Cant believe we tied this game! We didnt deserve the win. However. I absolutely hate teams that play the park the bus style of football. And the announcers yet again, talking crap about Milan. We better wake up before this weekend.

Gems

That was a fukin pathetic performance from Milan mate , don’t fukin kid yourself .
I could see after 15 mins we weren’t going to score

Lando

Mr pioli is a good coach, but not a good tactician.
He relies too much on certain players instead of strategy

ZionTrain

Totally agree. The team looked toothless.

Roberto Giano

Pioli out

Nesta1

Need to freshen things up change of formation? Juve and atalanta gonna pass us if we don’t do something

ZionTrain

Diaz was pure garbage today. Same for Leao and Castellijo.

Maybe it’s time to use Hauge as AM backup for Calhanoglu.

Diaz has no end product. Didn’t even create 1 chance and should have been subbed at half time like Castellijo.

Good clearance and game from Romagnoli. Maybe benching him will make him step his game up.

Nino

There’s only one AM in the squad and that’s Çalhanoglu. As long as Pioli keeps thinking either Krunic or Diaz – or even Leāo – is a #10 or capable of playmaking at the required level, it’s game over. Pioli is an average coach and I guess that’s why his trajectory has followed a pattern. He comes in. Stabilizes a team. Makes some progress. Then everything starts going south. If you ask me, I think his work is done. He can leave at the end of the season. When you’re missing key players, you don’t try to force the available… Read more »

ZionTrain

I agree on your comment about Pioli. But only time will tell if you are right. Let’s see at the end of the season.

All teams will drop points so I’m not too worried since we still have a lot of football left to play.

Niels8

I agree that most of the problems come from the fact that the tactics doesn’t suit most of the attacker. Frankly speaking, it was made specifically for the starters, but not for players like Diaz, Leao, or even Tonali

Roberto Giano

agree Pioli stabilize the team and reach what their should be but not beyond, not their fullest potential

AC Milan

Good to know one of the Udinese defender plays for us.

Nathan Graegin

I think it’s safe to say Milan are paying the price for not properly reinforcing the squad in June and Jan. Also we really should have gotten ragnick or someone with multiple tactical plans.

ZionTrain

Yep. It was extremely foolish of management to even believe that the current squad is good enough.

Honestly I am NOT a fan of Elliott and Gazidis. I can’t wait for Milan to have new ownership like Bernard Arnault.

Nathan Graegin

I agree, I was really hoping the rumors of Milan getting taken over were true, we need an owner that’s not afraid to pay wall cost players world class wages. Milan can still attract players but in today’s world, none of these younger players play for the love of the game, they only play for money

ZionTrain

Totally agree. What’s even more bizarre to me is that if Elliott and Gazidis wanted to go with a youth development project then after Gattuso they should have just gone for Rangnick instead of hiring Giampaolo. This team needs “quality” investment in PROVEN young players. It’s too much pressure and expectation at Milan to put unproven young players like Leao in. That’s just too much on a young player. Bayern Munich has the perfect model and balance of youth and experience. Same can be said about Man City. Also I believe that our core players are strong like Rebic, Bennacer,… Read more »

Nathan Graegin

I agree, but I think we need to sell leao to. Even rebic is very inconsistent now. I would love for Milan to go back for Saint max. Holy shit that guy has everything a successful winger needs and we let him go to new castle where his talent is wasted. Def go get ikone to. He can play rw and fw and he also has quick feet, speed etc. that solves the winger problem. We also need to use gabbia more. Him and kjaer were killing it along with kalulu. We are pretty set for cb as long as… Read more »

ZionTrain

Yeah I’m on the fence about Leao as well. He’s lazy to me and I really hate to say that but these young players should take a leaf out of CR7 book. If a good offer comes in for Leao I think Milan should take it to be honest. Not sure St Max. has speed and Ikone is providing a lot of assists and he’s scoring goals. That’s the profile we need on the wings. They provide good defensive coverage as well. This is why I’m not sold on Thauvin. If Milan stay with a back 4 then we must… Read more »

I knew how leao was gonna be from the first few games he played with us. Like I said, I’m a striker by trade and a winger, and leao simply doesn’t have a footballers brain or drive. Like you said, cr7, is honestly the mode player the young players need to take after. And I don’t like Ronaldo, but he’s the hardest working player I’ve seen. As for saint max, bro go watch his next game, he’s ridiculously fast and skillful. Ikone is an absolute must have in my book. Hakan also needs to go, like you said too inconsistent… Read more »

well well, 1 win in last 6 matches. the decline is real. and if signore john malkovich still maintain his genius tactics + strategy and subs until the end of the season and nazidis keeps being stingy selling star players left and right and doing loan with opt deals, next thing u know milan’ll go down faster than thai hooker on a new year party. first, matches vs inter and vs udinese prove that milan just cant break down defense that sit deep and implement counterattacking strategy. like i said recently, speed means jack shit when u face teams like… Read more »

This is a game where Thauvin would have thrived. Instead of grabbing him in the last window we are waiting to get him on a Bosman transfer. Its a joke. Gazidis needs to go. We need to pay Donna and get that done now.

Milan10

i didnt know much about thauvin before i read about the news claiming milan’re after him but i’ve been keeping tabs and watching him since then. the truth is, he doesnt impress me. he plays like castipendejo; lots of cutting and inside and crosss or shoot whenever he has the ball and poaching whenever marseille attack from left side. and lately he’s getting worse and i dont see him as starter for marseille anymore. do milan really need marseille reserve player? no, i said 4 yrs ago and i say it now: get draxler. this guy is good enough to… Read more »

Nathan Graegin

I agree and also said we should get draxler, psg rarely play him and he’s just waisting away on that team. Also, look at ikone, man I think he’s much much much better than thauvin in my opinion. I think depay won’t be coming to Milan even though he would be very good for us.

Milan10

correctamundo mate. its about damn time milan sign experienced but not yet old players for a chance. dinosaurs like mandzukic, ibra and kjaer cant even play 10 straight games without getting injured and the cheap young players just aint cutting it yet.
ikone is fast but im not sure if lille are willing to sell, and if even they do, they like to put on expensive price tag on their players

Philldadon1899

I wanted Draxler as well. I am still amazed we didnt get him. Thauvin seems to be out anyways as we arent following his closely. I want to make a run at James Rodriguez. He would be a cheaper option and I think is built to play in serie a. Jeeze i would have signed Hamsik as a cheap option to backup Hakan.

Milan10

correctamente mate. i read that draxler will be out of contract soon so its high time milan finally get him.
i also read that james doesnt really like playing in epl but im not sure ance is willing to let him go though. he would be terrific at milan for sure

Ink

Hauge should shave played.
His 1v1 and dribbling was needed to break down the stubborn defence of Udine.
Ah well.
I dreamt last night that Inter lost of Parma 2-0.
So maybe it will not be that bad.
But Hauge deffo needs to start the next match because Diaz and others are not cutting through the defence.

Gems

We can’t blame the other teams tactics We just aren’t good enough to beat udinese When we are in a title race. don’t change the winning team from Roma match except for 2 forced changes through injury of ibra & hakan 5 changes is to many changes from a winning team, Get some continuity & confidence going again fuck rotation policy to rest players Play your best team now until someone gets injured. Saladmaker & Calabria should have started down the right side . Rebic would be better cf than Leao , use Leao’ speed down the left wing and… Read more »

Ink

Of course.
But, we are not in a title race. We are in a top 4 race.

Riccardo Montolivo

You sound like me when Rino was around… During the last two months, Milan has been in a race to see how can they flop harder

Nino

This is a copy & paste approach, which is basically what Pioli did. First, the argument about not changing a winning team does not work, because you have to rotate players when you have so many fixtures in quick succession and key players missing. What Pioli needed to do was to play the team to its strength. Every player is different. They have different characteristics. There’s no one like Ibra, Çalhanoglu, Bennacer in the team. When they are missing, you cannot bring in Diaz for Çalhanoglu and expect him to dictate play. Diaz does not have the vision. He does… Read more »

Nathan Graegin

I agree, I keep saying that he needs to be told to dribble past his opponent and go for goal. He needs to gain confidence because the other players in his position do what wingers should do, dribble, cross and shoot. Passing backwards gains nothing

Milanfan4ever

Honestly i wish i can pick on someone for this loss. But beside frank the tank there who is always good, everyone wasbelow par. Pioli ad usual with no plan b, or plan a for that matter. And management that didnt enforce the team better ( not asking to spend 100mil) but smart additions in proper departments. Keeping fingerd crossed for cl next season.

Ted

Last night I focused a lot on certain players like Tonali, Diaz, Leao, Rebić and their movement. Especially Tonali when he started from deep center role, a regista and Diaz who played from either side of midfield as mezzala to center front.

My opinion would be to try 352 with Tomori(rcd), Kjaer(cd), Roma(lcd); Calabria(rm), Kessie(b2b), Tonali(regista) Diaz(mezzala), Theo(lm); Leao(ss), Rebić(cf)

Rossi

Rebic is not a CF, we literatly droped points with Parma/Genova cause Pioli was forcing him to play as a CF. Without him on the wing we dont have creativity, even yesterday with Udinese you can see that the few chances that we had came from Rebic, even the penalty came after his cross. As for Leao he has been poor lately in every position. It seems that he strugles if he dosent have Zlatan in front of him. His chemistry with the rest of the team is poor.

ZionTrain

Leao is struggling without Calhanoglu. It is really Diaz that is the problem. Leao has a good understanding playing CF with Calhanoglu behind him. Diaz tend to over dribble and hold on to the ball too long trying to take on players unnecessarily. That won’t work in Serie A. Rebic should definitely stay on the LW. The only sensible option is to use Hauge as an AM since he played in that position for Bodo Glimt and he scored an amazing 25yr goal against us and setup another goal when he drifted wide to setup the 1st goal. If Bodo… Read more »

Ted

This was my suggestion cause I read somewhere that Pioli is testing Leao on the wing and Rebić up front. In my opinion, Leao is good creating chances on the wing but his work rate is nowhere comparable to Rebić’s. Ante is a real workhorse who tracks back deep, recovers the ball and has enough to create something in same breath. I do however see both of them more as SS players should Pioli revert to something like 352 next to Ibra up front

Nesta1

Ih hakan not fit I say ditch the 10 position and go 352 like u say, or 442.rebic leao strikers hauge left wing saladmaker right wing kessie tonali mids. Tonali more advanced like Keane Scholes partership. Play high line with tomori as cb so got loads of pace for counter attacks. When defending 2 banks of four which is hard to break down but still got pace with rebic leao to break fast.

ZionTrain

Yeah. I got you. Rebic as a CF is a fucking disaster. Pioli did it once and it failed miserably. If he do it again then he’s definitely going mad. 352, 3412, 442 and 433. If we stick with a back 4 then 433 is the way with Bennacer Kessie Tonali as our midfield. Calhanoglu is not playing well lately and honestly he’s way too inconsistent for us to risk building the squad around him. I say get rid of him and go back to 433 if we don’t switch to a back 3. Without Calhanoglu we can play 433… Read more »

Inter dropping points… They are playing only one competition: Serie A. Their players get enough time to rest. We can hope Inter drops points, but Conte has no excuse to. They will grind out a win each game somehow – except in few cases.

dan

Seems like we are coming back to earth. I hate to admit it, but we werent real title contenders. We are a team that should be fighting for top 4, and that’s where we are. Management always thought last year was year 0, this year was aim for top 4 and next year challenge for the title. They were blind and didnt see that this team could’ve been title contenders this year. Their rationale isnt hard to deduct. Last year was buy young players and develop them. Dont care table position This year as we are with the young guys… Read more »

If a fast-paced team corner us we lose, if they park the bus we don’ know how to unlock the match, if we don’t have possession we feel uncomfortable. Enough, Pioli needs to do something quickly or else we will lose the main objective of the season. Enough of Leao, Samu, Saelemaekers, and Hauge, they don’t have what it takes I’ve said it before, our backbone is Ben, Kessie, Ibra, Calhanoglu, Donnarumma, Rebic, and Kjaer. Tonalli is playing great but he is no Ben, and without Ben, there is no Hakan, with no Hakan there is no Rebic, you get… Read more »

Kessie, Tonali and Ben are all great and playing all three of them together with Tonali as regista, Ben as mezzala and Kessie b2b is a midfield three every top coach would love. But looking back a season or two, midfield of three haven’t worked for us. From my point of view it’s really confusing but it’s something like this – Kessie is a pillar who plays well in midfield of two but not three, Ben is good playing midfield two or three and Tonali seems to play a lot better in midfield of three and in deeper role but… Read more »

I’ll quote a phrase that Montella said when he arrived. It’s not the formation it’s the tactics. Like most of the blog has said, we have Ibra and Mandzukic, why can’t they play together? Why can’t Leao adapt and play on the right? Heck, even Rebic? We won a lot and some issues flew under the radar because we got results. I’m part of those blinded fans, Nathan and I got into a discussion about Rw and Saelemaekers, I now have to agree with him, the boy is no good, and makes no sense to keep fielding him. What’s crazy is salemakers would be good if your tryin to defend the lead bc he is a hard worker. But if we need a goal, or it’s just a 1-0 lead and we are pushing for a goal. He’s not much help. As for hakan, he’s nothing more than a back up cam. He’s not starting material for Milan. We can do much better. I’ve seen ppl say try hauge as a cam. I mean why not. His problem is that he doesn’t get himself in the game. And if cam doesn’t work, switch him to the left and… Read more »

WE NOW RETURN TO MILAN10 MUSINGS remember when i mentioned blankenburg and schilcher, 2 ajax cb, years ago? those 2 werent stars like cruyff, neeskens, krol etc. theyre avg players who barely played for their respective nt, and after that ajax side was pretty much disbanded, they ended up playing for random clubs in switzerland and france respectively. so why did avg players get to play for arguably the greatest, most influential club side ever? because, like i said, with good system, anyone can play. as a team u should play to ur strength, hence u should always try to… Read more »

This is why I just ignore all those bad-mouthing Leāo, Çalhanoglu, Meite, etc. It’s almost as if they just want to find a fall guy and put all the teams problems on him. It’s no rocket science. If the coach carefully studies his players, he will know their strengths and weaknesses, and adjust his tactics to take advantage of their strengths. Pioli is the issue.

Milan10

correctamundo mate. pioli is good caretaker to stabilize the ship but not much else. just today i read this interesting piece about solskjaer on goal.com: “Just five years ago, Solskjaer would have all the makings of an elite manager: superb motivator, excellent man-manager, good at building a solid defence, and a strong eye for picking the right line-up to suit the opposition. Sadly for him, the game has been radically altered by Conte, Klopp, and Guardiola, and the new school of elite coaches – which includes the likes of Tuchel and Mauricio Pochettino – have found a way to lessen… Read more »

Baresis Dream

Very lucky to get a draw here. Again injuries are exposing our lack of sufficient depth. The point is we have the numbers, but two of our main key players, zlatan and bennacer, can only play 1 in every 2 games this season. And the sub we had lined up for them, also get injured frequently – this is already the second injury of Mandukic and at least the third time Tonali was taken off the field due to a bump. And now Hakan and Kajaer are starting to miss more and more games. We cannot create against teams who… Read more »

Obviously it might not hold up to any truth but according to gianluca di marzios site former napoli player marek hamsik is about to join ifk gothenburg of all teams 😀 seriously he is still only 33 years old, can he really have become so bad that he will play in the swedish league. I would have loved to have seen him in milan atleast previously but still up untill he left napoli but as i doesnt really follow the chinese league im beyond surprised to see this story pop up.

13 finals, 39 points are on the table. Napoli Mar 14th Home, Lazio Apr 25th Away, Juventus May 9th Away, and Atalanta May 23rd also Away. Let’s picture the worst-case scenario, Milan can’t beat any of those teams but manages to beat all the remaining matches, Pioli would end the season with 80 points, maybe enough to qualify for the Champions League. Let’s add some context: 3rd-4th Place 2018-2019: Atalanta-Inter 69 Pts. 2019-2020: Lazio-Atalanta 78 pts. Does Pioli’s Milan has a chance to qualify, of course, however, losing points against teams like Verona is certainly worrying, especially when Juve and… Read more »

I agree with your post and 80 points should more than suffice to get a cl qualification, anything else would be shocking. In regard of scudetto i had pretty much expected that inter and juventus would usurp us at some point as we hasnt half the depth of their squads but as long as we mathematically can play for it we certainly should keep fighting for it. When that is said our bad form go many months back so we better start stepping up our game and that cant happen fast enough. I believe that while we hadnt lost for… Read more »

that is exactly why i hate when coaches or people start targeting top 4. You shoot for a top 4, you might end up 5th or 6th. Until it is is mathematically impossible, always shoot for scudetto, even if you fail, you end up in 4th.

Nathan Graegin

Yup your right on the money bro! Right on the fucking money! We are Milan and 1st place should also be the goal with other places as sub goals.

Milan10

**milan have been losing to atalanta, juve and inter by 2 goals margin or more, have been having the most injury problems in serie a, cant even win vs udinese, and were 6th last season**

rino wasnt overachiever btw, and if pioli can finish within top 4 i think its only fair that he keeps his job. then again, if i were milan mgmt i’d try to get allegri back. im not sure nazidis would be milan10ian enough to give green light though

well, finishing ABOVE underperforming inter and atalanta would’ve been legit overachieving. if rino wasnt stupid enough to magic johnson the ball to lazio player and borivaldo, genius that he was, didnt foul parma player near milan box resulting in free kick goal, both in dying minutes, milan might have very well qualified for ucl. i love rino but he cant even finish within top 4 with napoli, a much better team than his milan. regarding pioli, now he IS overachiever. like it or not, currently milan are in much better place and shape than he found it. its only fair… Read more »
