Zlatan Ibrahimović was just about to return – but got injured again today.

Milan have been struggling in attack in recent games and have been eagerly waiting for the return of Zlatan. However, bad news came out of Milanello today and the comeback of the Swede will take even longer than anticipated.

Ibra trained with the squad today and was supposed to be included in the squad list for Sunday’s extremely difficult match against 6th-placed Sassuolo.

However, as reported by Milannews.it on Friday evening – Zlatan, who was recovering from a hamstring injury – suffered a new injury today. At the end of the session, the 39-year-old Ibra felt pain in his left calf. MRI test showed hemorrhagic suffusion in the context of the soleus muscle.

A control examination will be carried out in at least 10 days from now. Simon Kjær and Ismaël Bennacer are also injured and will not return against Sassuolo.

4-3-1-2 donna calabria – kalulu – romag – theo kessie tonali krunic hakan leao rebic/hauge/brahim or 4-2-3-1 donna calabria – kalulu – romag – theo tonali – kessie rebic – hakan – hauge leao/brahim either way, milan’s fvked royally. damn international breaks, damn those cheapskates nazidis and eldiott and damn paqueta, andre silva (who has scored more than werner, morata, auba, cavani, dzeko AND neymar so far this season) and baka’s departures. this is the real test for milan; pioli better not mess up by playing players out of positions and for tarantino’s sake nazidis and eldiott better provide maldini/massara… Read more »

Ibra is hurt because our great coach saw his team without him and rushed him back. I am very upset right now. Why is he in a full training session? Soft tissue injuries are dangerous.

He injured his calf, how did that result in rushing him back?

When one injury isn’t healed all the way, the rest of your body compensates. So for example if you hurt your left foot, when you walk, by nature your right foot takes more of the load on.

Perhaps. I hope it wasn’t the case because we can’t afford to have more of our injuried players sidelined longer due to the medical teams negligence.

I unfortunately believe this will be how Ibra is going to be as long as he has left to play due to his age. Sad but probable.

Yeah, he injured his calf and missed the June games when they resumed, I hope it’s not the same thing. I believe it was about a month recovery.

clearly ibra’s been rushed back to action way too soon, just like ben. the sad thing is that many milanisti have complained on socmed that theo and kjaer werent well rested enough right before celtic game in which kjaer got injured. we cant really blame players for getting injured from playing every 3 days but milan really should’ve prepared for something like this. like i said many times, milan are in rebuilding phase thus they dont have luxury to just offload players madrid style. if anything, they need to buy. selling players left and right just so milan can trim… Read more »

This is a very bad news for us right now..Anyway, this is where Pioli ingenuity will be tested, because it shouldn’t be that without Ibra we can’t score. Afterall ,other clubs don’t have striker like Ibra and they still find the back of the net several times. If kjer plays then the defence is solid, what we will need then is to conjure goals anyhow until Ibra returns. But we should they to wrap up Thauvan deal this January if we ain’t gonna buy a striker

I think if Thauvin arrives it will be at season’s end.

This is bad news and it might mean that Ibra will miss the match against juventus in January.

Milan need to sign Milik ASAP on loan with an option to buy. We cannot continue without a natural striker.

If we would undo all the hard work that got us at the top of Serie A. We need a CB – Kabak , a DM – Soumare since Bennacer is injured and a CF – Milik.

Thauvin can arrive next summer.

If we miss this beautiful opportunity to qualify for champions league or get closer to winning the scudetho I will blame Maldini and his group for refusing to accept that milan needed a second comfimed striker insteadr of relying on Maldini son and his friend Colombo who played well against seria Z teams but are like babies when playing against big clubs Am very sad not for this news alone but for the fact that we are letting this hard earned opportunity which eluded us for the past 12 years slip away Hope we will sign another striker immediately without… Read more »

Milan are destined for 5th position without ibra,I don’t know the jinx on this milan team that always affect players when they are playing well

It seems that Pioli will stick with 4231. Leao as the CF. He is not a radical coach to change the formation. But I agree with this

but Tonali has not adapted well with two man midfield yet and Hakan’s performance is not reliable since his contract has not been solved yet.

I think 4312 is not a bad idea at the moment. Use saelemakers as RB, Hauge as AMC and Tonali as regista.

Some of the comments are from bad faith milan fans. Some people have been waiting for news like this to start talking negative crap. We have a few games left in December. And as long as we have our core midfield (Bennacer Kessie), and our core defense Kjaer & Roma. Then we have fight. Ibra makes it easier to score, but we will get a back up striker in January. The only issue is that Maldini’s transfer strategy in the summer was for a top 4 finish. Milan being first came as a bit of a surprise. Let’s see how… Read more »

True that the target is a top four finish… Keeping that in mind is paramount and anything above four is bonus.

correctamundo mate. like i said, milan should take it one game at a time and try to keep the distance between them and 5th placed team. scudetto is just a bonus and a bit unrealistic, unless milan can finish as campione d’inverno. i find it rather funny and ironic how the table have turned. people (read: the uninitiated) were laughing at conte for crashing out of ucl and for having at least 9 players unavailable due to injuries and covid earlier this season. his inter kept pressing on and now theyre just 1 point below milan. hopefully milan can pull… Read more »

Patience is key my friend. After years of mindless FIFA career mode aquisitions, the management is acting shrewdly, if not to a fault. Once we are stable enough to pull in consistent UCL dollars, we too, may be able to splash some serious cash. I just hope we don’t overpay for a mediocre striker this January who will flop and result in a quick loss in resale.

patience is indeed the key but i have no patience for nazidis the cheapskate and his youngling fetish. believe it or not arsenal never cared too much about young players before he came along. sol campbell, bergkamp, lehmann, pires, lauren and kanu were already established stars before they joined arsenal. its only after nazidis took over that they started selling star players like van persie (who literally criticized his method in his column in newspaper before his departure to man utd, of all teams) and cesc and replacing them with clowns like frimpong and bendtner. and look where they are… Read more »

I think the problem is, the board didn’t expect milan to be this good.
They would think that milan is gonna lose here and there, fighting for 4th/5th place
That’s why they’d be like “okay, this squad is enough now, if this team can play good with last season squad, a little addition here and there would help”
But then boom! Milan continue their unbeaten streak and on top of the table
Now the board realize “oh shit we should have brought more and better players”

correctamundo mate. what nazidis and eldiott dont realize is that maldini as 1st team player didnt even know how it felt to finish outside top 4 until he was already 27, and in his prime he only finish outside top 4 4 times. i didnt follow ibra at malmo and la galaxy but im pretty sure his european teams never finished outside top 4 either. we’re talking about cream of the crop of football here. like i ibra said, u cant buy ferrari and drive it like fiat

wish Him heal asap,
i think even without Z we still can scoring, of course will be harder but our players is good enough in scoring, we need Kjaer more than Z, just counting our goals without Z & our conceding without Kjaer.
