There’s no need to expect much from Pioli at this point. He’s merely a stopgap and he should get out at the end of the season. He has tried – I mean, he realised that Borini is not a footballer; something the ‘maestro’ Giampaolo didn’t. However, it’s illogical that Pioli didn’t realise early that a system change was absolutely necessary. This whole 4-3-3 has been to try and fit Suso into the team and hope that he has a great day at the office. It’s not working. Even Samu played a great game against Lazio until he got injured, when… Read more »

Agreed. I would even take a chance on Allegri too but definitely Pochetino.

Keep in mind though that we are still paying Giampaolo’s salary too. So if we sack Pioli before the end of the season we will be paying 3 coaches salary. That means we will have to stick with Pioli until the end of the season.

So realistically speaking NO coach can come until the end of the season.

The dumb stuff that Milan management do is just pure comedy. Smh.

I agree that there was no quality output from any of Mendez players. They all flopped. But can I blame Mendez OR the dummies at Milan like Mirabelli and with all due respect to Maldini and Boban as they are the culprits who signed them. As for Raiola, he’s an intelligent agent. He is looking out for himself and his players interest and he has some of the best players in world. Milan is not structured properly and Raiola knows that if we are not in the CL he can move his clients to bigger teams and make a fortune.… Read more »

Of course it’s management’s fault – Mendez is just doing his job (which is making him and his client’s money).

And I agree completely- we need someone with money and balls to own the club, like berlusconi in his prime. But current and previous owners did give us some funds to work with, and we completely squandered it.

What will happen if we play 2 strikers of Piatek and Ibrahimovic and forget about 4 midfielders? We have played with 4-5 midfielders each time and have conceded 3-5 goals each match So why can’t we take a risk for the first time by playing 2 strikers in a match? Doing the same mistakes and expecting a different result. I think this one is on the coach. Clearly, 2 cbs are not enough when the fbs are high up top. Everytime rb(conti or calab) receives the ball, they are isolated which leads to committing mistakes. Also, the front three is not working, it is clear that Hakan should be 10 with ibra and leao/piatek up front. Give a chance to caldara or gabbia.

I’ve said it again and again. Selling cutrone was a horrible horrible mistake. How can you sell a person that scores more than 10 from the bench! We never even gave him a run of 5+ games as a starter and he still scores not just from the bench, but with little time to do it(usually 15 min or less) 2. We should have gone for timo Werner. He’s a fast, strong and skillful goal machine and has been lighting up Germany for 3+ yrs now. We need speed up front. We all know suso and hakan are sorry turtles.… Read more »

Exactly. And even when Cutrone didn’t score he worked more in the 10 minutes he got than the whole team together in 90. You didn’t see him walking on the pitch depressed like Suso, Leao & co. The goals per minutes ratio was good for a lad that young. But he’s gone now. And so it the hope for a better tomorrow – at least as long as we keep using 4-3-3 with Suso & Calha on the pitch. Why is it that the only persons who don’t realize that are Milan coaches?

If we’re gonna stick with 433, a new left winger, a right winger, a right-sided mezzala and a defensive midfielder are definitely required.

LW – everton soares, chiesa, draxler, deulofeu, bergwijn
RW – neres, orsolini, politano, anthony, calvin stengs
CM – rakitic, matheus henrique, benassi
DMC – tonali or bakayoko

Anyone can think of any logical target. Lol

Totally agree. Milan is poorly built. The team selection and formation is shocking to me and it would make more sense to use a 3412 with Calhanoglu or Bonaventura behind Ibra and Piatek or 352 or 343.

We will get more out of our wingbacks if we use a back 3 as they will have more freedom in our attacking play. This is just common sense logic because Hernandez and Conti prove that they are good attacking players.

But if we stick with 433 we will definitely need the players you mentioned.

Maybe it’s not totally up to pioli, regarding formation. If we ( the fans) have noticed how bad suso and hakan are I’m sure pioli ( a professional) has noticed long ago but the hierarchy wants him to play these 2 fools to keep their market value up or some sort. You make a valid point but Pioli can use a 352 or 3412 with Suso as a support striker and Çalhanoğlu as an AM or trequartista. Those options are way better than using them in a 433 as wingers. In a 352 or 3412 Hernandez and Conti can provide more space and support to Suso, Çalhanoğlu and Piatek. So I can’t really buy into the politics logic. Pioli has options. Also, he is doing more damage to Suso by playing him and allowing the fans to boo him off the pitch. It doesn’t look good for Suso or the team… Read more »

gabbia (and nervous maldini jr) played ok vs bayern in friendly yet milan still lost while todibo played vs inter in what was official competitive ucl match, a must win match for inter no less and he ended up winning. in short, todibo >> gabbia. now, will gabbia be better than romag and musa IN THE FUTURE? Maybe, but then again maybe not. is gabbia better than both of them NOW? u gotta be kidding me. should milan play him? sure, in coppa italia or friendlies. should gabbia play vs serie a teams? hell no. play caldara, sure. definitely not… Read more »

Judging players based on ONE SINGLE MATCH is …. how would I say this politely?…. idiotic! Let the guys play 5 matches in a row and then we can see if they have the potential or not. Just look at Suso and Calha. They both are able to play one great match per season but does that mean they should play 90 minutes week after week? Nope. No. HELL NO! One match doesn’t mean s****. I’d rather have a player how plays 40 “OK” games than a guy with 1 fantastic match and 39 below-pars. But yeah, I agree that… Read more »

Surely the position is a crucial factor here too. Forwards can show their potential in one match alone but for a central defender it is “way too risky” to do experiments in a delicate phase. With defenders consistency is one of the main things. You must know you can rely on him from week to week. If an attacker has a bad day, it may not cause 3 points (as easily). But yeah, Caldara > Gabbia. And the defense isn’t really the main issue with Milan either. I’m fine with Romagnoli & Musacchio as long as we drop point because… Read more »

Please loan gabbia to a smaller team so that he can develop under less pressure. Milan is just not the place for young players to grow unless they are really, really good – football-wise and mentally-wise – like donnarumma for example. balotelli, saponara, el shaarawy, cutrone, darmian, petagna, cristante, aubameyang, niang, locatelli, gustavo gomez, rodrigo ely, de sciglio are few names that comes to mind regarding young players who failed to establish themselves at milan and were shipped out prematurely, with possibly calabria the next one to join them. Milan’s fix for the goal draught: Replace the striker. Look how many good capable strikers have tried to fix the issue of creating scoring chances with no luck. For some reason they think it’s always the striker’s fault if the rest of the team is incapable of creating any chances – even against the worst teams in Serie A (or C if you remember the friendly matches from past summers).

Agreed. Caldara is fit to play but Musacchio still get selected. I’m shocked by the rumors about Milan planning to offload Caldara and Piatek in January especially for Kjaer and Petagna? Unbelievable

The rumors about Bernard Arnault taking over Milan is true and it is being said that he is planning to bring back Braida and Allegri if he is unable to get Guardiola or Klopp.

Honestly I can’t wait for the season to end. I’ve lost patience with Pioli. He is now the person responsible for the team’s poor performance on the pitch.

They’ll probably end up paying more for Petagna than they get for Piatek and we all know that Petagna is only half the striker Piatek is (well, that’s obviously only metaforically speaking since that guy is huuuuuuuuuuuuuge). I don’t think a 4312 is the answer either. We should really try a 352. 4312 is not an offensive formation and we need wins big time. We need to go all out, smother teams with numbers and pressure.

Totally agree. If you look at our current squad, Caldara and Conti were outstanding at Atalanta playing in a 352. Conti was the highest scoring wingback during his last season with Atalanta and his assist was pretty high.

Hernández has the same characteristics and would be even better in a 352.

I don’t get why Pioli is struggling to figure this out. We have gone through so many different coaches and they don’t have the intelligence to see that this team is not built for a 433 or 4312 formation. I don’t understand why they don’t get it. Smh

He’d be – hands down – the best winger in Milan. No questions about it. Milan were interested in him 1,5 seasons ago but let him slip to Inter (just like Sensi). He’s quick, he’s a good passer, he can get past his defender and can score. So basically the exact opposite of Calha & Suso.

A re-enforcement for sure to this squad. But not worth paying overprice like they’ll most likely end up doing. Or playing him in front of the defense. Or replace Pepe Reina. Which could happen since everyone else has been misplaced/misused recently.

Regarding Caldara’s deal, we don’t know the real numbers and terms; but most importantly we haven’t seen him in practice after recovering from his latest injuries. It’s very rare for a player to fully recover previous form after two back-to-back nearly career-ending injuries. Most likely the decision to get rid of him, and lose so much money, is because at this point he’s not even worth 10 mil. I, like everyone else, have serious issues with our current mgmt.
