nick

Reply to  Fra

The derby against Inter is just another league game that is worth 3 points. The same 3 points as the game against Verona.

The derby is not a cup final so it’s pretty stupid if Pioli is resting his best players and risking losing 3 points against Verona, a team that we most likely can beat just for a derby game against a stronger team in inter.

That makes absolutely no to say the least. Might as well bench Donnarumma then if that’s what Pioli is thinking according to you. SMDH

That you say means exactly you do not have any idea about football in Italy.. losing Della Madoninna is losing everything here and putting mental pressure on every single member of the club for the rest of season whether is professional or not

That’s bs. I’ve been watching Milan since 1988. Win or lose for either club is not bigger than the club’s objectives. It only matters most to the fans for bragging rights. Smh.

Milan owners are losing money and if we don’t qualify for CL they will lose more revenue which means that Elliott will barely making any profit even if they sell the club this summer.

Elliott is a vulture fund which means their only objective of taking over Milan was to make a profit.

That’s a lousy excuse for a coach who didn’t have any creative ideas OR tactical proficiency. The derby is not what Milan season is defined by it’s absolutely bizarre for a team entire season to collapse over a derby lost.

Gattuso was inexperience and incapable tactically. So any excuse would have been sufficient.

I agree that it was instrumental to us getting into a slump and not qualifying but from what i read in nicks comment further above is that its pretty much that season goals top the della madonnina results and that you cant really argue about either. Sure milan fans allways want to beat inter and vice versa but in the end what really matters is the final standing in the league.

i know technically and mathematically all league matches are equal, hence i said not too long ago that to qf for european comp next season milan only need to pull a juve and win their winnable matches. its ok to lose vs rivals as long as u always grab max points vs teams ur supposed to beat, at least in theory. however, football is played by human being hence the psychological aspect plays important part otherwise champions like serena williams wouldnt pay top coaches like tony robbins handsomely to be her mental coach. here’s a fact: 10 matches before that… Read more »

“i know technically and mathematically all league matches are equal” In theory, yes. But two teams playing for a certain position in the standings the head-to-head games are basically 6 point matches because the winner takes the points from the losing side. So I’d say the two Roma & Atalanta matches that we have left are 6 point matches each. If we win them both, the gates are open to . Inter, on the other hand, are waaaay beyond reachable so it’s a normal 3 point match. Maaaan, I would love to see Milan win next week but today’s performance… Read more »

Im not questioning what you said as such as i know those matches are important to the club and fans but as i also said what matters is the final standing. Besides of that anom has a good point in regard of some matches nearly having a double worth as they are against close competitors. Again i also remember pioli in the last week or two saying that the next match is allways the most important one so actually giving some players a rest before the inter match wouldnt make any sense towards that comment.

yes what matters is final standing hence milan cant afford to lose vs inter because like it or not, losing prestigious matches like this will ruin team’s mentality hence ruin the team’s ability to rack up precious points. there are a lot of examples and im too lazy to mention. regarding benching star players ahead of important clash, its common practice in football world. psg and juve often bench neymar, mbappe, cr7, dybala when they face minnows. hell, even milan used to bench gullit and san marco. also, ibra, conti, bennacer, kjaer werent benched because verona’s weak but because they… Read more »

So-so first half against a tough Verona side. They dominated the first 20 minutes, but we woke up in the remaining minutes. Leao and Rebic lack the chemistry each has with Zlatan, and our midfield is having a hard time against Verona’s press and clogged up midfield. Jack is not in the match so far, and we could definitely use more organization going forward. On the other hand, Verona wasn’t dangerous apart from the goal and the shot off of Theo’s turnover at the edge of our box.

milan lost mf battle at the start of the match because hakan failed to emulate bennacer’s passing and tenacity. but as the game progressed hakan – kessie did decent job winning the ball back and spreading it around. verona’s goal and almost all their dangerous attacks came from calamitybria’s side. even musa didnt trust him that he often left his post to assist him, leaving romag alone in the middle. theo also got beaten again at the far post, like he did vs torino. he needs to work on his marking skill. rebic – leao really lack chemistry but its… Read more »

Because Elliott Fund is losing money the longer they hold onto Milan. The club will be sold to LVMH in the summer.

So there was no intention to spend to strengthen the squad. Milan are actually a weaker team now since we didn’t replace Piatek and Suso.

But Singer doesn’t care they want to leave as soon as possible and with a profit because they are hemorrhaging money to keep the club afloat.

I get that no people with affiliation with the club would go out and say that they leaked it because that would mean instantly getting sacked from whatever position they… Read more »

if they don’t sell till summer, expect donnaruma, theo, romagnoli and paquetta sold in the summer. what they did in this window, they already stripped the club of it’s assets, which stupid, considering CL is not out of reach, and it looks like they gave up on the season. really weird situation.

The choices they made in the transfer window could mean several things in my opinion. A potential sale in the making. In general improving ffp after january 2019 spending spree turning futile for us to qualify for cl. Regain cash before players value further plummits. Removing unsatisfied players creating disturbance in the locker room. That they have set their eyes on certain players (tonali/chiesa/ wage heavy free agents ?) and want to be sure to be able to compete financially when needed without the constrictions of having too many cost heavy players that they would need to offload before acting… Read more »

I think this is the most frustrating match I’ve ever seen in my life. The only positive I can think of is that Maldini should now be confident that Pioli is only good as interim coach. Now on to the players and coach, in frustration inducing order. – Pioli, did you do your homework? What the fuck was that? For the next match take your head out of your ass. – Castillejo, he now wants to replicate Suso? Clearly the most frustrating player on the field. – Calabria comes second, with FFP chasing our ass, performances like this sends you… Read more »

verona aint a bad side. they troubled both juve and inter, playing as the away team. in both games, they narrowly lost 2-1 after taking the lead, where they only conceded from set pieces and spectacular long shots. ivan juric has coached them well to play in a 3421 system, making them solid defensively and with a clear plan when attacking (relying on multiple hardworking midfield runners to attack the central space with attacking wing backs providing width). i’m not saying he’s a world class coach or milan should hire him, but it just shows the value of good coaching… Read more »

You’re right, Verona has been playing solid, but it’s not like they played so well, it’s that Milan played like a bunch of idiots who lost their cool. They showed no confidence in the tactics. At least IMO

I agree with most of it. But i must admit that the ideas pioli brought to the field with the team he had was not stupid, well not super stupid. Having Leao and Rebic up top is not the worst idea. If they switch with each other and make space they can be deadly like they showed on the wing with Theo at times but and but this would make more sence if we are playing 4312 instead with Paquetá/ Hakan behind as nr10. Maybe they to can switch with each other. I think we saw the rigid static play… Read more »

We should have just sold Leao and left Piatek! I was so pissed watching him fault every good attack. Slow, indesisive, poor passing, stays long on d ball and easily gets dispossessed, falls easily, just mention it…

I don’t even know what anyone sees in Leao. He’s more of a winger than a striker. He’s no different from Niang even worst at finishing.

Wouldnt really call it a shock report as it was also up in the media a few months ago and back then ragnick completely rejected the notion that he had been in any sort of contact with the club.

Ralph Ragnick would be a blessing for Milan. Because he will most likely bring in players like Timo Werner and Dayot Upermecano from Leipzig and possible a few young talented players like Luka Jovic.

His role would be like Alex Ferguson. This role would be unprecedented in Serie A and would give him total control over the players he signs. I hope this rumor is true.

Ragnick has an eye for talent.

do we have that much money to spend? unless a new owner with deep pockets comes in, i don’t think we have the resources to sign all those players you mentioned. in my opinion, we should just stick with maldini and boban instead of restarting again with rangnick. both of them have shown they have the eyes for signing young talents and should be given the opportunity to finish the job. maldini has already warned the fans at the start of the season to expect an up-and-down season as we are just starting the project, and that they will perhaps… Read more »

stop complain about our club… we have 5 win and because we draw againts verona then we scream like kids wants candy???
suso played, you are all complain… suso out and samu play, you are still complain… what the hell…
we are on the right track and i believe we can do more after this games…
if you still want we make win until 38 games then you should go to ur laptop or pc then playing football managers… you can repeat if you lose…

Dapito yes complaining just for the sake of complaining or for that matter just venting frustrations for the sake of venting but you gotta realize regardless of us getting several wins in a row we also got quite lucky in lots of those matches as they could just as well have gone the other way around but luckily they didnt. If we just ignore the fact that we actually had the marginals on our side and think everything is just fine then when things really start to turn sour it will bite us extra hard rather than us actually accepting… Read more »

Maybe its the pressure for the young to play at such a big stage. They need to gel and trust one another. Also experience and belief.

First of all sorry for the late reply but i had a bit rough day yesterday but overall propably agreeing that is part of the equation but for the verona game atleast it really shouldnt be an excuse as over half of the players had played with eachother for several years and even though fear to fail maybe is part of the problem it could just as well be the overall approach. When that is said its expected to feel the pressure at a club of milans size but if the players or coach let fear to fail becomes too… Read more »

Dapito, look at our place in the standings on February 2019, then go and look for the top 5 most expensive team(wages) in italy and look who is the youngest team in serie a.

Ignorance is a bliss.

Don’t act so surprised and dissapponted, this team is not even on Atalanta’s level let alone a CL contender. At least they did not waste any money building a team for an interim coach, it is a clear statement Pioli’s leaving in the summer. And my god how weak they are without Zlatan on the field, it is concerning.

Agustinar

Our problem now is the LM. If we put Leao there, it will boost the attack but risks the defense because Leao is not good in covering LB area when Theo go up. May we should try and motivate Paqueta there.

Or try at Theo at this position and play a more defensive LB. Theo is very Similar to bale. He can’t show all his talents in LB position

I still believe Piatek/Silva/Cutro would have scored more goals that Piatek/Leao/Ibra/Rebic.
Not only we destroyed the chance of having an stable attacking line for a decade, we somehow ruined their career too.

I agree except for piatek. Cutrone however was scoring 10+ from the bench. Imagine if we showed the same faith in him that we showed in Silva, kalanic and piatek. He would have been a machine for us

This is gonna sound stupid but…
I looked back at Milan vs United, the two matches and i saw how Milan swtched from 4411/442 to 4312 in their games. They had the same type of defense but a different attack. A fluidity that made them dangerous. Im not comparing the team from then to now just the tactics sort of. I think we have the players to do this.

Nästa
Nästa

Its been very quiet here for awhile.
I’ve been thinking and i still stand my ground on the idea of us switching between 442 and 4312. We can have a fast wing based lineup with Samu, rebic and Theo more in focus. 4312 with most of the attack goin thru the middle with fast unpredictable forwards Rebic and Leao. And get Paqueta or Hakan freedom behind them with the backup of the rest midfield.

At least one of Ivan Gazidis, Zvonomir Boban and Paolo Maldini are likely to leave at the end of the season, one journalist has claimed.
