Ricardo Rodríguez has stated that he wants to play, but his agent claims there is no reason to panic at the moment.
Summer signing Theo Hernández was preferred over Ricardo Rodríguez in the left-back position in the last three rounds of Serie A. The Frenchman even scored in the win over Genoa last week, while the Swiss was looking from the bench.
Swiss daily Blick reported this week that Rodríguez could leave Milan and Atlético Madrid, Schalke, Borussia Dortmund, Everton and Roma have been mentioned as admirers.
“I didn’t play for three games, but it doesn’t mean anything. Everything can change,” Rodríguez told Luzerner Zeitung. “I don’t know what will happen in the future, I just know that I’m a player who always wants to play. I feel good, as I’ve always demonstrated. In Italy it’s very difficult, it’s tactical football, all the teams are organized, prepared and they defend themselves.”
The agent of the 27-year-old, Gianluca Di Domenico, also commented on the situation while speaking to Rete Uno: “It’s only a matter of media speculation. Ricardo grew up at Zurich, then he played five and a half years at Wolfsburg and for two and a half years he’s been at Milan, so it’s clear that he has never run away from difficulties. At this moment there is no reason to panic: it’s true that he has not played the last three games, but this is part of football, because in the big teams there must always be two strong left-backs.
“A new coach has just arrived at Milan, so there will be new possibilities, now he is focused on the national team.” Rodriguez and Switzerland play Denmark tomorrow at Telia Parken at 20:45 CEST.
