Giacomo Bonaventura was emotional at the end of last night’s game as his contract is not expected to be renewed.

Milan played yesterday evening their final match of the season, but for some players it was their last time in Red and Black.

One of these players is Jack Bonaventura. The 30-year-old midfielder has an expiring contract and is believed to be part of the plans of Elliott for next season.

Bonaventura has been at Milan since 2014, and was easily one of the best – if not the best – player of il Diavolo during a very difficult period in the club’s history. With 35 goals in 184 appearances, Jack’s raw talent, discipline and flexibility have always been added values for any coach he’s had to work with.

Against Cagliari last night, Bonaventura came off the bench in the 38′ minute, replacing the injured Rafael Leão. After completing the game, in which he also assisted the 3-0 goal, Giacomo stayed on the pitch for a bit longer – after everyone had left; he got on the ground and began crying.

His tears continued as he left the pitch of San Siro, most likely for the final time as a Milan player.

Grazie, Jack!

Really feel sorry for him… when we played miserable he was the best player on our team, and when we started to have a competitive team he got injured. I hope he joins Inzaghi my idol 🙂

Martin Bernhard

If he does infact leaves us he will be missed as he was allways one of our better players in some tumulterous years and also did his utmost when fielded. I wanted milan to buy him in atalanta and glad we did as he proved to be an asset from the get go and personally wouldnt mind us giving him a one year contract extension but on the other hand it might make more sense at this point to buy a younger talent. Anyways bonaventura certainly will be missed by me but hope he endsup in a club where he… Read more »

If he leaves, then thank you for the last 6 years
If he stays, he can be a more than adequate squad player and help the younger players, and also be here for our 8th along with Ibra the season after next season!

Kayla

Oh what a lovely history it would be to celebrate our 8th with Ibra! I think its really what he is aiming for along with winning the Scudetto, his specialty. Btw, most players who ever played for AC Milan fall in love with the red and black. There is something about Milan. It must be the devils charm. Imagine many icons like Beckham and MVB who love Milan with the latter crying during his last game with us as if he had played with the club for years whereas in fact it was only one and a half season. But that… Read more »

Yes the spirit of Milan is simply unique 🙂
Jack has been the one to carry the team through the most difficult seasons in recent past along with Suso
If we keep and grow our youth talents, the spirit and passion of Milan will always be there

Giacomo Bonaventura’s dedication to AC Milan’s colors is quite rare, and very admirable. Cheers to a job well done, and best wishes for his future football career

With a wage reduction I would extend his contract for at least a couple of years. However, as that looks unlikely all that remains is to thank Jack for his contributions during the last 6 years. He will be missed. Forza Milan!

Your idol is gone for free lmao. Follow him lol. Good luck for both of u.

What a damn shame, one of the best Milan players of the decade.

I couldn’t watch the game, I only saw one pic and got really sad, then I see this post and it’s really depressing.

He really deserves an extension. One year is safe, but perhaps it’s not wise. What a way to say goodbye.

ChrisRossoneri

For all the fans that we were watching every game even in the dark years, Jack was a spark of hope, and maybe one of the best characters that passed from our team. Ciao Bona 🙁

Agustinar

Jack should stay another year for his champion mentality but we already have Ibra. So thanks Jack for your contribution

Ted

He came in at the most unpleasant times for Milan, kept his head down, always worked hard and in silence. Was a spark of confidence when times were darkest and held the team above the water. A standout player and a man. Thank you Jack

Don’t understimate this, Milan is growing, all we needed was solid ownership, good signings and Maldini back. Now let’s have faith in the boys and Pioli. Forza Milan

Mamoon Alvi

We should simply hand him a contract renewal

dejan10

Proof yet again that we don’t need Galliani to come up with these dumbass decisions.

Martin Bernhard

There are some news that speculates in that both maldini and pioli wants to renew bonaventuras contract as they deem him an important squad player and that the player is willing to accept a wage cut from the 2mil he currently earns.

Mrđan

Thank you Giacomo. You were the bright light in the last couple of seasons.
Forza Milan!
