Theo Hernández has stated that ‘without the hard work of the entire team, we would not have won tonight’ after scoring the only goal in the Parma game.
Theo was once again the hero of Milan as he scored in the 88′ minute against Parma at Ennio Tardini to give the Diavolo the win – their 5th of the season.
The boys of Stefano Pioli were the better side from start to finish but could not convert their domination into goals, until the Frenchman found himself clear in goal in front of Luigi Sepe towards the end of the match.
“I’m very happy to have scored, it’s great to score the winning goal but the whole team worked hard. Without the hard work of the entire team, we wouldn’t have won tonight,” left-back Hernandez, who is now the joint top-scorer of the team with 3 goals to his name, told MilanTV.
“The defense? As you’ve seen, I really like attacking. The coach would prefer if I didn’t get forward as much but it is part of my game [smiles]. I want to score and to help the team and like I said, I’m very happy to have scored the winning goal. I’m working hard and this is the pay off. However, it was just one game, we can’t relax, we need to keep working hard and getting better.
“Conti? He played a great game, we all know he is a very gifted player, he just needs to keep building his confidence to play at his full potential. I’m very happy for him, we’re good friends and we’ll continue to improve. But like I said, we cannot afford to relax. Still, the whole team played a great game and it was great to repay the fans for their support, they were great and we managed to win.
“The next matches? Now, we need to study this match to see what needs improving, I think we all have things we need to improve on, all of us can give more… However, this was a good win, now we need to repeat ourselves next match.”
Theo also spoke to a reporter of Sky Italia at the end of the game today: “I am very happy for the goal, we played a great game and we must continue to work. Now there are other very important matches and we must continue to do well. I’m very happy to be here at Milan, I’m happy that the coach is giving me confidence. I also thank the fans for their support.
“The meeting with Maldini in Ibiza in the summer? It was a nice conversation, he convinced me to go to Milan. I can’t tell you what we said…. Leaving Real Madrid? When I was at Real I was well but I wasn’t playing and I needed to play. When I saw that Maldini gave me confidence, one of the strongest players in history, I didn’t think twice.”
In the mixed-zone, the former Real Sociedad man said: “It was a very important game, we needed to win and it gives us confidence to face the next matches in the best way. Scoring? I try to give my best for the team and for myself. I’m happy if I can be decisive in bringing results.”
