Simon Kjær will stay with Milan for at least two more seasons, as the club has decided to keep him.
Milan got Kjær on loan with option to buy from Sevilla back in January, and the 31-year-old slotted right into the starting XI of the Rossoneri, providing assurances and good performances alongside Diavolo Captain Alessio Romagnoli.
Today – on the last day their option was valid – Milan announced that they have chosen to keep Kjær for the next two years: “Milan is delighted to announce that the club has exercised its option to purchase Kjær on a permanent basis from Sevilla. The Danish player has signed a contract expiring on 30 June 2022.”
Keeping Kjær costs Milan €3.5m. It remains to be seen whether the club will keep using Simon as first option next season, but even if he doesn’t start then Ralf Rangnick will have a quality option.
