Florian Neuhaus has emerged as the new target of Milan, but Paolo Maldini is thinking of getting him next summer.
The 2019 summer transfer window only ends on September 2nd and Milan are still working on at least one more signing.
However, it appears that Paolo Maldini, Zvonimir Boban, Frederic Massara and the others working in the sporting area of Milan, the Rossoneri are already thinking of reinforcements for next summer.
As reported by Sportface.it yesterday and reiterated by Gazzetta.it on Thursday, Milan have set their eyes on Florian Neuhaus of Borussia Mönchengladbach. The 22-year-old had an impressive season at the Bundesliga last season, making 10 assists and scoring 4 goals in 34 appearances. The midfielder’s contract expires in 2021.
Neuhaus, who was part of the U21 Germany team that reached the EURO’s final, is liked above all by Maldini, according to Gazzetta’s Marco Guidi. The agent of the player, Christian Nerlinger has already met with the leadership of Milan to talk about the possible transfer of the player – not now, however, but instead in 2020, as the player is seriously considering of not extending his contract.
Mönchengladbach will be trying to get Florian to sign a new deal but Milan – and Bayern Munich – would like to get him next year with one year left on his contract. Gazzetta.it reports there will be another meeting between Milan and Nerlinger in September, after the market ends.
Neuhaus has been called the German Kaká, even though he’s more of a mezz’ala than an attacking midfielder and has also been compared to Lothar Matthäus.
