Franco Baresi and Daniele Massaro have spoken ahead of tonight’s friendly against Feronikeli, discussing Kosovo, the team and the fans.
The Rossoneri play KF Feronikeli at Fadil Vokrri Stadium this evening (20:45 CEST kickoff – live stream on Milan’s Facebook).
Club ambassadors Franco Baresi and Daniele Massaro joined the team for the trip to Kosovo and they spoke to the press ahead of the game earlier today.
“We are happy to play this friendly match,” Baresi said, as reported by Milannews.it. “We will have the opportunity to face and see other teams. We have the chance to face Feronikeli and we hope that this event will open up other avenues. The trip to Kosovo? There was great curiosity on the part of all of us because it’s our first time here. There is curiosity to face ourselves with the local reality. I think the coach will play everyone in order to continue the rotation in view of the first Matchday.
“The defense of Milan? I think that there are different generations. Milan started a new project, with new ambitions, players and coach. It takes confidence that Milan will grow and I think it takes time for the team to be competitive in Italy and abroad. The season? I think the team can be competitive. We’ve had some important friendly matches and some good performances. We’re Milan, everyone knows their responsibilities. We’re confident.”
Massaro said: “We are happy to present this match. It’s an incredible thing to see the affection of our fans and see how they welcome us all over the world. We are working to return to bring the most successful teams in the world, like we were a few years ago.
“Being in Kosovo? I hope this is the beginning of a long collaboration with the organizers and the teams that will invite us. We will have little time to visit the city. When I go to countries I don’t know I document their history. We will return to Milano after the game but I think there are opportunities to establish a relationship that will last for a long time.
“Returning to the Champions League? It’s the minimum objective of the club, given how they talking at a managerial and technical level. Milan want to return to being the protagonists in Italy, in Europe and in the world. Because Milan must be in those positions.
“The mercato? I can only speak as a fan and I would like players to come and bring quality to Milan. Those who are doing the market have taken great players and, as always, Milan have accustomated us to the fact that there is a ‘cherry’ in the last few days. We hope to have it again this year.
“The new signings? I don’t that those who spend the most do not necessarily succeed in winning. Milan played against already-formed teams, performing well and doing better and better. I’m curious to see the team when all the players are available, hoping that Maldini and Boban can give us that little something to make a further leap in quality.”
