Biglia could miss the Udinese game due to an adductor injury, Çalhanoğlu is expected to replace him as the regista

Lucas Biglia picked up an injury during training on Friday, and while it’s not very serious it’s possible that he will miss Matchday 1 of Serie A on Sunday.

Marco Giampaolo was planning on using his usual starting XI from the pre-season games against Udinese at Stadio Friuli, with a midfield of Fabio Borini, Lucas Biglia and Hakan Çalhanoğlu.

However, Biglia may be ruled out for the match. As reported by Sky Italia’s Peppe Di Stefano, the Argentine suffered a left adductor injury during today’s training session.

According to Sky.it, the injury of Biglia is nothing too serious but still possibly enough to make Biglia skip Matchday 1. Di Stefano claims that in that case, Milan’s #10, Çalhanoğlu, would take the role of the regista in the starting XI, directing the play with Borini and Lucas Paquetá on his sides.

Ismaël Bennacer is fit to play but Giampaolo seems to favor at this point the players would were with him during pre-season, over those who joined the squad late in the summer.

Probable XI (4-3-1-2) – Marco Giampaolo (Sky)
Gianluigi Donnarumma; Davide Calabria, Mateo Musacchio, Alessio Romagnoli, Ricardo Rodríguez; Fabio Borini, Hakan Çalhanoğlu, Lucas Paquetá; Suso; Krzysztof Piątek, Samu Castillejo.

so hopefully our 2019-20 season main 11 will be:
Piatek-Correra
Suso
Paqueta-Chalha-Kessie
RR-Romagnoli-Caldara-Calabria
Donnarumma

yes Borini aka new Lord Bonera, the guy is a good sub, max, but considering him as a starter is a sin. Also Kessie’s sale didn’t go through as 22M?! is ridiculous and Monaco is a joke.

Hernández will start ahead of Riccardo Rodriguez and Bennacer will start ahead of Calhanoglu and Biglia.

Calhanoglu and Ricardo Rodriguez will sit on the bench once Bernacer is in shape and the return of Theo Fernandez from his injury. I wouldn’t mind keeping Kessie and sell Calhanoglu as in some games we might need muscle even if he has to work in his ball control and shooting

Kessie is good in ball control. Shooting accuracy and decision are his weaknesses

Replace the turk and RR with Bennacer and Theo and we are set! Also I prefer Bonaventura over Susso as Bona is more decisive.

Blessing in disguise. Milan couldn’t afford to play like they did last time against Cesena without Paqueta and Kessie from the start. Last season Gattuso fielded those two for as long they were available which made us strong Milan almost qualified for. I hope Biglia recovers quickly but never return to the starting eleven with us. He is not adding anything special to our midfield. Suso, Borini, Castillejo, Musacchio, and Biglia are 5 problems. Milan should do better with 4. The biggest problem with Milan is the most obvious one that never get fixed. And they club keep wondering. “To… Read more »

Biglia was great in the other pre season matches you didn’t talk about. Was better than Calhanoglu overall so this can’t be good

He is a good player when fit, but that’s the problem. I can’t believe we signed him on big wages when everyone new he was injury prone! I’ve never known a team with such injury problems through the season, and then we sign injury prone players on top of that.

I agree except for including Suso as a problem. I think it’s a blessing in disguise that Biglia is injured. He’s a player I also think Milan should offload.

Suso stats are better than all of our midfielders last season. He will come good this season under a much better coach.

Nick let’s hope on Suso to br consistent for once for Milan’s sake.

I agree with everything you said. Best coaches always demand the players they need and won’t back down. Unfortunately Gattuso and all our previous coaches were not assertive enough to let go of mediocre players and now we are stuck with them 🙁 I hope Giampaolo will be different…

Leoroso I hope so too. Btw Gattuso was the most surprising coaches out of all our previous failed coaches. He quickly learned the importance of finding your most stable players to field consistently. He learned that in the first season and won’t bet on Borini. And he was the only who would bench Suso for entire games when ever he played bad. Gattuso was only a mediocre who was becoming a world class coach who restored our dignity in two years. We beat Napoli, Roma, Udinese, Fiorentina, Lazio, Atalanta, with narrow loses against Juve and inter and Napoli. I would… Read more »

Borini should stay as back up. He is a versatile player

Hakan in ragista we will lose 100%

Yes we could. If we do the positive shouybe Bennacer who hopefully will have shown the coach what he was missing. I hope Giampaolo is just trying to motivate our new signings by not playing them right away. Otherwise Milan might not even make it to EL with Serie A being harder than ever next season.

Apparently Atletico is replacing Correa with Everton. Fun news!

Pls someone to explain me why Borini is going be a starter instead of Kessie. Paqueta-Calha-Kessie seems way better

Kessie has not trained with the team long enough to understand Gaimpaolo’s tactics. He will replace Borini soon.

I am aware, but read about battle btwn Paque-Franck for the last spot and not Borini-Franck.

We only have 2 RB. What if on of Calabria/Conti gets injured?

I want to see Calhanoglu in front of the defense. The guy has talent but it’s getting to last chance saloon for a regular starting place. Added bonus means that Paqueta must start. The only way Borini should be near a Milan starting eleven on a consistent basis is if he’s bringing the oranges on at half time.
