Jens Petter Hauge impressed Milan on Thursday at San Siro so much that they now intend to buy him, and are apparently ready to make an offer.
Milan beat Bodø/Glimt 3-2 on Thursday night with an impressive performance from Hakan Çalhanoğlu, who scored two great goals and made a back-heel assist.
However, the Turkish of Milan was not the only one who danced on the pitch: Jens Petter Hauge of the Norwegian side was just as impressive on the other side of the pitch, terrorizing the defense of Milan all night, getting a goal and an assist.
Immediately after the game rumours started to circulate that the heads of the technical side at Milan, Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara, were so impressed by Hauge that they contacted his agent to start talks to bring the 20-year-old winger (primarily on the left) to Milanello.
Gianluca Di Marzio on Sky Italia confirmed the rumours last night, claiming that there was ‘love at first sight’ on Thursday between Milan and Hauge. Di Marzio claims that there is a lot of competition for the player, who in 17 matches this season scored 14 goals and assisted 9 more. The Diavolo are accelerating and there is hope that they’ll be able to conclude the deal within 48 hours.
Tuttomercatoweb reports that the offer of Milan is going to be €4 million plus bonuses. “I don’t want to comment on specific clubs, but we know that they have a thing for Jens Petter,” Hauge’s agent Atta Aneke told VG. “There has been a lot of interest also before the match. There have been clubs that have shown concrete interest. After the match, several clubs but clubs that were interested before have intensified their interest to reach an agreement. The interest has skyrocketed.”
Hauge himself commented on the interest of Milan yesterday: “It is not something I focus on or have been particularly updated on. It is of course a club I would like to play for. It is one of the biggest clubs in the world, something I got a taste of on Thursday considering both the city and the stadium.
“The praise of Pioli? It’s very fun. It’s nice to be noticed and fun that they appreciate the qualities I have. I definitely take that with me further and use it as motivation to get even better, Hauge answers about the praise from the Milan coach. If it’s the right step to take? Yes, I do. As long as the system fits and the coach has faith in me, such a step is affordable.”
It remains to be seen what will happen and even if the Rossoneri manage to agree a deal, it’d be interesting to see if Hauge would arrive immediately or kept on loan at Bodø/Glimt until January.
