Official: Florenzi underwent surgery to correct a partial tear to the medial meniscus, out for at least 30 days

Alessandro Florenzi underwent surgery on Friday and he’ll be out for a month.

Florenzi joined Milan from Roma on loan with option to buy, and Stefano Pioli has been using the player regularly, usually bringing him off the bench.

However, Pioli will have to do without the veteran Italian for the next few months, as Alessandro suffered an injury that required surgery, as announced by the Rossoneri:

“Milan can confirm that Alessandro Florenzi underwent surgery today, with the operation being performed by Professor Pier Paolo Mariani in the presence of Club doctor Lucio Genesio at the Villa Stuart Clinic in Rome. The arthroscopic operation, which was carried out to correct a partial tear to the medial meniscus in his left knee, went perfectly to plan.

“The estimated recovery time is 30 days.” Florenzi is out, but in the meantime today Junior Messias trained with the rest of the squad and could be called up for Sunday’s Atalanta match.

I dont understand why was Florenzi brought in the first place. If they wanted a RW who is more like a Wing Back, then why not just give Conti a chance on the RW ? Back in Atlanta Conti was known for his attacking skills and contribution to goals any way. Defence was never his thing.

Conti was good at Atalanta but now a total flop! Florenzi was impressive for the few minutes he played against Athletico, he even almost had a goal to his name. Nobody should blame any member of our team including Kessie and Pioli. We were just unlucky with the horrible refereeing decisions. Kessie’s second card should have at most been a warning but well… I am still very proud of this team and I am very optimistic. My only concern so far is this constant injury woes

He was not a necessary signing with all the options we have at RB. Hes not the RW we needed.
Now he is another example of what happens when you are overly reliant on old and injury prone players

For a team that plays almost every 3 days, having 3 Right backs is not much. We needed Florenzi because of his versatility and experience. It would have been stupid if Maldini and Masara granted all our wishes by signing players in the various positions we needed. During summer transfers wise teams sign players who are more versatile and capable enough to double up in other positions. That is why we didn’t spend much in the CF position cos we had Rebic and Leao who can sub for Ibra, Giroud, and Pellegri. We spent little signing Messias cos we had… Read more »

We have 4 Right Backs now. I literatly started this conversation about Conti who can cover what Florenzi does, that was the whole point. There was no need to bring Florenzi at all. I dont agree with your comment on Rebic and Leao either, they are not really CF’s and if they are played as CF who will then play on the LW ? You can put players in any position but it dosent mean that they can actualy play that position.

Speedy recovery Florenzi. Also to Ibra, Krunic and Bakayoko who all won’t be available until after the international break. Hopefully, no player will return from their involvement with their national teams with injuries.

Thankfully, Messias has started training with everyone. Hope we get to see him against Atalanta. A victory at Bergamo before the break.

Forza Milan !

i dont get it; are the uninitiated that stupid or just trolling? florenzi came because dalot loan deal were too expensive. anyone who has an ounce of football knowledge knows dalot is rb not rw so florenzi must be brought in to be rb. messias (and faivre) is reserve for rw not florenzi. conti (and castipendejo) was about to get offloaded last mercato (but the deals never went through) so its only right and logical that maldini wanted reliable back up for calabria. yes florenzi’s a bit old but he’s euro cup winner. even inter depends on darmian as well.… Read more »

Anyone who knows this team understands that we have
Calabria 1st choice
Kalulu 2nd
Conti 3rd
Saladman (proven wingback)
Tomori played RB
Gabbia played RB

So your logic makes no sense.

A RW was and is needed
Faivre not at the club!!!!!!!
Samu not in CL squad!!!!!
Messias left footed who mostly plays Am

Florenzi has had years of injury problems

So u will entrust our RB position in the hands of Conti in the absence of Calabria and Kalulu? Samu has played more in the RW position than RB so why pull a Morinho stunt by taking him back to a position he seem to have moved on from? Florenzi was a good buy and an average cover for Aexis take or leave it! Both Roma and Kjaer are old which is why Gabbia is on standby for either of them. As u already know, Tomori is a starter in the CD and as such can’t even be considered for… Read more »

2 RB is plenty for any team.
Not sure what your saying about samu.
Saladman has played most his career as a right back. So he is an alternative if stuck. As is conti, after calabria and Kalulu.
Roma is not old btw

In short, we have lots of options in defense and midfield. Attack is a problem.
Am and RW in particular. Therefore Florenzi was a pointless signing, especially now he is injured again!

anyone who actually watches milan knows pioli doesnt really trust young players. thats why hauge and pobega arent with milan this season. thats why dalot and florenzi play(ed) more than kalulu. not even clearly talented leao and brahim could cement their places in starting lineup last season

thats because of the transfer policy imposed by eldiott, entrusted to triple m. that still doesnt alter the fact that pioli prefers to play experienced players like kjaer, calabria, kessie, rebic, hakan and ibra rather than gabbia, kalulu, pobega, hauge leao, brahim and colombo. FACHT. hell, it took bright young gems like tonali, leao and brahim a year to make it to milan’s starting line up

which is EXACTLY why experienced players like florenzi are essential; because young talents cant be introduced too hastily. they need guidance. sucks to be hauge though

so u werent a football fan yet during that period of legendary FACHT rants by rafa benitez and his verbal wars vs saf? milanista121 got that reference right away when i first said it in this blog long time ago but u dont in 2021. no wonder u have very limited football knowledge. who’s ur fav milan player anyway? honda?

Conti and saladman are fine for 3rd and 4th choice options.

I knew youd bring up robben. ThThe difference is Messias is completely 1 footed. Understand?

Yes Florenzi has been plagued by injuries recently. Hes not that old at 30. But roma and psg moved him on because hes not sound.

Dalot is not in this team so he cant be the second RB. Florenzi is not Dalot as well so that comparison makes even less sense. As for Kalulu he is better RB than Florenzi. Also Kalulu has improved since a year ago. We didnt got Faivre for 2mil only. That 1mil from Florenzi could have been added there.

The whole point Rossi and I have tried to get through your thick skull, is that without signing the wrong players and wasting precious resources we could have afforded a decent right wing.

Conti sell
Krunic sell
Samu sell
Dont sign Pellegri or Florenzi
Dont spend 8m on Messias
Dont spend 10 million on a guy who is in France

That leaves a Very good budget for a RW

Again you are just ignoring parts that dont suit you. Pioli plays players who are young as well, as i gave you examples above. So he dosent just chose starters by age. Florenzi can play anything on the right side same as Conti, in Milan he is a RW since we are covered in the RB department. Florenzi is same type of player as Conti just that we had to spend cash to get him while we already had Conti for free. Those resurses could have been spent on a proper RW. Very Simple.
