Paolo Maldini has reportedly chosen Frederic Massara to be Milan’s director of sport, after Igli Tare turned him down.
Maldini and CEO Ivan Gazidis are working on filling positions in the management, and the role of the director of sport is one of the more important ones to fill.
Lazio’s Igli Tare was Maldini’s number one choice for the role, but the Albanian decided to stay at Lazio and turn down the offer for the former defender.
And according to Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Italia, Paolo has turned his intentions to Frederic Massara. The 50-year-old has only worked for Roma since 2011, having two spells with the Giallorossi. In March he was entrusted with overseeing the club’s sporting operations, but he is now a free agent as five days ago Roma announced that they’re parting ways with the director.
Di Marzio claims that Maldini has identified Massara as the right man for the job at Milan and negotiations are now in place between the sides as Paolo is trying to convince Frederic to accept.
Maybe this says a lot more about my lack of knowledge of this guy but in my view it would make more sense to try and sign Atalanta’s Sartori who has also been mentioned as a candidate that is offcourse if we cant pursuade Braida to rejoin us. Atalanta has atleast done a great job at scouting a lot of young players while buying them at low fees and then increasing their value and selling them at great profit. Sartori is my first choice but Massara is a good option and like Asraf said he’s definitely better than Tare.
He signed Salah, Alisson, Perotti and Dzeko for under 40mil during his time at Roma.
You can’t beat that in today’s transfer market.
The 50-year-old worked as a right-hand man for both Walter Sabatini and Monchi while at Roma, but did spend one season as the sole sporting director.
During that, he signed Mo Salah, Alisson, Diego Perotti and Edin Dzeko for a combined fee of under £40m
Ok thanks guys that doesnt really sound so bad then when he brought in those players for such small an ammount. His work with Sabatini and Monchi will be a plus as well so guess it would be sort of a scoop if he lives up to his credentials as he would sign for free as well.
Massara will apparently now propose the idea of signing Kouame to incoming manager Marco Giampaolo as a secondary striker to possibly pair up with Krzysztof Piatek, as both already played together in Genoa

Milan is reportedly running at 413 million € loss that was made in the last 5 years. Reportedly it is the biggest loss a club runs with in the football world of today.
They are in deep red numbers and seeing this report I won’t be surprised neither dissapointed if Milan sells off most of their pride players – Donnarumma, Kessie, Suso.
This club is still on the verge of bankrupcy

I told agree with statement. I don’t know why everyone is in panic mode. Had the Elliot Fund not take over Milan the club would have been bankrupt and demoted to Serie C.
Elliot saved Milan and will make this club great again after Berlusconi and the Chinese owners put the club in financial ruins.

We’re not too bad considering Athletico Madrid, Barcelona and Real Madrid are operating at losses of approximately €740million, €500million and €373million respectively.
And their income? United are also operating deeply in red but their market value is one of the highest in not only football world but sport world. Juventus are also operating with a loss at around 200 millions but they generate high income due to own stadium, CL football and marketable players.

I read that article and I can tell you that Milan is not going sell off the team. Of course players like Donnarumma, Kessie and Suso might be sold to raise money for next season’s transfer budget but Milan already made it clear that Romagnoli and Piatek are untouchable as they intend to build a team around them.
