Kalulu to join Milan on a free transfer, the 20-year-old right-back should be in Italy for his medical on Monday

Pierre Kalulu will play for the Diavolo next season and he’s capable of taking a role anywhere in the back four.

The season of Milan resumed last night as they took on Juventus in the Coppa Italia semi-final, which ended in a 0-0 draw resulting in the Diavolo getting eliminated due to away goals.

However, the management is already thinking of next season and it appears that they have secured the first signing of the summer: 20-year-old defender Pierre Kalulu.

The news was broken on Saturday by L’Equipe and was later confirmed by Milannews.it, Gianluca Di Marzio and others: Kalulu has decided to turn down an offer from Lyon to renew his expiring deal and has decided to join Milan, snubbing Bayern Munich who also wanted him.

Kalulu, a versatile defender who primarily plays as a right back but can also play on the left and in the center of defense, is brought by Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara. In fact, L’Equipe suggest that a conversation between the Frenchman and Maldini is what made the youngster choose Milan over the others. Kalulu was approved by all the scouts of Milan and he’ll arrive for almost free.

Nicolò Schira says Milan will play Lyon €480k for the player as FIFA training fees. Meanwhile, there is a total agreement between the club and the player’s agent Vlado Lemić for a contract until June 2025, worth €500k per season. According to Di Marzio, on Monday Kalulu will be in Milano for his medical.

While Kalulu never played for Lyon’s first team, he was the Captain of the U19 team and played 16 games in the UEFA Youth League as a starter. He is known for his stamina and is a modern fullback.

while nazidis lately has been trying his best to show his true colors (imposing salary cap for players while he himself earns a lot more than most players, refusing to visit the players at training ground and even refusing to learn basic italian, doing backdoor deal with rangnick etc), maldini once again struck gold with this signing. hell, maldini could strike a lot more (correa, de paul etc) if nazidis and elliott would just back him up. i’ve never seen kalulu play but judging by clips on utube, he seems to be solid modern fullback who can also play as… Read more »

Kid was convinced by Maldini just as Theo was. They will regret showing him the door. Gazidis will be the downfall of this club and it won’t be long till most of the fans will call for his head. I already am done with him.

Richis

Actually, it’s massara deal.

Ted

Sure it is, it is his area of expertise to scout and report young talents. But it was reportedly a conversation with Maldini that convinced the kid.

Ted

Boban convinced Ibra to rejoin Milan and reportedly had Modrić locked in negotiations – sacked

Maldini got us Theo and Kalulu after personally talking with them – sacked

Gazidis is a cancer

Gazidis brought Ragnick, those 2 will bring structure, the one we hadn’t seen for the past 8-9 years.

Kalulu and Kouassi for free. We now have even more to spend on other positions. We can swap Paqueta for Milinkovic(CB & RB). Buy Kjaer for 2.5M and loan Gabbia for experience, maybe even use the loan deal to help us get Tonali, I would hate for a Milanista to join Inter. We now go for young LB for Theo sub, Dumfiers or main parter for Romagnoli (depending on how Milinkovic would be used). Musacchio, Laxalt, Duarte, Conti, Calabria and RR sales would bring 40-45M. In CM positions we have Bennacer, Kessie and Pobega. Tonali would be a dream and… Read more »

I support the project with young players. However I have concern that Milan up until now failed to develop young players. Many talented young players came to milan first team both form outside or their youth ranks. Many of them failed and some impress in their new team. Kluivert,Davids,Pasalic,Pentagna, Cutrone, Locatelli, Viera, De Sicglio, Di Gennaro, Mastour, etc It seems milan only want to field a well-developed young players and doesn’t have a good sytem to grow the youngster.
I am afarid that Gabbia, Brescianini will be next victim

Mastour was just an off-pitch hype he has never proved anything on the actual pitch, De Sciglio left us although he could have turned out to be an amazing fullback but he was with us when we were the weakest team in the history of Milan (Traore, Costant, Urby Emanuelson and all those forbidden to be spoken out loud names), Kluivert and Davids were with us 20 years ago I don’t believe they count. The only ones I actually am till this day confused about are just 5: Locatelli, Cristante, Petagna, Cutrone(who imo is better than LEAO), and soon we… Read more »

Locatelli doesn’t have any muscles, the guy is not technically gifted enough to to have his physique. Overhyped, still, I’m sorry to see him go.   Cristante: Just had a good season, let’s calm down with him, even if he keeps his performances he is a very late bloomer.   Petagna: The same as Cristante, and not the player any big team needs.   Cutrone: This guy will go unnoticed for the most part of his career, he did things only a motivated man can do. His goals are due to great positioning, and his positioning is bad, he just… Read more »

Do pirlo and inzaghi have muscle? Is gattuso technically gifted? One thing for sure, their names were written down in Milan‘s history and will be rembered as stars. It is not a matter of muscle or technically gifted. It is about how to get best out of a player. Milan failed in this case. Look at Atalanta, with limited budget, they actually signed players who are theoritically not needed by big clubs and promote the youngsters. The performance of the team is quite stable in the last 3 season, even better than milan. Conti and Kessie shined at atalanta, at milan they… Read more »

No, Pirlo and Inzaghi did not need to rely on muscle, they football IQ didnlal the work, Gattuso said it himself, I thought I was a football player until I saw Pirlo on the field. Loca was tried as a regista, failed miserably, he is did better as a box to box, but he doesn’t have the stamina, or aggression, or technique. Players like Calabria, Cutrone and Locatelli needed time, or champions to tutor them, to mold them into the way of being a Milan star. Instead, Loca was told, there, “here are the keys of the midfield”. Is not… Read more »

If this kid has a similar impact as Theo, then we are only missing a central back, and Gabbia deserves a chance.

Bennacer and Kessie can develop to be an unbeatable pair. Tiresless strong mf, one technical, other a tank tackler.

Imagine Rebic, Ozil and Paqueta behind Cavani.

Allegri as the coach, that’s an affordable road for CL qualification.

For my Milan10sta friend, Bakayoko as a regista, Ozil trequartista, Rebic and Cavani up front.

Deku

Cavani max 2 years and it won’t be anything special, similar to Ibra. Ozil’s career has been dead for the past 5 years why would anyone want him? I prefer Tonali, Florentino Luis and Torreira to Bakayoko(if we had bought him last year yeah but I think it’s a bit too late to be crying over spilled milk).

Raven

Is not spilled milk, if a serious management put an offer on the table we buy him, is just Gazidis aka handbrake who is holding us down.

Ozil is the player we need the most, a link between mf and st. Since Kaka left we have a void in that role. Piatek, Cutrone, Silva, Kalinic, Bacca, Torres Higuain, Zlatan can tell you that I’m right.

Your options are good, but expensive

Deku

Chelsea want 42M for him, we can settle with Brescia for 40-45M. yeah my alternatives which are better than Baka are way to expensive…. XD

Raven

Tonalli is future, we need present, if I could buy any I still go with Tonalli. But is a bigger gamble. Bakayoko is tried and thruth the man to lead the midfield. What if we pull another Piatek with Sandro? Anyways, I said we only need Ozil and Cavani, I trust in the pair Bennacer-Kessie. Ozil can lead the central midfield area alone. Cavani will go to inter, but he is also an inexpensive option and a proven winner. I’m sure Madrid still regrets not going after him when they paid 100m for Bale. Now, I’m just dreaming, our manager… Read more »

Is all about the balls, when a dressing room is lost there is nothing else to do.

Changing the tactics after defeat is always a morale destroyer. Is like everything done was wrong. Players did bad, some will be benched, and the coach is an loser and coward.

The mastermind the future of italian football the soon to be WC winner Giampaolo is the perfect example.

The first stepping stone for our return to glory must be offering ragnick a 10 year contract, 5 years up front. So, an asshole like Gazidis can’t fire him.

Milan10

its not only about the balls, its also about the insufficient fund for mercato. stupioli and giamfanculo are pragmatic cowards, yes but to be fair milan didnt let them build team as they wanted. giamfanculo reverted back to 4-3-3 because he felt milan wasnt build for 4-3-1-2 due to garbage mercato (no correa as am etc). hell, just few days back vs juve milan only had 1 st available thus theres no way milan could’ve used 4-4-2.
hopefully now that rangnick will become manager (a coach AND sd), milan will operate better in mercato

Ted

There are strong reports suggesting Milan would like to swap Paqueta for Fiorentina’s Milenkovic. That would be lovely, I see him as an ideal partner to Romagnoli with Kjaer and Gabbia as alternatives.

The only thing I am worried about is Paqueta’s possible refusal to leave.

OmarLittle

That would be foolish not a chance that i would exchange Paqueta for Milenkovic if Fiorentina want Paqueta then they better offer something really good like Castrovilli or Chiesa…

Deku

Milinkovic is an amazing defender, rather than CB, he should be brought as RB, and then try to pull of a miracle with Upamecano. Paqueta has had one mediocre half of a season an one horrible season.

T.Hernandez-Romagnoli-Upamecano-Milenkovic
Donnarumma

I’d rather have these guys in my defense, than to have an overrated Brazillian.

OmarLittle

Paqueta has the potential to be a great player i just dont think he has adapted to european football and life in Italy yet… You want to put Milenkovic as a RB he is too slow and clumsy to be a wingback he is a CB and you overrate his abilities Milan should get Dumfries as a RB he can be like Theo but on the right side
but i agree with you about Upamecano but i dont think Milan can afford him he will take up more than half our transfer budget this summer

The majority problem was Maldini and Boban. Signing Giampaolo was their idea and he was a major flop. Same can be said about Leao who is no striker. A winger at best but Leao is a flop.

Also, Gazidis wanted Rangnick to replace Gattuso because the budget they had to work with and Maldini rejected the idea completely without even considering it. He wanted Giampaolo which was a bad decision. He should stuck with Gattuso.

u know ur les midtables member when: 1) u consider player who barely even plays in his 1st season a flop. i bet les midtables considered san marco, savicevic, hell even davids and kluivert flops too. 2) u praise nazidis as some kind of visionary budget ceo when nazidis has turned arsenal into crap team for good. hell, he even refused ibra twice when its clear that milan cant even score without ibra and/or 4-4-2. 3) u think rino would be successful this season with milan when he couldnt even secure 4th spot when teams like lazio, napoli, atalanta etc… Read more »

Yes, you’re right.

Boban trashed Rino before joining Milan, once he took the role he destroyed the team, and didn’t have the balls to admit he was wrong.

Maldini says Rino is my friend but…. Rino “resigns”
Maldini says I completely support Giampaolo, then the asshole is sacked.

Maldini was wrong, but Gazidis and Elliot also don’t have any faith in him, so he is just used to sell tickets. Another legend roasted.

i’ve been thinking, now that napoli has pretty much secured european spot by beating juve and juve itself will surely qualify for ucl, does that mean 7th placed in the league will also qualify for el (given napoli finish 6th or above)? i hope so

I dont get why people here isnt hyped about the idea of Rangnick joining us. He is very methodical and has clear ideas of how he want his teams to play. He buys fairly cheap players that often has gone under the radar of other teams that fits his vision and then let them grow their talent and if at some point a huge offer arives then potentially maximizes the investment many times than what was initially paid. He increases the value and esteem of the clubs he has worked with.and has been a succes wherever he has gone. Not… Read more »
