Why keep hakan on left wing, he does nothing there. He only looks half decent through middle. Either swap him for bono or go 4312,theo conti providing width. I like 442 but not with hakan there.

It’s a kind of 4-3-3 with Hakan LCM and Leao LW !!! It’s not a real 4-4-2. Hakan will have some freedom like an AM ! We don’t have real LM or RM to play classic 4-4-2 ! We have players for 3-4-1-2 or 3-5-2 or 4-3-1-2. We can’t play classic 4-3-3, 4-4-2, 4-2-3-1. Theo can play LM and Borini could have played as RM ! We need players like Florenzi, Candreva, Asamoah, Laxalt to play 4-4-2 ! We need another system to perform and this is why we need a good coach from the beginning of the season with… Read more »

actually, having lm/playmaker in 4-4-2 has always been quite common practice in football world. nedved at juve, savicevic or donadoni, mendieta as rm/playmaker at valencia and lazio, hell even boban himself played as side mf in that legendary match vs barca in ‘94. also, lets not forget spain nt in euro ‘08 and wc ‘10. it happens

– Bonna plays his best football on the left side of 4-4-2 and yet Pioli chose out of form Hakan to play there

– We are selling Piatek because we signed 38 years old Ibra!

I can list 10 more but we all know everything about this club is stupid and sad.

The sad part is apparently new new owners will use Boban/Maldini again next year. YAY!

What in the world do these coaches see in Calhanoglu to start him over Bonaventura and Rebić who are way better options in a 442 formation.

I just don’t get it. What more does Bonaventura need to do? Calhanoglu has been so bad this season it’s shocking how every coach shows so much faith in him.

Exactly! Hakan would only suit playing 4312 as a ten, but let’s hope we get 3 points today because another loss/bad performance then what? Sign players? Sack manager? Sack directors? Another formation? We have had plenty of time to get this right it’s so frustrating!!!!

Agreed but personally win or lose Milan need to get rid of Pioli and bring in a top coach like Allegri.

There are rumors that Milan will offer Allegri a role similar to Alex Ferguson so he will have full control over the players signed.

I would like to see Ralf Rangnick as sporting director to work with Allegri. Ricky Massara is too inexperienced for that role at a big club like Milan.

Average to mediocre first half; Hakan and Kiesse okay in the mid, Hakan and Samu are not as good on the flanks (suprise, suprise). Zlatan looks a bit rusty (another suprise), but Leao actually started quite well. Theo again too weak on his side, but in offense is still the most dangerous (every week he looks more and more as a forward).

Let’s win this.

Milan look like a totally different team with Suso and Calhanoglu out the team. We played the useless 433 half a season and only scored two goals from open play. We switch to 442 drop Suso and we score two goals from open play? Not surprised Now time to drop Çalhanoğlu from the starting lineup. Kessie and Bennacer did well today especially defensively. Guys, can anyone tell me what is going with Kessie? The whole season he looked horrible today he puts on a shift. Samu should start instead of Suso from now on. I wonder whether he can be put into extra-protein diet, the guy needs a bit of muscle. He has the technique but needs strength. Forza 4-4-2.

Kessie was being used as a mezzala in a 433 instead of DM in a 442. Our players were looking bad in that useless 433 formation.

Now that we switched to a 442 Kessie is playing more to his strength which is a DM. He started his career as a defender so it is natural for him to feel comfortable as a DM.

First parts were true but he will never be a world class player though. It should be forbidden for him to cross the halfway line. He can’t do **** in the opponents half but he can be useful – at times – in our own half. When he has motivation to fight. He rarely does though and he’s the worst midfielder in Serie A in marking his guy in corner kicks.

thanks to coach Pioli and the boys. appreciate the win. 19 games to go. give us 3 points for every matches.

i think it would be good to play RR and Theo together. Theo is good as LM. Paqueta is good as 2nd striker. his shooting, dribbling and power is good. a though competitor for Piatek. as for Leao, i think his natural position is as RW. selling Suso for a top CB or RB would be awesome.

hope to see more wins until the end of the season.

Good result in a tough away fixture. We started looking much better after the first goal, which was somewhat a fluke (although superb pass from Samu) but Zlatan started showing sparks of his old self. Already he’s a bigger presence in the box than Piatek of this season, and a goal is always a good way to get back to form. Kessie and Bennaser also deserve credit for holding the mid properly, and neutralizing Niangolan. We need more of this, much more, and more of everything really. And the formation really doesn’t play to our strengths, since we have no… Read more »

Good point but I wouldn’t be so quick to judge Piatek because of Ibra performance today because Ibrahimović was ineffective in our useless 433 formation.

Piatek would do well in a 442 formation. They are different strikers but neither of them were able to play to their strengths in a 433 with Suso and Calhanoglu in the team.

The big difference today was the 442 formation, dropping Suso for Leao and the pairing of Bennacer and Kessie as DMs.

That’s what made the difference NOT just Ibrahimović so I wouldn’t be so quick to downplay Piatek.

Is Zlatan proving me wrong? At the moment yes, He is immense.

442 an improvement
Suso not missed
Hakan somewhat on a free role still meh
Kessie-Bennacer great, both young and with huge room for improvement.
Bonaventura invisible
Zlatan? If the man gets motivated he will lead us
Piatek, a damn shame, maybe Calabria’s injury took his chance, I rather see Piatek next to Ibra, and Leao on the left.
Maldini? Either bring some weight so Zlatan can pull a miracle, or handle your resignation, an icon to the team must not accept be used for hyping fans.

I agree but Pioli also needs to drop Çalhanoğlu that’s the final piece in this puzzle. I like the pairing of Bennacer and Kessie. Defensively they were good and they neutralize Nainggolan and João Pedro.

Pal, I screamed very loud when Zlatan scored. What a way for him to handle stamina, the first 45 minutes he just played wise positional football. Second half way more aggressive. The only reason last season milan were better in points and standing was because the other teams were in shit holes too.
I guess people easily forget how bad milan played and their win mostly from penalty, or luck, or individual effort like piatek revelation for a half of last season.

finally we won with good performance… in swcond half, pioli makes changes with kessie, calabria, focus to defense and bennacer move front in attacking area… sometimes i see more like diamond formation… and hakan more effetive like this…
samu, hakan and bona playing good because they have to working hard help defense and going to help attacking too… we played with slowly tempo, playing ball, etc… and and not hurry like we played 4-3-3… i concern about calabria injury, hope is okay…
and the MVP last game, are ibra, leao and dona… what a fantastic performance…
