Malick Thiaw will become a new player of Milan as they have finally got their hands on a new center back.

It’s been an eventful day for Milan, as after beating Bologna 2-0 at Stadio San Siro on Matchday 3 of Serie A, it became known that they have also agreed a deal to sign Schalke’s 21-year-old Malick Thiaw.

The Rossoneri have been chasing a center back all summer and tried to get many different players, notably Sven Botman, Evan Ndicka, Japhet Tanganga and Trevoh Chalobah among others.

In the end they managed to get a deal with Schalke for Thiaw, who today (Saturday) played 90 minutes in his side’s huge 6-1 defeat to Union Berlin. It was the last Schalke game for Malick, however, as according to Gianluca Di Marzio he will already be in Milano tomorrow.

Di Marzio reports that the player will cost Milan €5-6m and he arrives on a permanent transfer. The medical check-ups of Thiaw will take place on Monday and he’ll then sign the contract.

Wow! Who’d have thought we’d ever be able to do a transfer under the radar?

Ok

Ted

Hope he’s here to take Romagnoli’s spot and Gabbia won’t be sent on loan. Would be foolish to ditch a player who’s fully integrated just to replace him with someone unfamiliar with environment and in last days of mercato.

N’Dicka was such a good option for twice the fee. And midfield spot is still in a weird condition, we missed out of Fernandes while we chased Sanches and look at him now in Benfica, Camara was bought by Monaco for just 15M, Torriera to Galatasaray for just 6M. And we have not been even linked with Sangare. 5M and 20M obligation is all we need, that guy is super solid, really similar to Kessie, a perfect sub but we aren’t going for him either. All we needed was extra 20M, which is crazy since we are in UCL and… Read more »

I agree with you. Should not have waited for Sanches for so long. It was practically the CDK issue in reverse – here we were Leeds, and PSG was Milan.

It may be a strange idea, but I think Thiaw can actually act as a DM destroyer if it needs be. He seems to even have better ranges of passes (admitted from the highlights only) than Kessie.
Plus his height will be great for defending the pesky corners.

What do we make out of this guy vs Gabbia? Is he that much more experienced or better?
Seems to me he’s an investment, not necessarily an upgrade to Gabbia. But I could be wrong

Kessie has not started a single match for Barca and a lot of md in that squad sometimes it’s good to stay where you are celebrated

AC Milan

Some people just prefers $$$ than glory. Nothing we can do about it.

Its a surprising move for him. Gavi and Pedri are the future of Barca so that leaves 1 spot at DM
Busquets and de Jong both play there, so will be tough to get in the team. Also tiki taka is not really his style.

I wish he had stayed at Milan. In time I think he will wish the same.

Barca are just happy to pick up players for free. Good business by them. They can always sell him for profit next summer

I see Onyedika is joining Brugges for 9m!
How annoying to be outbid by a Belgian club. The club you just gave a pile of money too.
He looks a serious talent!
