Igli Tare appears to be the man Milan want for the DS role, but Claudio Lotito has to give the green light.
Milan are in the process of building the new management: it’s already known that Ivan Gazidis is the CEO and Paolo Maldini is the Technical Director while Zvonimir Boban is expected to arrive from FIFA and have an important role as well.
A key piece of the puzzle that is still missing is the identity of the sporting director. Maldini cannot fill this role since he does not have the needed credentials.
Many names have been mentioned in recent days, including that of Manuel Rui Costa, but according to La Gazzetta dello Sport this morning (and as reported by many others in the past few days), Lazio’s Sporting Director Igli Tare is the person Maldini wants for this position at Milan.
La Gazzetta claims that ‘long negotiations’ may be needed to free Tare from the hands of Lazio. Gianluca Di Marzio suggested that Tare at the moment is considering the pros and cons of accepting the offer of Milan. He has a contract with the Biancocelesti and Claudio Lotito does not seem too excited by the possibility of losing the former Albania international striker.
“Rumours about Milan? It’s part of our profession, we must maintain a balance,” Tare told Albanian website top Channel. “It’s positive in a certain sense. You also need to know how to handle it well. What’s important for me is that I’m at a big club and in a very familiar environment, which is important for getting results.
“If Milan temps me? I can’t predict it. Lazio are a very big club. What’s important is the present moment and to be happy and feel good. To succeed in my field it takes to have the right enthusiasm and to be surrounded in a positive environment. This is one of the main things that then creates success. As for tomorrow, I can’t predict it… because I call Lazio a very big club.
“But since I’m a professional, everything can happen in our world.” Like American football teams in the NFL draft, Milan are looking for the best person to recruit, and their eyes are on Tare. La Repubblica on Friday morning claimed that Tare is the favorite of Elliott as well, but also listed the alternatives Milan are considering: in addition to the aforementioned Rui Costa, who is the current sporting director at Benfica, there are also ex-Verona Giovanni Galli, Atalanta’s Giovanni Sartori, ex-Roma Frederic ‘Ricky’ Massara, Sampdoria’s Carlo Osti and Bologna’s Riccardo Bigon.
Il Giornale meanwhile reports that Boban’s return to Milan is getting closer and closer and that the Croatian will be working alongside Maldini in technical decisions but will also deal with the political side of things, using his experience at FIFA to work with the Lega, the FIGC, ECA and UEFA.
The new Milan is taking shape: with Gazidis, Maldini, Boban and perhaps Tare in key managerial roles, while the new coach will be Marco Giampaolo, with whom everything is already agreed.

Giampaolo is apparently happy with having Patrick Cutrone, Krzysztof Piatek and Andre Silva – who has returned from his loan spell with La Liga side Sevilla – as his three strike options.
i think it is just fair to give silva one REAL chance in a two man strike formation..
And like or not there’s still Borini, making him Milan’s 4th striker

Guys we paid 40 mil for Silva. Let that sink in for a second, while you also consider how much we paid for Piatek. A team in our position should spend 40 million only on starters which can truly upgrade the team; not a third striker used as an “experiment” or whatever.
Silva should be sold whether we are playing 1 or 2 up front; if he stays it should be because the coach wants him as a starter.
@Baresis Dream….I totally agree. 100%. Honestly I don’t think it is a good idea to keep Silva. But I’m sure the coach will decide even though I wouldn’t mind if we trade Silva for Schick who did well under Giampaolo.
Good strikers are hard to find these days and I thank Leonardo for signing Piatek who will a monster under a good coach.
Just get on with announcements already so we can focus on the market. I am nervous about what will happen, who will leave and how they mean to construct the team for next season.
The only department that is ready and set for Giampaolo’s 4312 is attacking trident with Piatek, Cutrone and Paqueta (Silva, Borini, Hakan as current alternatives)
Biggest concern is as usual, midfield but additions are necessary in defense also, at least on fullback positions
The newspaper reports that Milan consider Cutrone to be too similar to Polish forward Krzysztof Piatek and are, therefore, considering the sale of the Italian forward.

Where is Suso in this “already set” attacking trident? Are we giving Paquetta the keys to the team? Are we keeping 40mil Silva, and 30mil Hakan on the bench while our staters are worth less than that? And naturally I agree about the midfield. Spot on Baresi, im worried from what im hearing as well. Latest rumors is we set up a 30mil tag on Kessie which is ridiculous, he is one of the most talented mids in Italy together with Barela and Bentacur, just as an example Cagliari is asking 60mil for Barela lol. Kessie had a good season and is only 22, he is a natural athlete the only thing he needs to improve its his technique and that is something that you can improve with tranning he has huge potential. @rossi – I remember there were rumors from England offering 50mil for Kessie. I personally don’t rank him so highly as I think his technique won’t significantly improve (although he should learn eventually to play to his strengths), but he’s arguably the most physical player in Seria A. And he’s durable and can play 120 minutes without breaking a sweat. I think we should fetch something higher than 30mil for him, and we should have a proper replacement in mind.
I think he can become one of the best box to box mids, the potential is there for sure. But yes my point was that as well, those 30mil are to low for a player like him in todays market. 50mil is the minimum i would ask for him, if his technique improves just a bit his price will go way up since he poses everything else and is still only 22. Well Rossi when the rumours sounds too stupid to be true they propably are wrong so i wouldnt worry too much about us selling kessie for 30 mil. If i remember correctly then Kessie was loaned for 8 mil with a buyout obligation clause set at 24 mil so after two years at our disposal selling him for less than we paid sounds unlikely especially as the player has been a starter since he arrived. Well yes we only talk about rumors, nothing is official not even Maldini is official yet, but thats what we got so far. Some rumors will turn out to be truth some false will have to wait and see but i get your point. For Kessie there are plenty sites saying Milan set up a tag at around 30mil for him, dont be suprized if they accept something like that it may sound stupid but we have done a lot of bad transfers in the past as well nothing new. I get that but just because a lot of sites post the same story doesnt really make it more correct as they just run with the same story as eachother nothing new in that as its common practice by news outlets. I’ll argue that its a small percentage of those stories that hold the slightest truth to them in the end. Lets assume kessie actually does get sold then im pretty confident to say that we will get a better deal as the player most likely would end up in the epl.
