Fodé Ballo-Touré spoke to MilanTV after officially joining the Rossoneri this week.

Ballo-Touré signed a 4-year contract with Milan, arriving from Monaco for €4.2m to be the deputy for Theo Hernández.

The 24-year-old sat down with an interview with MilanTV to discuss his summer move: “At first I didn’t even believe it. For me, it is just incredible. When I heard that it was true I still couldn’t believe it until I got to Milan. It is so exciting, I am really happy. It is a dream come true for me.”

On Theo Hernández: “He is a really strong full-back who has grown so much since the start of his career. I think he’s one of Milan’s key players, why not follow in his footsteps?”

On Maignan: “I played with Mike Maignan before, we came through together at PSG and then played together at Lille. Mike to me is like, a brother from another mother! He has amazing mental strength. He is so determined for what he wants; mentally he is very strong. He gets what he wants.”

On representing Senegal: “My mother is Senegalese. I played for the French youth teams, but then the Senegal coach called me. I saw it as a big chance and we got on well. I wanted to honor my mother who was born in Senegal, so I chose Senegal.”

On Monaco: “My first year at Monaco was a really positive one. The second? Less so, but even still I learned a lot. I learned what to do to grow and improve and now I know exactly what I still have to work on.”

On playing in the Champions League: “Yes, I’ve never played in it. With Lille we finished second, then I went to Monaco who hadn’t qualified. The UEFA Youth League isn’t a senior tournament, it’s for young players. It is similar, but not at the same level.  The Champions League is incredible so I hope to play in it soon to showcase my level and go as far as possible with Milan.”

On Italy in the EUROs: “I was watching Italy, they’re a top team. They surprised me: people say Italy play defensively but they played great football, exciting in attack. They deserved to win it. I supported them in the final.”

On his characteristics: “How to describe me… I play aggressively, I’m quick, focused, and mentally strong. I’m a good person! I’d like to tell the fans that I’ll give 200% for the shirt. It won’t always be easy but I hope they support me. Football has ups and downs, I hope they help me in tough moments. I’ll give everything to succeed and make them happy.”

On the Milan fans: “Hi! Let’s all hope for a great season. Forza Milan!”
