Milan reportedly consider signing Mandžukić, the veteran Croatian striker would arrive on a free transfer

Mario Mandžukić has been identified as a potential transfer target for Milan, but there are alternatives.

Milan are top of the table after 17 games of Serie A and Paolo Maldini & Frederic Massara are looking for ways to make the squad of Stefano Pioli more competitive for the second half of the season.

Zlatan Ibrahimović has missed a fair share of games so far this year due to COVID-19 and injuries, and the Rossoneri are apparently thinking of signing a player with similar characteristics to those of the Swede in order to have alternatives when Zlatan can’t play or needs to be rested.

As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky and by and others, on Tuesday Milan had a meeting with agent Giovanni Branchini, who offered the 34-year-old to the Rossoneri. The Diavolo are evaluating whether to take the player, who last played a football match on March 7, 2020.

Mandžukić is currently a free agent after finishing his adventure with Al-Duhail in Qatar. Milan are thinking of the player’s physical condition and about what kind of impact he’d have in the dressing room and are expected to take a decision in the next days. If he arrives, it would be on a six-month loan and on a salary lower than 2 million – according to Sportmediaset’s Claudio Raimondi.

The alternative to Mario at the moment appears to be Leonardo Pavoletti of Cagliari – Milan’s next opponents. It’s of course also possible that the Rossoneri will not sign another striker at all.

If Mandžukić arrives and does well, Milan will probably keep him and not renew Ibra’s contract at the end of the season. Ibra has a high salary by Milan’s present standard. So, I believe they will try to make Ibra take less – putting his age too into consideration.

The believe will be that the team has grown considerably to function well without Ibra.

This might be a shrewd move. but I wish Milan will get a quality RW to complement the attack, because Samu and Salad-maker ain’t good enough, if Thauvin arrives, it will increase Milan’s chance of winning trophies this season.

There are rumors that we are linked to Felipe Anderson. It will be great if we can get him. He can play RW, LW and AM.

Sale did a decend job and his value has skyrocked based on transfermarkt. He is still young but he is getting there and also is beeing called for Belgium NT. Also i would really like we get Thauvin.

I hope Mandzukic comes and proves to juventus what a mistake they have made not to keep him just like pirlo did. I dont think ibra will play football anywhere past this summer. I also think Ibra helps our team even when he doesnt play, in training, locker room and even giving some tips here and there from his vast experience. So i dont think its fair to say we wouldnt need him anymore or that wheb he doesnt play there is no ibra in our team. I think beeing a leader and nobody can deny he isnt helped us… Read more »

You don’t understand football if you can think such a terrible possibility. No one at Milan can’t imagine that Ibra won’t go on next season ! Milan is first now and has this mentality because Ibra is in the team.

I doubt that very much. I don’t believe that at all. Ibrahimovic is not just a very important piece of the puzzle on the pitch but he is even more important off the pitch. In the dressing room when you train with ibra or play with him the team feel like they can challenge anyone. The management know this they are not dumb. Don’t be surprised if ibra becomes a milan manager 1 day

Well come to ac milan mandzukic this is the guy we needed not that lazy talkative asshole arrogant ibrahimovic if they sign manzukic we will beat every team in serie a

U are very stupid to talk about Ibrahimovic

What a loose talk! I don’t think you know anything about football. Milan are where they are now largely due to the presence of Zlatan

Mandzukic is 34& a half and has barely played in 2or 3 years , to big a gamble I think . 3yrs ago maybe ,but not now
We need someone who’s hot and firing right now.
He’s not another ibra & I can’t believe u clowns think he could stay on after ibra retires,
I’d prefer we brought Andre Silva back in or Marcus Thurman

Well, Zlatan just started following your handle, I hope you know what that means?
Mere mortals talking about the gods

Something must be so wrong with you to talk about Ibra like that. Am very sure you’re no milan fan, you just here to start unnecessary controversial argument.

Yes, yes, and please yes!

Six months with the possibility of an extension.

nice addition to milan’s balkan connection. rebic, ibrahimovic and mandzukic on the same team would be filthy (the less said about krunic the better). next milan should get modric, de bruynic and messic. in all seriousness, mandzukic or giroud would be great back up targetman for ibra so this looks good on paper. shame one of them couldnt come way sooner. i have questions though. why did mandzukic’s contract with that middle east team get terminated by mutual consent? was it because he didnt like playing in middle east or was it because 2 goals in 10 games just wasnt… Read more »
