Patson Daka is wanted by Milan and the club is trying to get the transfer over the line before the deadline.

After talks to sign Mehdi Taremi from Porto collapsed on Thursday, Milan quickly moved to a different target and began negotiations with Leicester City, who were relegated from the Premier League last season, for Patson Daka.

The 24-year-old, who previously played with Noah Okafor at Red Bull Salzburg, has been identified by the Rossoneri as the best option from those currently available to act as the alternative to Olivier Giroud in 2023/24.

According to Sky Italia and others, an agreement has been reached between Milan and Leicester and the deal is for a paid loan (believed to be €2m) with an option to buy at the end of the season. Personal terms have also been agreed (reportedly €1.8m per season).

It is now a race against time, however, as Daka is from Zambia and is therefore a non-EU player. The machine of Milan is at work to try to resolve all the issues relating work permits and get the transfer over the line before the mercato shuts down at 20:00 CEST this evening.

Daka didn’t exactly set the Premier League on fire last season, scoring 4 goals in 36 appearances. Milan will hope he’ll be more serviceable than Divock Origi, who is still at the club.
