Ante Rebić is now officially a Milan player after completing the medical and signing the contract.
A transfer that was born yesterday and completed today, on the 2019 summer transfer market deadline day: Rebić arrives to Milan from Eintracht Frankfurt.
Ante is returning to Italy after his spell at Fiorentina and he will add more fire-power and options for Marco Giampaolo. The player arrived in Milano already last night and this morning he underwent the medical check-ups before signing the contract at the Rossoneri headquarters.
“Milan (the Club) announces the agreement with Eintracht Frankfurt for the acquisition of the footballer Ante Rebić on a two-year temporary basis,” a statement on the Diavolo website reads.
“Born in Split, in Croatia, on September 21, 1993, Rebić made his senior debut with RNK Split in 2011. In 2013 he signed for ACF Fiorentina. Then, after a spell with Verona and Leipzig, he joined Eintracht Frankfurt in 2016 where he recorded 100 appearances and 25 goals; two of them were scored in the 3-1 victory against Bayern Munich of the 2018 DFB-Pokal final.
“Ante Rebić made his senior international debut for Croatia in August 2013, against Liechtenstein. With one goal scored and six caps he has been one of the protagonists of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, where Croatia reached the final played in Moscow against France.”
Eintracht released a statement on their own confirming the transfer: “Rebić joins the Italian first division club Milan on loan for two years. The World Cup runner-up had initially transferred from Fiorentina to Frankfurt in 2016 on loan and was permanently signed in 2017. The 25-year-old, with the eagle on his chest, scored 25 goals in 100 competitive goals. The most important goals are the 1-0 and 2-1 leads in the DFB-Pokal final in 2018. In the first round of the DFB Cup in 2019, against Waldhof Mannheim 07, Rebić’s hat-trick paved the way for a 5-3 and progression.
“The past season was the most successful personally in over three years at Eintracht Frankfurt in terms of the numbers: 10 goals and 6 assists across the competition, in which the club has constantly improved in the standings and also made a name for itself internationally. Now Rebić has come to the attention of the fifth-placed side in last year’s Serie A season and they’ve secured the services of the international striker on loan for two years.
“‘Rebić has played a major part in the positive development of Eintracht over the past few years. He has great skills from which we’ve often benefited. Now he wishes for himself a new challenge and we wish all the best to him’, says Eintracht director of sport Fredi Bobic.”
The 25-year-old is capable of playing as a second striker, as a left winger and as a main striker. He’s coming in an exchange of loans with André Silva. Both have contracts with their clubs until 2022 and they have the same value of €25 million. It’s interesting to note however, that despite the reports over the past 24 hours, an option to buy is not mentioned in the clubs’ statements.
The Croatian, who will be on display with the national team in the upcoming international break and will therefore not train under Marco Giampaolo for a while, will wear the #18 shirt at Milan.
