Simon Kjær has gone under the knife today and he will be back next season.

Just earlier this week, Kjær learned that his finished 18th in the 2021 Ballon d’Or ranking, getting much-deserved recognition for his best year ever.

However, today, the Dane was under the knife, undergoing surgery following the injury he picked up in the 3rd minute of Wednesday’s Genoa-Milan game.

“Milan confirms that Simon Kjær underwent arthroscopic surgery today to reconstruct the anterior cruciate ligament and reinsert the medial collateral ligament in his left knee,” a statement on the website of the Rossoneri reads on Friday evening.

“The operation, which was carried out at the Casa di Cura La Madonnina clinic, was a perfect success, with Dr. Roberto Pozzoni performing it with the help of the CTS (Centro di Traumatologia dello Sport – Sports Traumatology Centre) team from the Galeazzi Orthopaedic Institute in the presence of Club doctor Stefano Mazzoni.

“Kjær is doing well and is eager to begin the rehabilitation process immediately. He’s expected to be out for six months.”

Forza Simon!

like i said before fiorentina match, old players like ibra or kjaer shouldnt keep on playing for 90 mins. oh well, get well soon kjaer and stay fit ibra

It does not matter if he is “old” (he is only 32) it can happen to any player who gives 100% of himself during a match. This scenario was expected in such tight matches, so we need at least one other quality central defender for rotation. For now, Tomori-Romagnoli will be enough to win the remaining matches until the half-season, but then it is obligatory to buy or loan a proven player in Serie A

“It does not matter if he is “old” (he is only 32) it can happen to any player who gives 100% of himself during a match.” it certainly DOES because recovery time is longer for older player. even baresi himself admitted it. its simple physiology. “This scenario was expected in such tight matches, so we need at least one other quality central defender for rotation.” thats exactly my point; kjaer, ibra and giroud shouldnt play 90 mins games back to back. “For now, Tomori-Romagnoli will be enough to win the remaining matches until the half-season” they themselves just recovered from… Read more »

I’m a lawyer, do not mess with me 🙂 My brother, what you say does not depend so much on the years, I do not know if you remember, but Milan ruled Europe with an average age of the team of 33 years (Maldini, Costacurta, Nesta, Cafu, Rui Costa, Inzaghi, Vieri … …..) so they were all old but we had a big roster to rotate. Kjaer will be great next season but not to play every game every three days and even if he is 24 years old. Gabbia is not a rotation player he is backup player and… Read more »

“I’m a lawyer, do not mess with me ” sue me mate *wink maldini and cafu were everlasting but rui costa, let alone billy barely played during ance’s golden years 2004 – 2007, and nesta was in his prime. that team was full of world class players like nesta, kaka and sheva in their prime. many, including ibra and baresi admitted in their respective intviews that their bodies cant cope with physicality of the game as the grow older. hell, even platini said thats what made them quit. matches vs genoa or vs salernitana are perfect for playing (young) back… Read more »

Back at the day football was not so fast paced. It was much more static game overall. I agree that Kear is not that old but he is definitely at declining stage. Ac milan is playing exstreamly fast paced football and even our youngster are having pro blems or players who supposed to be in their peak .

What a shame! It looked really bad already during the match. I’m afraid it will be very difficult, practically impossible, for King Kajaer to return to his previous levels. At his age, such an injury is very hard to come back from. But we can always hope.

What a champion, what a man. Get well soon.
