Tommaso Pobega spoke to MilanTV after renewing his contract.
Yesterday it became official that Pobega extended his contract with Milan until 2027, and it’s further confirmation that the club trusts young Tommaso.
“I am feeling a lot of emotions right now: the desire to do well, desire to train and play,” 23-year-old Pobega told MilanTV right after signing the renewal on Friday. “Many years have passed since I first arrived, I’ve used each year to grow and improve and now I want to do well here.”
On last season: “I did the full pre-season last year, was on the bench for the first match, but I needed some more time away to grow. I was lucky to be in a great environment at Torino, with a good Coach who trusted me and now I’m back after a year in which I proved myself.”
On the national team: “It’s always a pleasure and honor to be called up to the national team, I always do my best when there. My debut against Germany was a great moment, it’s difficult to describe, but it was an incredibly thrilling moment because the national team is always special. I have objectives I’m hoping to achieve with the Azzurri, too.”
On Tonali: “I have a nice rapport with Tonali, we train together every day and have known each other since last year. It’s a pleasure to play with him.”
On the group: “The group made a very positive impression on me because there’s a desire to work and train, a desire to do things the right way and do them well. They’ve grown a lot since last year, in part because they’ve gained more awareness everyone has added to their technical baggage.”
On his teammates: “One person I was very curious to see last year and I’ve met this year is Maignan. I was very impressed with him when he arrived, not just because of his technical ability but his charisma and presence in the dressing room. Now that I’m back, I’ve been able to see it.”
On Pioli: “Last year, before I left on loan, I had spoken to the Coach about it. He told me it could be the right decision because I was going to a team with which I could grow. He also told me to work hard so I could return. I’m sure that if I listen to him and follow his advice, then I can grow a lot more because he’s proven to be a great Coach. I have a lot to learn.”
On his objectives: “My objective, very year, is to grow. Every year you can improve in all aspects, so that’s fundamental. Obviously we want to achieve great things and grow as a group, and within the group, every individual has their own objectives. Mine are clear to me, but due to superstition I don’t want to announce them [smiles], I’ll keep them to myself and work to achieve them.
