Ante Rebić and Rade Krunić have Coronavirus and are therefore out of tonight’s match against Juventus.

The Rossoneri take on Juventus at Stadio San Siro when the clock points 20:45 CET. While Matteo Gabbia, Ismaël Bennacer, Sandro Tonali, Alexis Saelemaekers and Zlatan Ibrahimović were already out, today the club announced that two more players – who were supposed to start tonight for the Diavolo – are out.

“Milan can confirm that Ante Rebić and Rade Krunić returned positive results during a molecular swab test carried out yesterday ahead of the match against Juventus,” a statement on the website of the Rossoneri reads. “The players, who are asymptomatic, remained in self-isolation at home, where a second control swab was taken today. The health authorities were promptly informed. All team members were subjected to a further test today, returning negative results.”

It remains to be seen who Stefano Pioli will choose to replace the midfielder and the forward. Juventus also have Juan Cuadrado and Alex Sandro out of the match tonight with Covid-19.

Play Calhagnoglu in midfield with Diaz as AM and Castillejo right wing?

The worst possible news..but the same can be said with Juve.
Maybe Calabria will be moved to the midfield, and it’s interesting to see which one of Conti and Dalot who’ll get a nod.

Krunic absent is a blessing. However, Rebic may be missed. Although we have Hauge.

well krunic might not be our best performing player but atleast he was fit and has played reguarly so if you seriously believe its good we are missing him and sees it as a blessing when we will be forced to either move either calhanoglu back down there or moving calabria up there and starting dalot or an unfit conti down at the right back well then i think you are bonkers in regard of this matter. The teams midfield is in tatters as we only have 1 cm and one unproved youngster with not a single minute for the… Read more »

I think it’s stupid to move Calabria and Calhanoglu out of their position for such a big game especially given the fact that they are performing well in their natural roles. That would weaken the team in my opinion.

Therefore it makes more logical sense to play Kalulu alongside Kessie and replace Rebic with Hauge.

Well its not that im not intrigued by the idea of seing kalulu in the cdm role BUT that would be rather optimistic to believe that he would immediately exceed in that role when the first time ever playing against a team of juventus stature and an on paper far stronger squad than ours. I get the point though that moving calhanoglu and calabria away from their natural positions could be problematic as well and i do believe we should try to limit too much experimentation or for that matter changing formatíon as its better to stay faithfull to what… Read more »

I hear you brother. My issue with Krunic and Calhanoglu is their lack of defensive ability to protect the back 4. Kalulu has shown that he is good in 1 on 1 and good at interceptions and reading the game. Kalulu is also good at moving the ball forward. All of this from a CB position. So just like Marcel Desailly, Kalulu has the talent to play alongside Kessie as a DM. It natural for CB to progress into this role. Don’t forget that Kessie started out as a CB in his career. Anyway I’m confident Milan will do well… Read more »

Compleatly agree with Zion. Its natural for CB to progress in a CDM. No need to mess with the rest of the formation. However Rebic is ireplacable, the chances he creates from the wing has been crucial for our upricing. No matter who will be on the left wing Rebic will be missed.

well i dont want hakan to play cdm but as a cm while kessie has the greater wokload of the two. Well it might be that kalulu could take that role but doing it against juventus as the very first time i have my doubts about would work any better. At this point i’d take a draw with both hands if i could. Im generally a fairly positive fan but the two covid cases has atleast for me shattered the confidence of a win today but i hope to get a surprise anyways. Well we might believe in it but… Read more »

Agreed. At this point I will dare to say that I trust his team selection and assessment of the players. Pioli and his look alike assistant is doing a great job. Forza Milan.
