Ismaël Bennacer will very soon return and is about one week away from a comeback from injury.
The Algerian midfielder has been out since the 2-2 draw against Parma on December 13 due to a muscular injury.
Isma has already missed 9 matches and he’s expected to miss 2 more before returning. However, the comeback is close.
According to Milannews.it on Friday, the expectation is to have Bennacer back for the first match of the second round of Serie A next Saturday – when the Diavolo take on Bologna away. Bennacer will therefore skip the Atalanta match and the Coppa Italia derby on Tuesday.
Sandro Tonali has taken the spot of Bennacer in the starting XI and has been growing and improving, but Bennacer, 23, remains the ideal partner for Franck Kessié in the midfield of Stefano Pioli.
