Allegri fans, we Will se his true colors now. Galliani???? Cassano for pazzini plus 7 millions? And we have finacial problems? The world is laughing at Us, milan deserve so much more. Im Sorry milan, i still love u but it hurts

Colinpath26

OMG,y on earth didn’t mr.G gt kaka.4 God’s sake who in ds squad’ll create the goal scoring chances we’ll nid.binho?who can dribl a whole team n @ d end fails 2 utilize it.kpb?who feels lyk a supasta bt he’s nothn dan an over-bloated mediocre player.d no-gud panzzini?our glass-boy pato?wot if monty gets injured.NDJ,is gud bt he’s not d scheemer we nid 2 get goals bt 1 2 stop us 4rm conceedn.has my milan moved 4rm a title contender 2 a team dat only plays not 2 conceed goals?oh,hw i wish ds 9tmare’ll pass.

Stephan Kareem El Shaawary

Allegri is just stupid he’ll start Ambrosini,Bonera and Yepes next match and if he does that l hope we lose.
As for mercato lam not satisfied yeah we didn’t get Kaka it’s okey but we El Kaddouri slip (2 M was to much for us) and he’s one of the most talented players out there. We solved the DM position but our main problem will be a creativity we have players like Boateng,Nocerino,Montolivo and Emanuelson and only last two give some creativity but lets be honest we can’t do much with them.

makAveli

Watchin Atletico Madrid vs Chelsea. This is the mark of a good team. No such star signings nor do they play a rigid formation. But a delight to watch. Just wonderful

Stephan Kareem El Shaawary

@mak4veli we don’t ask star players either but talented not limited like Traore,Mesbah,Antonini,Bonera…
Iam not going to judge Constant and Acerbi

jose

According to “el diario Il Giorno” Real
Madrid and Milan reached an agreement
today’s morning in which the brazilian
Ricardo Kaka goes to the italian team
on a 2 year loan deal with an obligation to buy of 12ME the 30th of june of 2014

The operation collapsed due to the
negative of the footballer to reduce
his salary from 10ME to 5ME per season.
The source indicates that due to the refusal to this request, Kaká ‘s father , Bosco Leite , was unequivocal. A decisive “no” that threw away his return to Milan.

mohammed

I believe this is how the squad should look…..
Abbiati
Abate. Mexes. Zapata. Didac villa

Montolivo. Dejong. Nocerino

Boateng

Pazzini. Bojan

jose

@Rico

That’s how you see milans future line-up??
In 3 years I think it gonna be like this:

————–Gabriel————-
De Sciglio–Mbiwa–Acerbi–Maldini
—Boateng–Cristante–Montolivo–
——–Carmona/El Shaarawy——-
———Pato—-Niang/El Shaa—-

Rico

no
this is our first and second squad

Nicholas

bendter = juve .. Hahahahaha thats soo funny!!!!

makAveli

@Jose lets follow the timeline of the kaka story for a sec. It was clear we wanted him from the start. After the milan v madrid game he was in our changing room for 30mins. The problem became Mou as Kaka was reported to have reduced his wages to 6mil. Milan last week called the deal officially off bcos galliani said madrid were unwilling to let him go on loan, after the samp defeat, Galliani categorically said that he was flying to madrid for kaka. He STUPIDLY said the next day that he was not going anymore after being adviced… Read more »

Lebanese Milanista

In 1999 Lazio brought top world class players
Milans coach back then was Zaccaroni he was asked about his opinion of Lazios formation

Do you remember what he said ?

I don’t need 11 stars on my team I need 11 players and Milan won the Scudetto back then

Yes we had bierhof maldini and other stars but my point is let’s give the team a chance before we can judge these transfers

The calcio just started and its way too early to say we have a good or a bad team

Ted

Why didn’t we take Essien on loan? Instead of Traore and Constant?

Stephan Kareem El Shaawary

@Nicholas l don’t know what’s funny he came on loan and at the end of season Juve has right to buy him out.
Juve got Pogba free,Asamoa and Isla for 18.4(half of their contract),Lucio for free and Giovinco ( I don’t know the details of that deal ) by my opinion they did a really great mercato.
EDIT: l forgot that they bought Gabidani

Mikey

I think Juve had to MOve Immobile in that Giovinco deal, not 100% sure tho.

Andyk

This is who Milan have let go of this transfer window
Roma
Zambrotta T Silva Nesta Taiwo
Gattuso van Bommel Seedorf
Cassano Ibra Inzaghi

What a great team.

And we got…
Gabriel
Zapata Acrebi Traore
Constant deJong muntari
Montolivo
Pazzini Bojan-Krkic Niang

Sigh. Gonna be a long season.

Stephan Kareem El Shaawary

Christian Maldini is real milanista check his twitter @ChrisMaldini

Acorn

Lets just pray that Jan transfer we sign Mbiwa, that Allegri gives Didac a chance, because I think he is better than Antonini and he is much younger, end of the season get Merkel back, Ignore Kaka and there you have it what ever happens next is up to G&B, though I think they should of put themselves in the transfer market, and get Leonardo back he has a good eye for spotting talent.

pippo

Galliani a few months ago: “Milan will sign a champion.” So… who exactly is that?

Forza1899Milan

De Jong is a champion. Man City won the title last season.

makAveli

For all those saying kaka was perhaps too old i don’t know what u guys are smoking. An old man who scored 8 and made 14 assists for madrid last season is good enough than Bojan and Pazzini combined. Even if we went for El Kadouri do you think a player of 19 from serie B can cause damage to the likes of United in Champs league? Stop looking for Messiahs like El Kadouri and Sharaawy who i think has a very very long way to go

Stephan Kareem El Shaawary

Mikey Immobile is in Genoa ,co-own deal.

Forza1899Milan

I’m very happy with Krkic, De Jong, and Montolivo but the rest of the market was garbage. First, although I don’t like Ibra, Pazzini is not going to fill his shoes and he’s not worth Cassano and 7 million. Second, we signed way too many midfielders. Third, we didn’t sell enough players. Fourth, we still lack a quality LB.

Afalley of barca pls

Wat a disgrace..i regret suportin milan good bye milan beter i suport liverpool dan suport a team dat can hardly finish 10th dis season

Ted

goodbye

Nyemasem

I don’t believe in this team with bonera and ambrosini as part of the team. I wish them well.

Jerry

I get a headache just watching that defensive backline.

kalle klovn

Champions 2012/2013

Abbiati
Abate Zapata Acerbi Emanuelson
—-Nocerino De Jong Montolivo—-
—————–Boateng——————-
—————Bojan Pato—————-

kelvin

You sir are welcome to leave…..gloryhunters are forbidden in this team!!! ForzaMilan

kalle klovn

Do you think there’s any gloryhunters left on this blog by now?

Rico

didac vila, muntari and pato should be fit and @ 100% til january
and then we get rid of mesbah
buy yanga mbiwa, rossi and yarmolenko/merkel
next year yepes, abbiati and ambro retire

future can come and i think we can be proud of our team

dapint

I’m sick and tired of galliani’s mercato cheap popularity…… he is always all over the news signing players that are not needed……..we need an creative/attacking midfielder in van der vaart or ben arfa….. my formation for this season would go like this (4-3-2-1) Our Traditional Christmas Tree Formation.

…………………. Amelia………………

De Sciglio…. Acerbi…… Zapata…….. Vila

Boateng…………. De Jong………..Nocerino

…….Montolivo………… Bojan………….

……………….Panzzini………………..

This formation can help us be 3rd at the end of the season(though far-fetched) and any formation apart from that we would lose the game.

Ouch!

Most of u guys need to stop being so pessimistic and start being more optimistic! At least give them a chance we are one game into the season. Chill! Judge them in May or at least in January, not now!

Milanooo

You are a real Milanfan when it is bad times and when it is good times. The real fans are the ones who stick with the team forever no matter what stop complaining all the and start be a real fan. My colours are red and black never liverpool no matter what. Once Milan always Milan!!
We have de sciglio , bojan, el sharaawy , boateng , pato , didac vila who needs to get well and then get a chance…
Acerbi
