No central midfielders on the bench. Should’ve had Krunic coming in for one of the starters in the second half. Or just any two of Tonali, Krunic, Pobega starting with one coming off the bench. Not all starting together. Also it’s a lil scary thinking Poli might want to use Krunic more as a winger.

That is why it is a pre-season match. You can lose all the pre-season match and still go ahead to carry the league you know? This is the right time for all the experiments, so let Pioli have his fun

First half not good. No forward passing and the only time we’d manage to comfortably keep possession is when defenders passing to each other. Pobega and Tonali hiding away from receiving a pass from defenders. Our forwards not having the ball enough as a result. Overall, lack of intensity.

First Half: nothing new from Pioli strategy, same old milan, Diaz is not player milan need (he tried too much and failed every time, doesn’t offer much), Leao is Leao we know from last 2 seasons, Krunic is Pioli’s crush.

Hope second half is better. I am expecting Pioli come up with a new strategy. At least try something new. It is the right time to do it.

Players that were brilliant: Maignan, Tomori, Romagnoli, Ballo-Toure and Giroud. These players were impressive. Didn’t even put a foot wrong.

Players that were good: Caldara, Gabbia, Calabria, Tata, and Daniel Maldini. Castellijo was decent.

Players that were Horrible: Leao, Pobega, Tonali, Krunic, Saelemaekers, Diaz and Conti.

Milan should definitely sell Leao and Pobega. We should keep Caldara for next season. I don’t even know why Krunic is not on the transfer market.

Well, I have to react based on your observations since I didn’t see the game. Apparently, the midfielders were terrible. While I won’t crucify them in a hurry, I think Pioli should have played a mid 3 with Tonali as deep-lying playmaker flanked by Pobega and Krunic. I think that’s what Pioli should have done since Kessie and Bennacer are not available. He should be able to play a different formation. It’s still preseason and if he doesn’t figure something out now, the team will have problems when key players are not available. Pioli has to learn to play players… Read more »

Yeah. I’m concerned about our midfield replacement for Kessie and Bennacer. I don’t think Pobega and Tonali will cut it unless Pioli uses a 3 man midfield like a 4321 or 4312.

Tonali and Pobega are not good in a 2 man midfield. We definitely need a midfielder like Renato Sanchez and or Bakayoko.

I would love both Renato Sanchez and Bakayoko to arrive this mercato. Sell Pobega and loan out Tonali.

How was Leao horrible. I saw him have the ball at feet around the penalty area maybe just 4 times and he wasn’t exactly wasteful on those occasions. It’s not his fault if he couldn’t be fed. Besides he’s not a natural center forward, as you could see he looks more comfortable out wide bursting into the box.

Leao is lazy and he doesn’t work hard enough for the team. His attitude and lack of effort is not good enough for Milan. He should be sold this summer. He is not a winger or striker. He’s better as a 2nd striker and since Pioli doesn’t play with 2 strikers Leao should be sold.

Bad attitude, lack of effort and he is out of his natural position.

You are talking of your general opinion of him and not solely based on this match. I understand. I just think he wasn’t horrible tonight if anything. And my general opinion of him is that he’s good enough to do well with us especially in the future. I don’t mind much about his lazy body language as long as he can still effectively contribute, as he’s some good moments with us with the same lazy body language. About his role, it’s only a plus that he can play multiple positions, but with the current formation he can be effective for… Read more »

Actually i don’t care about the result. However i want to see what idea Pioli has for new season. I didn’t see any new idea or any improvement of play.
Milan played exactly like last season. That made me worry. Pioli had no gut to change the formation. Leao was never impressed as CF, he tried him a lot last season during Ibra’s absence. Why not try something new. Friendly is the right time to do it, the right time to learn and improve

There’s a report, probably just a rumour but worrying and quite possible as well, that Milan might remove 50% discount agreement on Pessina in order to land Iličić from Atalanta.

First getting rid of Hauge, who’s statistics compared to game time was far from awful, and now letting go of Pessina? For what? Awfully inconsistent, injury prone, snail paced and average at most Iličić?

All the wrong moves!

Ilicic has allwayes been an average player, he only looked good in Atalanta. But in Gasperini Atalanta a lot of average players look good. Then wehn they leave they look teribble again. Gasperini knows how to exploit players strenghts and cover their weaknesses in his system. But now 33y old Ilicic is not even good for Gasperini’s system, so he will definitly not add anything to Milan’s. He is also a SS, we should invest a bit and try to get something that will really impruve this teams attack.

In case you don’t know, Milan will lose the 50% resale commission/discount on Pessina once he plays a 100 games for Atalanta. He is already at 59 games. All Milan will get afterwards is 3 million, according to report.

Injury proned? It can be worse than Ibra’s injury problems. By the way, Ilicic offers way more than fully fit Castillejo, Brahim Diaz and Krunic.

One pertinent question: Suppose Milan somehow fails to land a CAM before the mercato shuts, what will happen? The problem I see with Pioli is his inability to adapt and play the individual players to their strengths. He favours his formation and sacrifices the skills or talent of the players. The 4-2-3-1 is already tested. Now, this is preseason and some players are not available. Why don’t you find out their strengths and see how a change of formation can give an alternative and surprise element. Instead, it is about finding the vice for Kessie, vice for Ibra, vice-this, vice-that.… Read more »

What is the consequences of getting lost in friendly matches while experimenting something new? Nothing!! You will not get fired, but you can learn from it , try to improve, use the experience to prepare the team for the real competition. That is what friendly matches are for. Bad pre-season doesn’t tell how your team will perform in real competition. Last season Pioli didn’t have the answer when his main tactics didn’t work or when missing key players. He tried Meite as CAM(failed), Leao as CF (failed) and pioli kept trying Leao as CF in friendly this season, newly against… Read more »

Actually Milan offered 3m to Santos which they rejected and had a verbal agreement with Kaio. But Juventus got Kaio to sign a pre-contract with them and come free in January. Santos realising that they were basically going to lose the player for free negotiated 1.5m now another 1.5m in a year’s time, with loan option back to Santos.

So it looks like Kaio really only wanted Juventus
