Marco Giampaolo’s farewell from Sampdoria should take place tomorrow, while Claudio Lotito seems reluctant of letting Sporting Director Igli Tare go.
The first day of training ahead of the 2019/20 season has been scheduled for July 8, and the man who will coach the players on this day is Marco Giampaolo.
The agreement between Giampaolo and Milan is complete: a two-year deal worth €2m a season, with an option for a third year. However, things have not been announced yet as the 51-year-old tactician is still under contract at Sampdoria.
According to Sky Sport 24, Giampaolo is back from his vacation and has been in Milano for a few days. Tomorrow (Monday), he will have a meeting with Sampdoria President Massimo Ferrero, in which Marco is expected to ask for his release that will allow him to sign the contract with Milan.
Paolo Maldini managed to get his first choice in Giampaolo, and also identified Zvonimir Boban as the right profile to take care of the political aspects of the club with different institutions. Boban’s arrival is still not official either, he is tempted by the project but first he needs to be given his release by FIFA as he has been acting as the Deputy Secretary General for the past three years.
As for the sporting director role, Igli Tare is the man Maldini wants. Gazzetta dello Sport, il Corriere della Sera and others suggested Tare has decided to stay at Lazio and accept the new contract offered to him by Claudio Lotito. But Sky says that Milan are still waiting for a definitive answer.
Maldini is evaluating alternatives for Tare and this week will be important to understand who will be working alongside the legendary captain with the goal of bringing Milan back into the UCL.
