Good start,how’s rebic playing?

He was ok, much better than the Turkish guy. I think that if gets playing time he will be much better.

Rossi

He did good as a creator trying to assist, was capable of making space for him self and it seems he can use his left foot as well, his finnishing was a bit off and sloppy, but did much better than Hakan on the left for sure. I agree with Giuda, he will probably get better with more playing time, this was a promising start from him.

He didn’t play on the left ! He was the second striker and sometimes he doubled Jack on the left, when Jack went to the center ! He played very well and I think he will stay because we need rotation for Leao !

hahaha, no, Spal were scared AF, and didn’t pressure anyone. And that’s because our colors not a formation. But I agree, I’ve been asking 442 since Miha left

Milan10

well, spal werent scared last season when milan could only narrowly win 2-1 home and 2-3 away were they? thats cold hard fact that spal werent scared of rabid dogs but they are sure as hell scared of mighty 4-4-2 now.
speaking or rabid dogs, if u say uve been asking for 4-4-2 since miha left then u need to let go of ur great love rino the chronic user of 4-3-3 with hakan on the wing, kessie as cm and piatek st mate *wink

Are we.. playing good football without Hakan and Suso?? :O
Pioli – take notes!!!

The problem was never piatek. The problem was the ball delivery to him (and our wasteful wingers)

I’m sorry but Piatek is mediocre. This dude always wasting easy chances.

Scoring goals is sort of a rhythm. If you only get a few chances a game it throws you off and makes life difficult and the psychological battle sets in. I think it is a bad choice to turn on Piatek after a rough spell. He will be a solid 14-15 goal a year striker if given the opportunity.

Milan-Spal halftime: Piatek scores and sets up the second, giving Boban/Maldini something to think about. Loving Bennaser’s game so far, and Krunic besides him is calm and effective in protecting the backline. Kjaer also very comfortable, although he didn’t have too much to do.

This Dabo guy spal have is also impressive; could be a cheap option for DM backup (not that 45 minutes is too much of an indication).

I was thinking the same about Dabo from SPAL. I hope Milan management is taking notes on him.

Those who watched the 90 minutes can say. Milan could’ve done better.

Bennacer is very good.

nick
Guest

Agreed but in fairness some of the players like Rebic hasn’t really played much and it showed that he is lacking match fitness. Overall, we played much better using the 442 formation and it is clear that this is the way to go.

What about that DM from SPAL Dabo? I hope Milan sign him. He’s a quality player and probably would do better than Krunic and Kessie.

Raven
Guest
Raven

To be fair yes, Rebic, Castillejo, A.Donnaruma are not match fit.
Rebic not fit? Damn, he looked good, I wouldn’t buy him, but yeah, solid back up. I rather see Ibra next to someone more technical. Rebic could’ve scored, feel bad for him.

To be honest pal, I haven’t seen too much from Dabo, so I won’t give an opinion. What I want is Cuadrado, maybe that’s a swap deal Juve could be interested

asy

dabo aint good enough for fiorentina but good enough for milan? we should not judge a player from one decent performance alone. players should only be signed after proper scouting or else we’ll still be stuck in this mess until the next decade.

SPAL couldn’t even get a shot on target. I think we were very solid at the back. I have to give Pioli credit. This is our 4th clean sheet. If the goals start coming (and they are coming), we’ll climb quickly.

Forza Milan!

loganrt87

You can always say that Raven. Considering we barely eeked out a win last time we played them, the lads showed much improvement.

nick

Good game despite so many wasted chances to kill off the game. Clearly Milan problem was the 433 formation and players like Suso and Calhanoglu. Even though Suso looked more comfortable in a 442 setup.

I don’t believe he will start over Castellijo though because Castillejo does a lot of work off the ball and defensively.

Glad Piatek scored even though he missed some good chances. 1 goal and 1 assist is not bad.

Kjær looked more solid than Musacchio. Not surprised there as I remember him from his Palermo days.

Kjaer looked like a shrewd addition. He showed strength, poise and composure. It may be easy to be composed vs SPAL than Inter, but given his aerial prowess, both him and Zlatan will greatly assist defending and attacking on corners

Ted

Basically it was 2nd team of Milan playing and they did well, considering their limited time on field.

One thing is for sure, Bennacer should never again play in a deep regista role of three man midfield. He has too much creativity in his legs and really good overview on the play to be sitting back there. He delivered such a basic but yet decisive ball for Piatek to score. That’s what’s missing.

Raven
Guest
Raven

Ted, I saw Bennacer playing deep, he was amazing. He is the only one that can connect defense to attack. I can’t remember when was the last time I saw a good vertical pass.

loganrt87
Guest
loganrt87

Good observation, Raven. He will do well, he’s best paired with a hard working engine like Krunic and Kessie. As long as he has coverage, he will be able to provide that defence to attack transition.

Ted

I much rather see him higher up with his energy. He already delivered killer balls on a couple of occasions this season when going forward

He is 23 Years old. Milan at their current state must creat worldclass players.
We can not buy worldclass. Zlatan is pure luck that we got.
To get to the top, milan need to creat a great talent and sell on proffit. This way they can build a good team. You would not find such mature 23 yearold on the market for 30M. Zlatan is only staying 6months. The best thing is that he learns from zlatan and takes the throne.

Rossi
Guest
Rossi

He is 24 in fact. He can never be like Zlatan, just physicly he is different so there is no changing that, he is more of a Suarez type of forward, but he dosent have the speed or natural flair of Suarez either. Cutrone was almost 3years younger and nothing worse than Piatek yet we sold him. And if Milan only sell for profit thats deffinetly NOT how you get to the top, you need to keep your best players if you want to get to the top.

Milan10
Guest
Milan10

“ he is more of a Suarez type of forward” nope. suarez, aguero, romario and tevez are complete st who can score and pass. piatek is more like inzaghi or trezegol; good finishing, shot technique and positioning when paired with another st but cant do anything else with the ball. a poacher. cutrone is poacher as well

Rossi
Guest
Rossi

Well he is missing a lot on 1vs1 for a good finnisher, and his tap in or heading game is preaty weak as well, especialy the headers. But i see your point, thats why i mentioned he dosent have the speed/flair of Suarez, he is trying to move and help the build up game a lot but its just not good enough. I agree for Cutrone, he was the better option for a poacher for me, not just good positioning, he was good with the tap in and headers plus was strong enough to witsand duels in the 16box, something… Read more »

i mean his finishing is good compared to his other skillset like passing, dribbling, vision etc thus he plays exactly like poacher, which he is. the fact that he keeps missing sitters like another poacher kalinimovic means either he’s not calm unlike piatek of genoa or he’s just not good enough like kalinimovic. personally i think he’s just not calm and need playing rhythm.
kaka had much better finishing than piatek and finishing aint even his best attribute. doesnt mean kaka is a poacher like him. its just mean that kaka is much superior than piatek

You are right. Benching Suso was a wise choice, although he looked much better this game when he came on. Maybe he got the wake up call he needed. I’m still for selling him as he seems unmotivated, but if we can’t offload him, bringing him in the last 15 minutes could provide a creative spark.

I liked a lot Rebic tonight, even if he failed some passes, but he assisted 3 times tonight ( twice Piatek and once Castillejo ), he is fast, strong and this is why he is here, to play the second striker, in my oppinion he should start with Ibra and not Leao !!! He is a very strong player, I liked him a lot, he needs minutes, playing time and he become a beast !!! Good win, and a good performance from many of the players. On Rebic there is a player in there, strong quick, needs game time and confidence which will come through game time. Still unsure about Piatek, good in front of goal, but, like Bacca cant pass cant hold up play, cant bring others in, I want him to do well but…we will see. Ibra can maybe teach him. If Piatek still have the desire to fight, and stay in Milan, he should get the benefit of play with Zlatan. As for Bennacer, I think there is still a lot to come from this young man. 4-4-2 and zlatan’s arrival really change milan. anyone who says milan start winning because hakan and suso dont play doesnt understand football AND totally disrespects skills and effort from the coach and players who actually play. congrats milan and rossoneri.

Cutro – Piatek – Silva would have been the future of Milan attacking line. apparently we don’t have time to let players grow because our plan is the mix of having young players and constant success. a new strategy created by MIGHTY gazidis (who is the father of Arsenal’s amazing successes) and respected football directors like Maldini and Boban!!!

borivaldo and bonucci were mirabelli’s wrongdoings but im sure they wouldnt have done that had morontella said “nope, what are u, crazy?”. likewise silva and cutrone, its clear that giamfanculo didnt want them thus milan mgmt sold them. in short, its the coach request to sell him, not maldini/boban. they could’ve sold donna, paqueta, suso, kessie etc but its cutrone instead so blame him

Such players will allways be instrumental for a team and its potential success as they are like the mortar in a wall and without them there wont be a wall standing for long. An entire team of star players wont be a cohesive unit as everyone expects to play consistently and wont set their egos behind what the team actually needs. An important but obvious sidenote to Ravens comment is that its in regard of a goalkeeper joining a team and not conceeding in his first 3 games. exactly mate. clubs like ajax or barca never have to do too much overhauling because they have clear approach, styles and systems thus when they change coaches or players its usually an apple to apple replacement, not a restart or “year zero” like milan have been doing last decade. and thats why i sympathize with and applaud pioli, because overtaking clubs halfway through season is not easy, case in point: rino at napoli. thats also exactly why i’ve been saying milan should go back to 4-4-2; because its traditionally winning formation for milan.

Finally Milan coach understood that 4 3 3 is not suitable for AC….there are no wingers in the team . Suso and Hakan has no speed and confidence to go 1on1
4 4 2 is fine, definettly need to play with 2 forwards

Sell Suso and Hakan right now, plus Samu
