Theo Hernández has spoken to MilanTV as he’s getting ready for his first match of the season against Hellas Verona.
Theo has returned to training after recovering from his ankle injury and he is expected to be fully fit to play against Hellas after the international break.
The Frenchman arrived from Real Madrid in the summer for €20m and he will give Marco Giampaolo a different kind of option at left-back compared to what Ricardo Rodriguez is offering.
“My recovery? I feel good and at ease, my recover process is slow but it’s going well. I’m eager to return to the pitch,” Theo told MilanTV. “My first moments with Milan? Honestly, I’m happy to be at Milan. I feel comfortable with my new teammates, the staff and everyone here. I want to return to the pitch soon. I was unlucky with this injury but these things happen in football.
“Making new friends? I have bounded with everyone and although my Italian is not great, we understand each other. I feel good with the team, I have excellent teammates. The teammate who surprised me the most? We’re all quality players, and truly they are all great. Who is the funniest teammate? I have a lot of fun with Samu Castillejo.
“Objectives to reach? Our goal, first of all, is to qualify for the Champions League and from there aim even higher. We are a great team, a complete squad, with the support of our fans we can do it. What kind of coach is Giampaolo? I didn’t know Giampaolo, but he is a very good coach, his training sessions are very intense. We’ll achieve great things with him and with this squad.
“Why jersey number 19? I like it because it’s the same as my brother’s. I also wore it last season and I decided to take it since it was available. Living in Milano? My first two moths here have gone smoothly. I will soon move in to my new home after spending the first months in a hotel.
“Learning Italian? I haven’t learnt many words in Italian yet, the only thing I can say is ‘molto bella’ [laughs].”
