spezia players press well and the distance between milan’s defensive line and the double pivot + wingers in front of them is too great thus they can only implement long ball strategy. thats why milan keep losing the ball.
milan players need to play narrowly, not more that 50 – 60 m between ibra and kjaer – romag combo so they can implement their short one touch pass strategy that destroyed spezia in giornata 2

Some times We look so frustrating to watch. In this game I think Donnaruma has touched the ball more times than all our players combined cos we keep passing the ball back to him and inviting pressure. One mistake in this game and we’re done, we need to be very careful.

45 minutes: Spezia dominating the first half, or at the very least much better than Milan. We didn’t have the right energy coming into the game it seems, as the players seemed over confidant and not ready for a battle. Bennaser and Hakan look rusty, especially the latter, and our front three don’t seem to be in the game as well. We need to play more organized from the back, and figure out how to handle Spezia’s press (rather than all those long balls to nowhere). And in general, we need more fight and aggressiveness. Pioli needs to wake the players… Read more »

Retrospectively, letting Andre Silva go will be one of the worst mistakes Milan has made in a very long time. It would have been better to give him a bit more time and space to make the mistakes he needed to make in order to be where he is today. Having an attach of Andre Silva (CF), with Leao (LW) and Thauvin (RW) would have been a whole other level. I am not able to watch tonight’s game, but according to you comrades, the team isn’t performing very well. However, take it easy and let’s hope for a better second… Read more »

spezia clearly learned from lille, juve and atalanta on how to handle milan: high pressing game and fast paced wingplay.
milan must anticipate it by keeping the distance short between defensive and bennassie + wingers so as to not allow spezia players spaces and hit them on the counter

Milan went into this game with the wrong attitude. Pioli was so focused on getting minutes into the legs of Kjaer and Bennacer due to game against Inter despite they not being fully match fit. Tomori would have been fine against Spezia and Inter. The entire team is overconfident except Calabria. Unlike during the lockdown period they don’t press with urgency anymore. Oh please, hakan had been ass for 95% of his career in Milan. I won’t let a few good games change my mind. He’s not consistent and he lacks the skills to bring Milan into games on a consistent basis. Salemakers and samu have always produced next to nothing in Milan as well. Now that Diaz is hurt, we are stuck with a cam that’s only attributes are SOMETIMES creating a good forward pass and SOMETIMES getting the ball past the first defender on dead ball situations. Lmfao even in the games we won, hakan usually disappears. Hakans dead balls are almost always shot right at the wall. Almost all of his passes are either back passes or side passes. Again, your going by game by game instances, I’m talking about the big picture. Hakan in the big picture has been a total let down. At no point in his Milan career, including the games he got assists or even the odd goal, was he unplayable against the other team. At no point did he have command in the midfield. This is a serious wake up call, we had a weeks rest got players bk and was full strength other than rebic. We need to sort out our difficulties with high press because all teams will be doing it now. We are too lethargic and can’t keep ball. Witb only playing 2 in midfield we get overrun. Theo runs leave us exposed and midfield 2 can’t cover full width of pitch.
