Olivier Giroud is a name Milan are strongly considering to strengthen the attack and a meeting to advance negotiations should happen soon.
Mario Mandžukić left Milan after six disappointing months and the Rossoneri are on the market for a striker that can alternate with Zlatan Ibrahimović in the 2021/22 season, in which the club will compete in the Champions League.
In the last weeks, Milan have been linked with a move for Olivier Giroud, the 34-year-old striker of Chelsea, who is set to become a free agent next month.
Now that the Champions League final is behind him and another important trophy has been added to his cabinet as Chelsea beat Manchester City 1-0 in the final at the Dragão, Giroud is set to start thinking about his next club and Milan is a prime contender to pick him up in the summer.
As reported by Sky Italia on their website today, a meeting is scheduled for this week between Milan and the representatives of Giroud to start negotiations in a formal way. According to Pietro Balzano Prota, the Frenchman wants a two-year contract and Milan seem willing to give him what he asks for. Vincenzo Morabito, a member of Giroud’s entourage, told Calciomercato Show today that “the Rossoneri are certainly interested, but there’s still no agreement.”
The reports in the media are that in addition to Giroud, Milan would also be looking to add a younger profile to the center of the attack. The next days should be very interesting.
