Olivier Giroud was happy with his brace and commented about Yacine Adli.
Giroud scored wonderful two goals at RheinEnergieStadion on Saturday as Milan beat 1. FC Köln 2-1 in the first friendly of pre-season to win the 2022 Telekom Cup.
The Rossoneri are preparing for the first Serie A game of the season on August 13, and it seems that Oli G is planning to continue where he left things off last year.
“It’s always good to start with a goal. We did very well in the first half, and the youngsters finished off the work well. I’m really happy as it’s always a good thing to win the first game, although it’s just a friendly,” the 35-year-old told MilanTV.
On his goal celebration: “I think the Scudetto looks beautiful on this Red and Black shirt; I wanted to send our fans a message that we are really proud to be the Champions of Italy.”
On the work at Milanello: “We are doing a good job at Milanello, we are working hard, there are some heavy sessions and this heat makes it difficult but we did well today showing team spirit, playing with determination and one for the other. Together we did what the Coach asked us to do. We’re almost ready, not 100 per cent but I feel fine and the guys too.”
On Adli: “He always calls me, like a kid [laughs]… I think it’s important to do the right things to give him a warm welcome. He’s a good guy, he knows he has a lot to learn here, but I was really impressed with his skills: his assists, his pace and vision too and he’s a good addition to the team. He needs to tame his temper, sometimes [smiles], during the last play of the game, but, yes, he’s a good guy and I’m happy for him that he can be here at the great Milan.”
