Ismaël Bennacer believes the difference is made by ‘fighting together until the end’ as Milan got another win.
Milan won six games from the last 10 games in all competitions, keeping as many clean sheets as well. In short, aside from the Atalanta debacle, the Rossoneri have been getting better results.
Yesterday, the Diavolo faced Brescia and despite not playing a very good game, they still managed to get the three points: Ante Rebić came off the bench for the second week in a row and scored the winner in the 72′ minute.
Gigio Donnarumma was decisive as well in keeping Brescia from scoring, while Bennacer was once again the leading force in midfield. The Algerian, however, will miss the next game against Hellas Verona due to suspension after getting his 5th yellow (for the second time this season).
“What has changed? Now we’re winning, I think that is the biggest difference,” Bennacer told MilanTV at the end of the game. “We fight together until the end, believing we can win every game, as you’ve seen in the last few games. I think that’s what makes the difference.
“What is missing before I’m 100%? I have to learn and improve on everything. Everything, I need to be more decisive and I also need to be more focused. I have to stay in the game, from kick-off until the final whistle. That’s it. Every game I have to be hungrier. That’s it, I have a lot to learn.
“The partnership with Kessié? He does a lot, he does a lot for the team, he helps me and I help him as well. It’s a bit difficult because just two of us have to do a lot, we try to stay tight and I think we are doing well. On Friday we didn’t concede and we won, which is the most important thing. There is always something that can be improved but we’re on the right path.
“What do I want to see against Torino? We have to continue like this and we have to be hungrier because this match was tough, but we have to take the positives from our recent matches and do more as a team. We have to win together on Tuesday because it’s a very important match.”
Speaking in the mixed-zone, Bennacer said: “The most important thing was to win and we took the three points. We suffered but we won. I think the details make the difference. When we are united from the first minute to the last then we can do well.
“Milan in the Europe zone? Of course we have an eye on the standings, we are Milan and therefore we must continue like we’re doing. We need to review what we are not going well and move forward. If something happened at Milanello that made us change? We didn’t start the league well, now the players know each other better and we are more united, also with the new arrivals.
“If the Coppa Italia can also be a road to Europe? It’s a game like any other and we have to win [against Torino on Tuesday]. We have to prepare well. The Champions League? We want to learn, we are growing. If we win then it’s obvious that the Champions League is approaching, but we must be focused on ourselves and our fans and try to win the games.”
