Pierre Kalulu has spoken to MilanTV, sounding optimistic for the new season.

Milan are in a training camp in Austria right now and tomorrow they play Wolfsberger AC for a friendly.

Today, the Rossoneri defender Pierre Kalulu sat down for an interview with MilanTV to speak ahead of the new season. With the Diavolo struggling to get a new center-back on board, it’s likely that Kalulu will continue to play as a starter, getting the credit following his incredible growth last year.

“My development? It was fast for you but it was too slow for my liking, because I expect a lot of myself. My lookout is that, when you’re young, you have to do everything to be here. You can’t afford to be stressed. Let your football do the talking.”

On the new season: “We’re preparing well for the new season. Things aren’t quite perfect yet but we just need to be ready for August 13. We always want to do more. We might have won the league but this will be an even more important season for us because we’re a young team, but have a lot of quality players. We know that it’s even harder to win in Serie A with the other teams getting stronger. We also want to have a good Champions League run. On an individual level, I want to improve all aspects of my game: technically, mentally and be stronger on the pitch.”

On the many matches and on the World Cup: “I’m optimistic for this season. It will be great for the players but we’ll be tired by the end because we have a lot of games, but it could be fun for the fans, because we’re back to the league after the World Cup, which is in November. All of the players are looking better and looking stronger for this upcoming season.”

On Adli: “It’s easier when you can communicate easily with your teammates, when you have those similarities, because the culture is a bit different. Then it’s up to him [Adli] to make his mark but he’s started really well.”

On the awareness: “We have a lot of belief in ourselves right now. We can communicate well out on the pitch, which makes it easier to function well as a unit.”
