Davide Calabria never had any doubts Milan can and will win the Scudetto as he hopes to inspire the next generation.

Last night was another huge evening in the rich history of Milan, as they won their 19th Scudetto, beating Sassuolo 3-0 away.

“It’s a great feeling, we’ve worked so, so hard. There’s not a lot to say; we will celebrate this, we’re a great group and we deserve it. I’m so proud of this team,” Calabria told MilanTV yesterday.

On the path: “We never doubted that this game would go any other way, we were really confident about what we could do but we have believed in ourselves since the start. We’re reaping the rewards for all of our hard work and we deserve it.

On if the guys mess around in the locker room: “It’s only right; it’s an amazing feeling, we’ve been on a great journey and it’s been a crazy season and I’m so happy for this team.”

On the key junction of the season: “We’ve believed in ourselves since the very beginning, there wasn’t really a key moment, when we took a misstep and lost faith or even times when we had more belief, we’ve always believed in ourselves since pre-season. [Pioli shows up behind Davide during the interview] It’s also due to the Coach [smiles]! We believe and have believed in ourselves until now so it’s only right that we’re coming home with this [shows his medal].”

Davide, who is a product of the Diavolo Youth Sector, also spoke to DAZN: “There is everything in my heart, we have made sacrifices, the last few years have been difficult, but we’ve reaped the rewards of our work.”

On interpreting the fullback role: “I am not limited to playing on the flank. The coach has allowed Theo and me to be free. We have a tricky playing style for opponents. I used to play as a central midfielder, so I am accustomed to playing in the middle of the pitch.”

On the group: “This is a fantastic group. We’ve done everything we could, maybe even more. It’s a reward for what we’ve done. I am proud of this team.”

On the team’s best player: “The group has been crucial. You don’t win without a group. Leão has improved a lot. He is a different player. He must continue like this.”

In an interview with Sportmediaset, the 25-year-old said: “The medal is a source of pride. I am happy with what we have done and this is an award we deserved. I saw how hard we all worked this year and the only way to feel fulfilled was to win. This is the beginning of a new path because we become more confident for the future but it is also a reward for what we’ve been through in these months and years.

“From the first day of the get-together last year we believed in this Scudetto and we knew we could make it hard for other teams. Then the more you go on, the more you understand that it can become concrete. We believed in it more than others probably because even in difficult moments we knew we could bring home a positive result. This is a young team with some more experienced players to guide us. The mentality of the team made the difference, it was fundamental.

“If winning the Scudetto as a Captain worth double? Absolutely yes, it’s fantastic for someone like me who grew up in the Youth Sector and a fan since childhood. I hope to be a source of inspiration to the guys who are watching us because they can do it too.”
